Will Renteria reach 3000 hits?

through 32 years of age, he has almost 2200.

If he does, is he invited into the hall of fame?

Doesn't seem fair if he would be, a guy with a career 31 WAR at this point shouldn't be in my opinion....even though there are guys with that low that have been voted in.

Renteria is 34, with 2,185 hits currently.

I'm going with no - his range has declined, and I don't see him playing full-time from age 36 on

No way in hell.

He won't. If he somehow does, I think he will make the Hall of Fame, but would, of course, not be deserving.

I just noticed that he was born in 76....I was looking at his BR page where it said his age last year of 32....which is of course his opening day age.

That sort of changes things a bit.

He's not 34 YET. He will be in August.

he will probably get himself up to 2300 this year....and maybe 2-3 more years of around 130 hits a year....and then that might be it.

I don't think he will, but he could somehow reach it.

Last year at this time he was 32. Now he's 33.

I assume BR always posts a players opening day age, correct? so if the players bday is at the end of April, it would show them at a year younger?

They show their "seasonal age." Hover over the "Age" column label on the page, and a pop up will show saying "Player's age at midnight of June 30th that year."

Favorite toy says he has about a 17% chance at getting to 3000 hits. I think that in his case, that's wildly optimistic. I don't think he can last more than another 3 years as a regular, and that won't put him to even 2600, probably.

And without getting to 3000 hits, he's not within a mile of the Hall.
