Please tell me the "better first baseman" that they could have signed.

And wait... they're only paying GMJ 1.5 million per year. For a big market team, that's not exactly "wasting resources".

Minaya is a so-so GM but the injuries this year highlighted the extreme lack of depth that is partially his fault.

You said the Garko trade was terrible, and that Omar Minaya was an okay GM, but that he needed to work on adding more depth.

I said he was a so-so GM. My opinion of him has soured since I wrote that (and remember, it wasn't a high opinion then).

I think his offseason has been pretty okay. He filled a hole in left field (Bay), he made a couple of bad pickups (GMJ, Cora) for pretty low prices, he made a bunch of solid signings for the major league club (Blanco, Igarashi, Escobar, Tatis), and signed some minor league depth (Fogg, Catalanotto, Hessman, Everts, etc).

Also, how the hell is what Tony Bernazard did his fault?

You guys might not have needed to sign all that shitty depth if you guys hadn't traded it all to the Mariners. WOOT!

You guys didn't get anything too great from us in that trade.

A backup OF (who is a FA now anyway), a meh 1B prospect who was trapped behind Ike Davis in NY, a good OF prospect, a solid pitching prospect, and Jason Vargas.
