It's a minority though. And the way people get so pissed, they act like it's 9 out of 10.
I don't have a major problem with the NFL's overtime system. I have a bit of a quarrel with the kickers thing because it's just seeing which team makes it to the 30 yard line first.
I'm not a major fan of the college system being transplanted into the NFL though. I think if the NFL were to change, they shouldn't copy the college system.
Maybe, play one quarter and see who has the most points at the end. Like soccer's ET before penalty kicks.
Yeah, that.
I've also heard it suggested (and I'm not really endorsing any particular one) that you eliminate the coin-toss and just let whoever has possession keep possession (like the first-to-second and third-to-fourth quarter breaks), and just proceed from there as usual until someone scores. But that means keeping sudden-death overtime, and I'm just not a big fan of sudden-death in pro football.
And I've also heard it suggested (with due respect to Adam Vinatieri and others) that you just eliminate field goals as a scoring option altogether, when in overtime. The greater difficulty required to score may make a sudden-death conclusion at least a little more palatable.
I say get rid of sudden death overtime, but if they really want to keep it they should get rid of FGs. It's like shortening the field from your 20 yard line to their 30.
Could you imagine if they did this to baseball? First team to score wins *troll face*
Well baseball is obviously entirely different as it's a different way of scoring.
The closest thing would be if they did basketball like that. Which would just be dumb as hell.
(I smell a poll.) ;):D
I wanted brett farve to beat the saints and then win it in the super bowl and then retire a happy man.
I guarantee you he'll retire happy regardless if he wins the superbowl in his last game or if he puts up a negative QB rating. He got paid millions to play the sport he loves for a large chunk of his life and will retire as one of the best QBs to ever play the game.
well there are really on three options for the overtime issue.
1) Keep it as is.
2) Play overtime quarters, 10min or 15 min, a just play forever is need to be, I don't think that realistic though, football is too brutal a game for that to happen, its not like baseball or Basketball or even Hockey.
3) Play 1 quarter, then SD overtime, this system make the only real sense, even of that extra quater were shortened to 10 mins, of course the first team to manage a 10 minute drive that ends in a 25 yard field goal will have every one complaining.
-- The College system is absolute trash and maybe the worst idea ever.
-- removing FGs or kickers is also silly, why not just make the OT 7 on 7 drills,
-- the, if-then, concept of giveing both teams a possestion if one team scores on the first drive is also silly, for every obvious reason.
