Rate your fav NFL team's 2009 draft

now that the regular season is nearly over. Every April everyone gets all excited about who their team may draft, and after the draft everyone tries to grade how they think their team did in the draft. Well now after a season of work, how do you think you're team did? Now that you have a much better idea of how your 2009 rookies will perform against pro level talent how do you think your team did overall, and going forward what are the needs your team will need to fill in the 2010 draft?

Steelers: B

Ziggy Hood would be a servicible starter soon, and we stole Wallace in the third. We got two future corners in Lewis and Burnett too.

after this year, what are some areas you would like to see the team address via the 2010 draft? what areas via free agency?

Pittsburgh doesn't really address their problems through free agency, though I'll like to see them resign Holmes, Clark, Hampton, and Woodley.

Pittsburgh needs to draft a safety if we don't resign Clark, and Taylor Mays seems to be a best choice that we can probably get. We also need to draft a DT/DE to replace an aging D line, especially a DT to replace Hampton since Hood will replace Smith. We also need to draft some people for the OL since they suck. We should draft a inner linebacker in the later rounds to replace Farrior.

In order of importance:
1) Safety
2) Defensive Line
3) Offensive Line
4) Linebacker

I think its too soon to tell, as most rookies outside of RB dont realize their full potential until a few seasons later.

Offensively, the real winners as far as 1st rounders are Denver and Minnesota.

Defensively the Texans seem to have the best defensive 1st rounder in Brian Cushings. Though the most productive Defensive rookie far and away is 2nd round Bills Safety Jairus Byrd. OD should know this fella. ;)

Round 1- 19th overall : WR Jeremy Maclin, Missouri (52 REC, 715 Yds, 4 TD)
- This pick has been great and we were lucky he fell to us (lol Raiders). Over 50 receptions in his rookie season (which doesn't happen too often with rookie's on this team) and had a huge catch in the Week 16 win over Denver. Only thing from keeping this from an A was his plantar fasciatis (sp?) that caused him to miss a couple games.
Grade: A-

Round 2- 53rd overall: RB LeSean McCoy, Pittsburgh (154 Att, 633 Yds, 4 TD, 38 Rec, 303 Yds)
- I'd rank this pick ahead of Maclin because McCoy has had to step in as the starter for most of the season with Westbrook out and the offense hasn't missed a beat. His shifty running style is electric and he has vastly outperformed his expectations.
Grade: A

Round 5- 152nd overall: TE Cornelius Ingram, Florida (Injured Reserve)
- Looked good at the time of the pick. A great playmaker who had injury problems that caused him to drop in the draft. However, those injury problems translated into the NFL, as he tore up his knee in training camp and missed all of 2009.
Grade: N/A

Round 5- 157th overall: CB Victor "Macho" Harris, Virginia Tech (35 Tkls, 19 KR, 394 Yds, 2 FMB)
- Was named the starter at FS coming out of the preseason but struggled and was replaced by Sean Jones. For a 5th round pick, he's still seen a lot of action in Dime formations. While often gaining good yardage on kickoffs, his two fumbles against Denver in Week 16 almost cost Philly the game.
Grade: C

Round 5- 159th overall: OT Fenuki Tupou, Oregon
- Has not been on the active roster all season.
Grade: D-

Round 6- 194th overall: WR Brandon Gibson, Washington State
- Didn't have a catch with the Eagles, but was included along with a 5th round draft choice at the trade deadline for LB Will Witherspoon. The fact that they got a playmaking and versatile LB for a player who was buried on the depth chart gives Gibson value. His 31 receptions for 330 yards and a TD in only 3 starts (8 games) for St. Louis shows he has some promise.
Grade: C+

Round 7- 213th overall: G Paul Fanaika, Arizona State
- Fanaika didn't make it out of traning camp.
Grade: F

Round 7- 230th overall: OLB Moise Fokou, Maryland
- You don't expect much from the 230th player selected, but Fokou has been a standout on Special Teams all season for the Eagles. Injuries forced him to start 3 games as well and his 34 tackles are strong for a guy who wasn't thought to be a big factor.
Grade: B

The last two drafts for Philly have been outstanding. After year after year of drafting linemen with the early picks Philly has got 3 outstanding playmakers in the last two drafts.

Eagles got a couple steals in the first two rounds I think. Good draft for them. Andy Reid is a great draft coach.

And a great football coach.

The closest thing I have to a favorite team is Jacksonville (I know...weird), so I guess I'll look at their draft.

