I'd bet money on it.

I don't know why this is that big of a debate it's all speculation. For all we know, all of these guys could tear their elbows out tomorrow.
Re: Players of the next decade 2010-2019
They must think the Prince is going to hit alot of solo shots.....

HR/FB leaders from fangraphs. Mauer was 11th between Pujols and Dunn.
He also sticks out like a sore thumb in terms of FB%

What do you mean ? His FB% was perfectly in line with his career trend (increased every year since 2005 by about 1% per year).

His HR/FB was double what it has ever been and his FB% was exactly where it always has been when he's been a 10 homer guy
Compared to the other guys on the fangraphs leader board that I posted.
Most guys who hit the ball really hard (hence they have high HR/FB rates) try and hit a lot of fly balls. Mauer hits a lot of groundballs. Hence the high BA and low HR #'s

Re: Players of the next decade 2010-2019
The only numbers I really disagree with are Uptons HR's and Brauns Avg. I agree that Upton will be a lot closer to 250, maybe even 300. I also think that Braun can sustain a .310-.320 batting average.

What is it about Lester's 3.64 and 3.15 FIP's the last two years, increase from 6.5 to 10 K's per 9, sub 3 BB per 9, 47% GB numbers that you don't like?
Nothing here portends anything to me besides ace in the making
Re: Players of the next decade 2010-2019
Agreed. Lester IS the best pitcher on the Boston staff right now, and all his numbers have been trending positively.
Re: Players of the next decade 2010-2019
just wait until Boof Bonser makes a start!
you think Lester is impressive, your mind is about to go BOOF

I guess I deserve the back splash. Something doesn't scream, greatest lefty over the next decade to me about Lester.
Either way, it's all speculation. I just don't see him being the greatest pitcher of all south paws over the next decade.

Who else is there?
Chances are, he won't be, but given what we know right now, I can't think of a better speculative pick.

Kershaw comes to mind

It could be Kershaw very easily, but Lester's the safer pick as of today because he's proven better endurance and control.
