Best pitcher to go and come back?
The Vazquez trade got me thinking. Who is the best pitcher to leave a team and then come back to the same team after playing for another team? I mean come back and still be successful. Not David Cone in 03. NY has 1 of them in Pettitte and the Cubs with Maddux. Im just thinking modern era.

Bert Blyleven comes to mind
Re: Best pitcher to go and come back?
I totally forgot about Blyleven. Good call. He is what made Minnesota great, twice. Randy Johnson also is an I forgot since he went back to Arizona after the Yankees. I wouldn't think about him but he did have that good year in 2008.
Who knows, he could go back to Seattle and pitch till he is 50. Tongue in cheek, could you imagine that staff? King Felix 1, Cliff Lee 2, Ian Snell 3, and Randy 4th? That would be fun. Now if they could just get Edgar to come out of retirement and make Griffey 20 years younger.
Re: Best pitcher to go and come back?
Seaver came back to the Mets for a couple of years in the early 80s.
Re: Best pitcher to go and come back?
Nothing huge happened, but Eckersley came back to the Sox in 1998 as a reliever after playing with them in the late 70's as a starting pitcher.

Here is a good one. Tom Glavine, but never played with the Braves in his come back to the team. That whole thing was wack

the 2nd time around yes... but he never should have been signed in teh 1st place. If the braves had spent 1 more million they would have had Abreu instead of Glavine who never threw 1 pitch, and Garret Anderson.
We cut him because he was not going to be ready to pitch and Hanson was ready
