go Mark Sanchez....need 26 or so pts!!
:) I win!
4-1 with an absolutely pathetic team.
horrific overturn of the Sanchez to Edwards TD pass. that cost me the f'in game. his shin was down at the 1 but he wasn't touched until the ball broke the plane of the endzone. how the umps had irrefutable evidence to overturn it is amazing.:mad:
Just an awful performance from my team this week. Trent Edwards...incapable of producing AGAINST THE BROWNS. I had not one but TWO receivers not catch so much as a single pass. Just ghastly. Changes will be made.
Trying to pull off the blockbuster deal of our league.
3-2 after a nice win this week but hey I'm in 2nd.
Well first off I hate waiver wire, its gay. 2nd Thanks to whoever for foiling my third attempt to pick up a QB. I quit.
Maybe pick up Cassel? He's going against a weak Skins D, he might produce numbers. Or Garrard against St.Louis, Delhomme (if you still think he has a rebound game, which I do) against TB- decent enough one week fillers to get by this week.
Well, actually, because of waivers, Cassel might be the only one you can get. A below average starter is better than none?
Augh, if this trade isn't negotiated soon, I might have to offer to someone else.
any where where we can talk in a chat like format?
Ewing, you got two players on bye. If I'm gonna beat you, it's gonna be fair!
Ben+deangelo+troy=brees+grant+harvin+welker+newman
you have to play the waiver game...if you wasted your waiver position in earlier weeks by making waiver signings on players that you could have waited a day to sign in FA...then you fall on the sword.
quitting in week 6??? one of the weakest things ive ever heard of rage. I have the second highest amount of points scored in this league yet have a 2-3 record. My total points are not in any way a reflection on one or two huge weeks, i've had solid weeks every week but have played teams that have had their best weeks. I've lost two games while scoring over 250pts in each of those!! Bad bad luck...yet i'm not throwing in the towel. I'm disappointed in you.
i nearly hit the vote against button but i don't do that.
horrific trade for johnson & johnson...i don't get it at all. He moves the games best QB and fantasy option in Brees as well as a very good RB on a scoring team in Grant and gets an average at best fantasy QB in Rothlisberger and a RB in Deangelo who's on a team with significant struggles and is obviously not much of an upgrade over grant. To top it off he throws in Welker and Harvin who have upside.
As for Troy...never trade offensive value for defensive.
Terrible...A+ for Ewing, F- for Johnson.
I took a gamble.
Ben's playing in a pass first offense and lighting it up...and playing against some of the weaker pass defenses for the rest of the year. He's not average anymore, he's elite now, and I'm taking a gamble he's going to put up big numbers on every opponent not name the Ravens. Brees, on the other hand, is elite...but I needed Deangelo.
Deangelo is on a team with pass problems, so I'm taking another gamble and traded for him in hopes he's going to run the ball a lot and get points for Carolina. Grant plays in a pass first offense and is declining...he's not good anymore.
I gave Welker and Harvin away because I believe I have the WR to withhold a drop in talent in that position. Granted, I probably didn't need to throw Harvin, but I don't think Favre can continue with his magnificence, and Welker's "injury prone" this year. Besides, I think Garcon who has Manning passing to him, and Hines who has Ben passing to him will do decent. And I'm banking on Miles Austin, Johnny Knox, and Devin Hester to at least give me 15 points a game each when I start them.
And I took Troy for Newman as a quick exchange as filler.
I think Ben=Brees as of right now due to the weak pass D Ben has to face, I think Deangelo is a significant improvement over Grant due to Carolina completely sucking at the pass and therefore get more carries for Deangelo, Welker's "injury prone" this year, and Harvin won't be as good.
Oh well...time will tell. But Ben is not average anymore, he's elite, especially with Arian's pass first philosophy.
I don't know, maybe I could have gotten more for Brees...but I know Ben's going to put up big numbers and gambling that Deangelo will. I know Ewing got the better of the deal...but I think I made an upgrade for myself in RB and a slight upgrade in QB at expense of two good Wideouts...which I can always pick up because I always do. If you think it's bad, it's your opinion, but in my opinion I felt my backs weren't producing enough for me so I traded for one playing weak run defenses in the next few weeks for a run oriented team.
hey, appreciate the analysis. i definetly could be underrated Big Ben..i dunno. He's a great QB but i don't see him as the fantasy stud but honestly I haven't looked at his numbers that close. I think Grant and DeAngelo are a toss up with a slight edge to DeAngelo...but i've been on the wrong end of most of my RB analysis of late so I wouldn't put any money on it.
good luck
Rage, I sent you a trade offer rearding me sending you Kerry Collins
[QUOTE]I think Ben=Brees as of right now due to the weak pass D Ben has to face/QUOTE]
Even though you are right on the defenses (Ben faces mostly weak defenses) I still am going to have disagree heavily on that Brees=Ben comment. Ben has been excellent this season, but in fantasy, he is no where near the kind of production of Drew Brees.
