Who actually goes to games?
Its getting tough as a Yankee fan. I used to go to 20-30 games in the 90s. In the early 0s, it went down to 10 or so games a year. Now, if I take my kids to 10 Yankee games, it is actually the same price for airfare and 2 days at DisneyWorld. Guess what the kids choose?
I cant move. I cant become a Mets fan. Oh well.
Re: Who actually goes to games?
$5 Nats tickets were great. I tried to go to one game a series.
I'm moving to NY this winter (maybe spring depending on if Columbia's visa specialist ever gets off his ass) and I'll have to take in at least one game at the House that NYC Taxpayers Built.
More excited about going to the Coney Island minor league games
If the GF had accepted the position at UCLA-then I'd been looking forward to as close to 81+ games a year as possible
Re: Who actually goes to games?
1 Football and 2 Baseball games a year. Usually the Niners and the A's, though I have more fun at baseball games because I am not a Niners fan.
Re: Who actually goes to games?
Welcome to NY. The problem is that everything becomes an expense. Coney Island is sitll a nice out though. My friends and I went up full family and spent $50 each. Full BBQ, kid games, and the whole thing.
I Just miss living in Norfolk AAA. Free entry, if you cut thru the kitchen, and no more than $10 on beer.
As for DC, take advantage of it. It is gonna catch on.

this is one of the few negatives of being a Sawx / Yankee fan. I stopped trying to get Sox tickets 3 years ago...after two straight seasons of sitting all day by the CPU only to fail to get them. Even if you do get them they're very expensive, but I won't pay the egregious costs to scalp them either.
I usually get to a game or two a year the past few seasons...someone gets a ticket through work or a friend. But I no longer pay for them.
Re: Who actually goes to games?
I travel to a few series a year, 3-9 games. It used to be all Sox games (usually in Tampa), but I recently branched out to see phillies and some others.
This year we're doing a road trip, maybe to Atlanta, or pittsburgh, or somewhere. I get my games in, but it;s cheaper to fly and stay in another city and do the tourist thing that do fenway.
Yankee stadium i wouldn't support. :)
I do go to 6 or 7 minor league games tho. $10 tix and a fun easygoing time, get to see my PawSox..good stuff.
Re: Who actually goes to games?
My wife and I try to go see one Jays game a year.. For some reason, the games we end up seeing are always against Boston.. When I was younger and lived where I did, we went to the odd Thunder Bay Whiskey Jacks game..
Re: Who actually goes to games?
Usualy 2-3 games a year at Shea.
Never got to go this yer... just always had something to do when the Braves were in town. 1st year in at least 10 yeras I didnt go to 1 game. I go to yankee stadium 1 time a year if i can when the braves play
Re: Who actually goes to games?
I go about once a month with my son, and maybe my daughter this year as well. Cheapseats at the Jays games are $9 which isn't too bad.
Re: Who actually goes to games?
Where I live, there isn't much in the way of MLB games I can get to, however I do try to go see the Hickory Crawdads and the Winston-Salem Dash a time or 2 each year. I hope this year to get to a Charlotte Knights game. When the family "drags" me to Myrtle Beach on vacation I like to see the Pelicans play, but that only happens once every few years.
Re: Who actually goes to games?
Haven't been back since they stopped us from seeing batting practice.

Shocking but sadly true. I agree with you on the minor leagues...i go to a handful of them per year. New Britain Rock Cats (AA Twins) always have good young talent, fireworks monthly and cheap. Minor League ball ROCKS.

I was going to go there last year (to the Rock Cats). I am going to try and go to opening day next year. lol It is REALLY close to my g/f's house... its just that I have to go on a day off :( to far from my job to make it on time...
maybe next year I will take 1/2 a personal day... hmmm interesting idea

its a minor league game...getting there a little late isn't against mancode :)
its hit or miss opening day...IMHO you can't go to a minor league ball game in very cold weather lol. I see people every year in winter gear going to opening day. I recommend the first Friday game...as thats when they will have their firework show. It may still be a bit cold, but minor league game + fireworks is acceptable to go to in cold weather lol.
Its one of the better minor league parks i've been to. They do alot for the fans, they have a childrens play area (although that may not be up your alley lol), a roof top BBQ, seats are all great/close/ and pretty comfortable.
If you go to the firework show...lemme know. i'll buy you a beer.
Re: Who actually goes to games?
I go to games all the time. I went to 31 (counting Game 3 of the NLDS) in 2009 (mostly because I lived in Denver at the time).
