Well, how many other TV guys does ESPN have that know anything at all about baseball? Like one? If that? They better move Klaw and Neyer to TV pretty soon!

Really? your not psyched for listening to a full hour of Kruk and Eric Young?
With a little less intelligible baseball talk to keep him sane we're getting closer to a full melt down by Karl Ravech where he just starts slamming his head into the desk or goes ahead and slugs Kruk.
With some of the people leaving ESPN, it makes me wonder if its such a good gig to work there.
Sweet. This gives me another reason to watch MLB Network!
Next week we will discover that Peter, Steve Phillips, Mr. Met and Steve Phillips' fugly woman were totally involved in foursome after foursome.
Gammons is also going to work for NESN and NESN.com now.
Law, fine.
Neyer's a *****. See this article: http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/po...-little-sadder
Apparently because Barry Bonds' son assaulted his mother, Barry is totally to blame
nice! I'm happy for mlb network. I actually like Steve Phillips... You gotta remember though, this effects shows like: Mike and Mike (they have him on weekly) as well as baseball tonight. Who will do the report when we find out about more steroids in baseball now? :(
I am happy about this. I got tired of watching baseball tonight like I had with Sportscenter. They just continue to have crappy and crappy people doing their programs and ultimately becoming very boring and each episode almost seems the same, with guys and their same catch phrases. I got so tired of hearing souvenir city and crap like that. The only reason I was even watching Baseball Tonight anymore was because of gammons and now that he will be with MLBN, I will have baseball programming to look forward to again. Gammons and Reynolds reunited again! I am loving it. I'd like to see Steve Phillips go to MLBN as well hahaha.
Then I guess Deadspin lied to me

Why don't you read what Neyer said? He never said that this incident was "Barry Bonds' fault."
Here is the Neyer article:
No where does he say, "Barry Bonds was at fault".Quote:
It shouldn't have been hard to see this coming:
The 19-year-old son of home run king Barry Bonds was arrested Saturday in Menlo Park for allegedly spitting in his mother's face and throwing a metal doorknob at her during an argument, police said.
Nikolai Bonds was booked into San Mateo County jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and other crimes after he was arrested at his mother's home in the 1000 block of Valparaiso Avenue, Menlo Park police spokeswoman Nicole Acker said.
--snip--
In addition to allegedly assaulting his mother during the argument, Bonds smashed picture frames and vases, destroying $400 worth of property, Acker said. He also blocked the door so his mother couldn't leave, she added.
At one point, he threw a metal doorknob at her "so hard that it embedded itself into the wall, but it missed her," Acker said. Sun Bonds was uninjured.
Acker said police are still investigating what the argument was about.
Police arrested Bonds on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, assault and battery, vandalism, false imprisonment and obstructing and resisting an officer, Acker said.
I don't bring this up to amuse or titillate. This is just a sad story that's not likely to have a happy ending. But I couldn't help being reminded of the day I turned against Barry Bonds.
It was almost five years ago, during spring training. Bonds was on crutches -- he would wind up playing only 14 games that season -- and for any number of reasons was not real happy with the world. And in particular, he wasn't real happy with the media. Bonds could have taken the high road, but that's not really his way. He could have taken the middle road. Instead, he took the lowest of low roads: he used his teenaged son -- who looked like he'd rather be anywhere else in the world -- as an excuse to complain about the writers (here's a photo from that day).
I know that a lot of baseball players aren't exactly devoted husbands and fathers. By most accounts, Barry Bonds' dad was far from a model parent. But this was beyond the pale. Bonds did something a parent should never, ever do: he used his child as a weapon.
That's the day that he lost me. I don't suppose it's fair, but I've never felt any sympathy for Bonds since then.
I feel sorry for Nikolai Bonds. His father has never grown up, and it's hard to imagine that his family life has ever been remotely stable. At 19, he's still got a chance to grow up, maybe even become reasonably happy. It's not going to be easy, though. Not with the hand he's been dealt.
What he DID say was that parents have a major influence on children. If those parents are good people and teach good morals, then more than likely their kids will be good people. Barry Bonds, in his opinion, wasn't and isn't a good role model for his son, which could be part of the reason that he is the way he is.
Why is that even something an MLB reporter has any business posting though? That's just an attempt to start unnecessary controversy. This is a personal issue for the Bonds family, and it has zero to do with Major League Baseball.
OK, a few hypothetical news stories. Which do you see fit for a MLB blog?
1)Barry Bonds' son assaults mother
2)Alex Rodriguez and Duane Kuiper involved in gay love affair
3)Joe Morgan shot someone
4)Alex Ochoa starting a cookie cutter business
5)Jose Rijo getting a divorce
1) 2) and 3) would be the only ones people really cared enough about to write stories on.
Plus, it is the offseason, and they need something to fill the spaces between Roy Halladay updates. ;)
The one about cookie cutters
