Assets: Broke the major league HR mark (814), hitting over 50 homers in 6 seperate seasons. 7th all time in RBI (2113).
Drawbacks: A .199 career hitter(!). His OPS (now consider this is the all time HR king) is .700 (and it was .699 until his last season). Has far more strikeouts (2900) than hits (2300) and is the career leader in that. And he only made it to the postseason 1 time in his entire career.
not a very good hitter, he was a home run or strike out guy.
surprised he was allowed to play that long with those kinds of numbers.
I don't think you can really let a guy with a below .200 average into the hall as a hitter. and an ops of .700! he ONLY hit home runs

Was this guy on an AI-controlled team his whole career? Win any Glove Gloves? Make any all-star teams?
I vote NO. 36% of his hits were HRs, but he struck out over 25% of his ABs. So his K average was more than his batting average!!
Even if his OBP was his average, I still say no.
Plus, a trend I see for great players in BM is a near equal ammout of RBIs as Runs scored. He seemed to never be on base for others to knock him in.
What sort of defender was this guy? Stellar defense could be the kicker with the power numbers.
How bad was Detroit during his tenure? What sort of team did he have around him?
How do his numbers compare to other players of his era? Are HR hitters common?
I parsed a few numbers.
35.6% of hits were HR
HR represent 38.5% of his RBI total directly.
1261 extra base hits 6th all time behind Willie Mays
A power hitter with that low of a slugging percentage, really isn't that valuable of a hitter.

Ya, i say no to the hall of fame. But a ton of writers would vote him in.
Obviously we do not have ALL of the information, basically, what kind of teams was he on (but you did say he was only the in the postseason like once or twice), but I can't say yes to someone that really wasn't that valuable.

Mind if i ask a random question. How tall is he and how much does he weight. If you could post a screeny of his vital page I would be happy.
The only way this guy is a Hall of Famer is if the average OBP in his era was around .238.

To you and Ewing, some bad news probably: I was just doing a bunch of 50 year sims to see what are the most stable settings to settle down from the rise of talent levels so unless he was in the last sim, he's already been deleted.
