he is working for me now, it's kind of cool, he foudn in his laptop bag the phone directory for everyone, this included mozliak, larussa, and dewitt's home phone numbers, cell phone numbers, email and office numbers.
tempted, tempted, tempted, tempted
Wait why did Guttierez not win a gold glove?
Because the Gold Gloves aren't an actual measure of defensive prowess. [/what everyone else said]
Gold Gloves are a combination of like three things - defensive reputation, offense, and having won in the past. Torii Hunter and Ichiro Suzuki have won umpteen years in a row, so, they will continue to win every year until they stop playing most likely. That means there's effectively one GG spot for outfielders that aren't named Hunter or Ichiro. For some reason, the coaches picked the young guy with the tools that played in just 119 games over the ridiculously good Franklin Gutierrez.
I am the biggest Ozzie Smith fan ever, but he won a few, that he could have easily lost to other players possibly more deserving, but no one was going to win over him as long as he was playing a good solid shortstop each year.
I love him, and not to take anything away from him, but building on what HGM said, i am not so sure he really deserved some of the final one's he won.
Ranking of each winner by UZR:

3B - Evan Longoria (1st of 8)
SS - Derek Jeter (5th of 10)
OF - Adam Jones (17th of 34)
OF - Torii Hunter (13th of 34)
OF - Ichiro Suzuki (12th of 34)
so, you're saying it's a popularity contest?! no way!
haha, sarcasm
I think Obama should have won it.
oh snap!
two most overated people of 2009? Obama and Jeter....fantastic
I didn't understand Adam Jones either. That one really bothered me. Knowing me, I have never taken a look at these UZR stats of yours Houston and instead I have just looked at him basic fielding stats and it really doesn't look that impressive. The only thing that some what stands out is his assists in centerfield. Other than that, he is not really that impressive to me.
Now, that Mark Teixeira ranking really surprised me but of course I didn't really think he was very worthy either. Who was ranked first at 1st base?
Adam Jones started off really well and made a bunch of plays. First impressions can be very strong.
