Wow! Wholesale changes coming soon.
Step one for that organization...start over. Spending all your money on linebackers and wide receivers doesn't work. You need linemen, you need a running back worth a damn, and you need a quarterback of the future. Now.
Pete Carroll apparently his replacement. Let's see what Pete's got in try #2 of the NFL.
Looking for: Offensive Line
Please contact the Seattle Seahawks for further information.
I love that Holmgren appointed Mora has his successor and that lasted all of one season.
I've never thought Mora as a good coach. He's like the guy that follows up on what the carpenter did.
Carpenter comes in, redoes your kitchen cabinets makes them look really nice. Says "I'll have a guy come back in about a week to check up on them". You really like your cabinets. In comes Jim Mora with his hammer and his nails and his lack of coaching ability and he says "It looks like this one is a bit off, let me fix it."
So you leave, you got a quick errand to run. 30 minutes later you come back. And your cabinets are on the ground. And Jim is standing there with his hammer hoping you don't come back before he puts the cabinets back up. Too late.
I don't believe at all the Carroll is going to Seattle.
But maybe?
Yeah, I was just reading
and the source wasn't Jon Heyman, there might be credibility!
Step 1 should have been to change those god awful uniforms. Then work on replacing the coach.
Seriously though, Pete is tough to gauge how well he would do in Seattle. As a New England fan, he did ok there. He was a players coach which I like, and he didnt do that badly with the defense.
For some reason Drew Bledsoe didnt perform so well, which hurt us, and I think losing Curtis Martin also was a major blow to how well he did.
Also it was 10 years ago since he last coached in the NFL, there could be a chance players could respond better to his coaching style nowadays, like a Wade Phillips. He is an upgrade over Mora for sure though, I think that is one certainty.
I think this was a bad move. Why get rid of him after one year? What was the record the year before he got there?? Exactly my point. Why hire someone if your only going to give him 1 year. It wasn't like a Ray Rhodes situation where he took a playoff team and drove them to the ground. The team sucked the year before with a HOF coach. They were slightly better this year and they had alot of injuries. Makes no sense. On a side note Carrol will never succeed in the NFL.
Seattle got wooped on by Tampa Bay. Boise would have played Tampa better then the Seahawks did.
which is always such silly thing ... even the worst pro team would beat the best college team by two TDs.
The top College teams have two or three guys that will be NFL starters, and maybe 7-8 guys that will play there... NFL teams a literally filled will NFL players ....
Woo hoo! Pete Carroll is back in the NFL. I love it!
The best college football team would get beat by the very worst pro team by 4 TDs easy. It wouldnt' be competitive. Even the best college team has people that will be working at car washes making up a significant part of their starting lineup.
It wouldn't be close.
I think the top SEC teams would fair the greatest chance to beat an NFL team with their athletic defenses. The chance though is still about Nil.
Apparently Carrol is going to Sea. I wonder how much power he will have? I find it odd that they would hire a coach before a GM.
I actually broke it down once while watching the 08 Lions and honestly, I think that year's Florida team could've beat them in one game. I mean, everyone says that a college team can't beat an NFL team, but the 08 Lions couldn't beat an NFL team either.
If you looked at the Lions starting roster that year, just about everyone was a guy who couldn't play for any other NFL team. Yeah, there are players in the 08 UF starting lineup that wouldn't play in the NFL, but there were even more players on the 08 Lions who SHOULDNT start in the NFL.
And finally, the coaching advantage would be enormous. I don't know if you guys really appreciate how pathetic the 08 Lions were in every aspect of football.
It would definitely depend on how the game was played...is it some exhibition game? is there money involved?
Because even the pathetic Lions of 08, would hopefully play with some pride (also guys Calvin Johnson could play on other teams)
Ken Norton Jr. + Aaron Curry. Thanks.
Another cool coaching addition..apparently.

Today we learn that Alex Gibbs will likely join the staff as Seahawks offensive line coach, replacing Mike Solari.
Gibbs is considered the preeminent offensive line coach in football. He spent last season with the Houston Texans, who ranked first...number 1 in the NFL in passing yards per game averaging over 290 yards a contest.
Zach Nally of Bleacherreport.com calls is Carroll's best hire yet.
"His longest stint was an offensive coaching gig in Denver under former head coach Mike Shanahan and Jeremy Bates, the new offensive coordinator in Seattle. He spent three marginally successful years there (1984-1987) before returning to establish one of the league's most dominant running games (1995-2003).
At Denver, the offensive line set numerous franchise records including most total yards (6,554 in 2000), most first downs (383 in 2000), most rushing yards (2,468 in 1998), and most rushing touchdowns (32 in 1998).
His offensive line also knew how to pass protect. From 1995-2000, Gibbs' line did not allow more than 35 sacks per season."
Gibbs is a baller.
If he does come aboard, Gibbs is a great hire for the Seahawks. Nice move.
