Required reading (Re: The Contest)
Re: Required reading (Re: The Contest)
The criticism wasn't specifically regarding signing Tatis. Rather, it was a criticism of the entire process that included a plan to enter the season with a Murphy/Tatis platoon while wasting resources on Gary Matthews Jr. that could've been spent on a better first basemen.
Re: Required reading (Re: The Contest)
It's funny because even the comments are telling him he's wrong. Not even any love on your own site. At least he has MG, though.
Re: Required reading (Re: The Contest)
And no, unlike what the original article stated, Ryan Garko is absolutely not the solution at first base.
FYI also, it's going to be mostly Murphy at first base if I understand correctly. Tatis was signed because he can play 6 positions decently and can hit respectably.

He's better than Murphy, or a Murphy/Tatis platoon.

Having played 6 positions in the past does not mean he can play 6 positions decently.

He plays a good enough 1B, 3B, LF, RF, I guess 2B and SS are debatable.

He's played like 5 games each at 2B and SS, and is an average at best corner man and is 35 years old. He can't play 2B and SS decently unless decently means "can stand in the field at that position for a couple of innings if absolutely needed" in which case Adam Dunn is a decent fielder.

I couldn't care less what he hits. We have plenty of big boppers in our lineup. I know however that he at least last year played a very strong defensive first base.

Good for him. He's still not good.

Yep I'm sorry. Fernando Tatis is awful. Ryan Garko is amazing. The Mets stand no chance in 2010 and will lose 100 games at least. I apologize for going against all of your infallible opinions.

Brush up on your reading comprehension and stop reading what you want to read and read what is actually written.

Metsguy234 (11:07:18 AM): if I told you "Why the **** did the Mets sign Fernando Tatis, he sucks" you'd be defending him
straightoutofhxc (11:07:26 AM): because that would be retarded too.
If this **** continues, I'm leaving. I can say "the sky is blue" and you'll find a reason to contradict me.

I'm not. I don't stress defense over hitting or hitting over defense. I stress overall value.

Because Fernando Tatis doesn't suck and signing him wasn't stupid in and of itself.

So... you're attacking him... but he doesn't suck... but he's not good... but you're defending him
You're contradicting yourself multiple times in the SAME THREAD

No, I'm not. Like I said, you are unable to comprehend, apparently.
