Next BIG thing????

I hadn't heard of this guy until last week to be honest. Weighing in at over 270, is he the "next big thing" or an overweight overrated talent?

Heading into last season, BA ranked him as the 50th best prospect.

He's got a potent bat. He's not more than a below average defender in left field, and might wind up being terrible there. First base is his best position, where he's around average, but Adrian Gonzalez is blocking him.

Pads should just move A-Gonz, I think.

Speaking from a fantasy owner so he can move out of that pitchers park...

Blanks is pretty good, but he's more of an Adam Dunn type player than a 'next big thing'. Jeff Decker will probably end up being a better player & hitter than Blanks, to be honest.

I'm also surprised that this wasn't some 3 year old thread that got bumped. Kyle Blanks is kind of old news.

I loved Blanks running on his inside the parker last year against Chicago...big man running

I think if Blanks can learn how to draw walks, he could be an effective first basemen or left fielder.

But I don't see him amounting to too much long term other than maybe an everyday average power bat.