Actually, pretty good. Monroe and Britton were inconsistent, but showed a lot of promise (though I still see Eben Britton as a guard in the end). Derek Cox kept shooting up the depth chart in the preseason, and he more than held his own as a starting corner. Terrance Knighton impressed me with his play at defensive tackle. Most rookie interior linemen struggle mightily, but he looked pretty solid in the rotation. Nobody else played all that much, though Rashad Jennings (7th round running back) looks like he could be a darkhorse.

Overall, a solid B. May go higher if the mid-round receivers pan out as slot depth.

Drafting the lineman was good for them as well. Many of them, on both sides of the ball, have assisted significantly in the Eagles success over the past few years. Its that success that allowed them to be able to focus on skill position players.

For the first time in years the Eagles focused the past two drafts on skill position impact players in the first round of the draft. They've hit homeruns.

I agree with you on the grading posted by skud although I give the Eagles an A for the draft. I think he is too critical with the late rd picks. Macho Harris, despite some bad play...did make an impact on this team in his first year. In the fifth rd i think its gotta be at least a B rating. I can't give them an F on a 7th rd pick that didn't make the roster lol. And I give Maclin an A, because despite missing a couple games he's been outstanding for a rookie WR and IMO was the best player available at the time of the pick. While I love Clay Matthews, Oher, and Harvin....the Eagles needed a WR and Maclin is better than Harvin. I think Matthews was the best of the four...but Maclin was a better pick for the Eagles. Oher is a beast, but the Eagles made some nice moves this offseason and thought they had the OT positions filled.

Whats interesting to me is the analysts were 100% correct about this draft. There wasn't a clear cut #1....but there was tons of very talented depth.

Tampa Bay:

Rnd 1: Josh Freeman, QB: B+, above average already starting and showing flashes of a future

Rnd 3: Roy Miller, DT: B, solidly in the DT rotation, tallied 28 tackeld and 2 sacks

Rnd 4: Kyle Moore; DE B-, seen limited playing time, but has show that he can play at this level

Rnd 5: Xavier Fulton, OT inc, Spent the year on IR

Rnd 6: EJ Biggers, CB; C was a long shot to make the roster, but has spent most of the season on IR

Rnd 7: Sammie Stroughter A- landed on IR late in the season, but is 3nd on the team in receptions with 31 and also has been a good return man. all what you want from a 7th rnd Choice and more.

Overall B-, Netted them a starting QB, two solid rotation guys, and some defesive depth, they did good with the picks given.

Kansas City:

Tyson Jackson, DE: B+, has 35 tackles and has been pretty well.
Alex Magee, DT: C, hasn't gotten a lot of playing time but has 2 sacks.
Donald Washington, CB: C, he's only played in 7 games and has 3 tackles; don't know his name so he couldn't've screwed up that badly.
Colin Brown, OT: N/A, he's been on the IR
Quinten Lawrence, WR: C-, only has 1 catch this year and it averaging 19 yards a return for kickoffs; he was eventually replaced.
Javarris Williams, RB: C-, hasn't played much but has -4 yards on the season.
Jake O'Connell, TE: C, can't really grade since he only has 1 catch in 3 games played.
Ryan Succop, K: A++++++++, solidifed our K position.

Overall: B-.

I really haven't been impressed with Tyson Jackson to be honest. I do think Ryan Succop can become a good Kicker. (You should know that name Prez) :D

if i had to pick one, i'm going with Crabtree. Biggest bust...Stafford or Heyward-Bey.

Yeah, Bey is a massive bust...but then every Raiders pick is a massive bust.

I don't think Stafford is a bust yet. Really liked him in that game against the Browns.

I really like Harvin and Oher, along with Crabtree and Cushing and Orakpo.

from what Ive read. sanchez is the more likely bust over stafford ..

While thier overall stats are similar, Stafford has done in on a vastly inferior team, reports also say that Sanchez struggles in less-than-optimal conditions and has afwul pocket presence.

My49ers took Michael Crabtree a WR in the first round. Crabtree ended the season with 41 rec, 499 yards and 2 TDs. Not bad numbers for a rookie considering he held out until On October 7, 2009 and didn't get to play until October 25. We had no 2nd round picks, picked up
Glen Coffee a RB in the 3rd round. Coffee rushed for 214 yards, 1 TD and a 2.6 ypc. Coffee should develope into a reliable back up to Gore. We had no 4th round picks, drafted Scott McKillop an ILB and Nate Davis a QB in the 5th round. In the 6th round we took Bear Pascoe a TE, 7th round we took Curtis Taylor a FS and Ricky Jean-Francois a DT.
