Baton Rouge Aces III: The return
Yes, this is my third dynasty with the Baton Rouge Aces. Both of my last two files have been lost by my computer so i'm starting again.
I'm going to start in 2009 as the Tampa Bay Rays and sim until 2010 and begin as the Baton Rouge Aces. I won't post anything on the 2009 season and will start fresh in 2010.
The Rosters will be posted shortly.
Re: Baton Rouge Aces III: The return
WAFB News Brodcast
The Tampa Bay Rays (which will move to Baton Rouge next season) has announced (thanks to a lot of investments) that a megastadium will be built by the levee of the Mississippi River. "There is plenty of undeveloped land over there by the river that is out of the flood zone. That can be used as a stadium. We bought most of it. Even though it is by the river we can assure a safe stadium in Baton Rouge." said Darrell Batiste, Jr (one of the investors)
The new stadium (which will be called Aces Stadium unless naming rights come along) will rival the new Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas as it will seat 100,000 people. It will be the most luxurious stadium in the country. "It is an open stadium so we won't have any crazy LCD tv's on the roof" (an obvious reference to Jerry Jones) said Anthony Broadway, another big money investor.
Reid Brignac, infielder for their minor league associate Vero Beach Rays, commented on it. "I was born in St. Amant, Louisiana (about 25 miles from Baton Rouge) and this is great news to me. I still have family there and they can see me play at the new stadium. I will try extra hard to make it to "the show" so I can make my family proud."
One way for sure this new stadium will bring tons of money to the Baton Rouge area.

Aces trade away Pena
The Baton Rouge Aces and St. Louis Cardinals agreed to a trade that would send 1B Carlos Pena (83) to the Cardinals for C Bryan Anderson (85/92), RP Anthony Herrera (69/82), and SP Clayton Mortenson (76/81). Also going to the Cardinals is SP Matt Garza (76), RP Dan Wheeler (69), SP Jacob McGee (88/92), RP Calvin Medlock (63/66), RP Wade Townsend (62/67), and 500K cash.
Anderson is the Catcher that the Aces have been looking for and Shawn Riggins or John Jaso will be called down or released. Grant Balfour will be brought into the rotation to replace Garza. Balfour's power rating is 97 so we hope that will add to his success as a starting pitcher.

Amatuer Draft Review
1st round - SP Carleton Mincilli (50/94) Has the potential to be our future ace or a great starter.
2nd Round - 1B John Wible (61/79) Has above average power (70) and has the potential to get better.
3rd Round - RF Tony Uminsky (63/73) Is a great defender. Can be a great defensive replacement one day.
4th Round - C Brian Song (61/70) Won't be more than a backup C in baton Rouge.
5th Round - CF Omar Pena (55/68) Looks like a career minor leaguer.
6th Round - RP Shayne Norris (46/74) Could be groomed to be a closer in the future.
The 1st overall pick was RP Jeff Raymond (71/93) to the Chicago White Sox
The last overall pick was C Cameron Cupp (55/65) to the Boston Red Sox