For reference, here is Pitt's remaining schedule with pass defense (yards given up per game) ranking.
For all of Cleveland's struggles, their pass defense has been their best part.
Cleveland-10th.
Minnesota-18th (fairly weak)
Denver-5th
Cincinnati-23rd (weak!)
Kansas City-29th
Baltimore (twice)-26th (Shocking isn't it?)
Green Bay-17th
Miami-19th
[QUOTE=OregonDuck1989;1391393]i don't put alot of stock int he pass defense ratings this early in the season to be honest. defenses sometimes take a bit longer to get rolling, it is a "small sample" and some of these teams may have played high power passing games. I think Baltimore, GB, and Miami for example are much better than their ranking.Quote:

Wow...color me a little baffled as well. I gotta say President, even after reading your post to dickay I think you're losing out. Even IF Ben for Brees and Williams for Grant are washes (definitely I would call the second shift an even deal, maybe the first), why are you throwing in 2 wide receivers on top of that? That seems like completely unnecessary overkill to me.
Yeah...I was thinking about that as well. It wasn't if I was using Harvin...I don't believe I started him ever? Welker I started when he was healthy...but key word- healthy. I don't think Welker can stay healthy on a consistent basis, in my honest opinion.
After thinking about it, I thought I could get Ben and Williams for just Brees...my thinking at that time was to throw in Grant (who I believe isn't going to do well after I believe he would do good), and two receivers I barely use to try to level the deal. Obviously, the deal is in favor for Ewing, but I like my other wide outs more than the ones I gave up.
Getting Troy, btw, was just to get my favorite player. He wasn't a factor in the equation, and I wasn't going to give up more just to get him. I gave Ewing Terrance Newman b/c I didn't need him.
Here, I believe, is the history of the trade as it evolved:
1) I offer Brees for Ben+Benson+Troy
2) He counters with Brees+Harvin for Troy+Ben+Avery
3) I counter with Brees+Grant+Hester for Troy+Ben+Benson
4) He counters with Brees+Welker+Harvin for Ben+Stewart+Avery+Troy
5) I counter with Brees+Welker+Harvin for Ben+Deangelo+Troy (Because it was coming obvious I wasn't going to get Benson, so I settled for another RB)
6) He PMs me back wanting Grant and Newman
7) So the final trade was Grant+Brees+Welker+Harvin+Newman for Troy+Deangelo+Ben
At the time of the trade, I was sick of Grant under performing, and Welker and Harvin I started only a few times, so I accepted. Maybe I should have pressured Ewing to give me a little more, but really, I just wanted a potential game changing back to complement CJ.
I probably didn't need to give up so much, but whatever, if I win, I'll just point to this trade and look like a genius :) If I lose, I'll just imagine this trade never existed.
[QUOTE=dickay;1391419] True, but Arian's philosophy is to pass, and if that doesn't work, run to open up the pass. And if that still doesn't work, just keep slinging the ball down field. So even if the defenses are stronger than their ranks, Ben will keep throwing the ball at the rate he's going because Arians loves Ben so much as a QB.
Drew Brees is the same way btw, but I'm pretty sure that the next few teams for the Steelers that they face have strong run Ds (like the Ravens), so they pass the ball more. Brees, on the other hand...I'm not sure, since I don't follow the Saints as much.
I guess my new slogan will be Ben, Johnson, and Deangelo.
Trading one of my wrs for a running back. The level of RB I get depends on which wr i give up I can add fred jackson for right deal
Well, I'm not going to veto it if that's what you mean. I do think it's a weird trade, but it isn't a talent dump or anything like that.
i dont' veto, and hate when trades are vetoed...unless its obvious collusion or a team quitting and trying to fu(k the league. people need to be allowed to make their own mistakes, and often despite how bad a trade looks it actually works out. i have my own team to run, i don't think we should be running others.
i'm just putting that out there early, because i was just in a fantasy baseball league where every other trade was vetoed. absolutely ruins the league for me.
So who is the deciding factor on this? Not that I think it is happening here, but what if? While i agree that every trade shouldn't get vetoed, we still have an option to place our opinion. Even when looking at other trades, we should at least weigh it and make sure that it is even/fair, especially when we are in a live-draft league, and have invested a bit of our time (in comparison to auto-draft, where we get what we get).
