I believe Venditte has a chance to be a real everyday major league reliever. He put up ridiculous numbers in High A. There isn't any reason to think he couldn't repeat those numbers in the higher minor leagues or in the major leagues even. He is still pretty young, and has developed good solid pitches.
I think he raised his chances at being a legitimate future option this year.
The road to the major leagues is littered with position players and pitchers who put up ridiculous numbers at High A and higher and didn't make a dent in MLB. Let's give him a chance to progress before we crown him the next...um, well there's never been another one like him has there? Hrrm.Quote:

but as of right now, there isn't any reason to think he can't preform at the next level....and we all know there is a major bump in the competition at Double A over Single A's and Rookie League Ball.
I bet that by 2012 he will at least be in Triple A and still developing. I don't know how much of a career that would allow (he will be 27 then) but that means he could easily be placed on an active roster at some point.
I don't see the Yankees bringing him up unless he can compete. Not as a side show.
But you are correct, there are tons of players with great minor league careers that never even reach the majors, or if they do, can't stay there.

Does he regularily change arms when pitching and is he just as good with each arm???
Without looking at a scouting report and going on what I read awhile ago I think he throws different pitches with different arms, but yes he does change regularly.Quote:

Right now he is being used as a closer and pitches right handed against righties and left handed against lefties, and picks based on scouting reports which arm when facing switch hitters.
He is just as effective from each side, but as tang says, he doesn't throw all the same pitches from each side.
He throws harder from the right side then he does the left side, but he is still effective from each side.
when he was in creighton, he was used as a situational reliever, and if he was used one day and threw 40 pitches from the right side, they would still use him the next day from the left side.
