I would put Huntington over Mozeliak...so yes, I would.

What does Huntington have to do with it? :p I'd assume that if you weren't a Mariners fan, your pick would still be Zduriencik.... I just don't think you'd be calling him out like you are. Yeah, just sayin' though... :) And when I mentioned Huntington, I meant that Mozeliak is third or fourth on my list. Yes, part of the reason I really like Z is because I'm a Mariners fan, but I would also pick Huntington over Mozeliak anyways.

Not sure this should have to do much with a serious GM evaluation. A first year GM taking over a roster that has been ran by the likes of Bill Bavasi would need to be a miracle-worker to get the team into the playoffs. I think postseason or not should be a secondary concern to the individual moves the GM made and whether or not he has a coherent plan and is working towards that plan.

He's saying that the guy was wrong to choose Mozeliak over Z. I'm saying you're never wrong by picking a GM who's team made the playoffs.

depends on the circumstances. Like, say, if that GM just took over a really good team but didn't do anything.

You definitely can be. Take the 2002/2003 Giants. Brian Sabean isn't a good GM. Those teams were good largely because of Barry Bonds, a player Sabean inherited. I don't feel like looking into the state of GM's in that time period, but I'd wager a guess that if you chose Brian Sabean as GM of the year in either of those seasons, you very well could be very wrong.
