Defense. A defensive/pitching run is more important than an offensive run. I.e. a team that scores 710 runs and allows 700 runs should have a winning% of .506 while a team that scores 700 runs and allows 690 runs should have a winning% of .507. And a team that scores 720 runs and allows 700 runs should have a winning% of .514 while a team that scores 700 runs and allows 680 runs should have a winning% of .515.
