I'll ask a question, whoever gets it right asks their own question, etc.
Out of the 67 pitchers enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame, there is only 1 who has never recorded a save in his career. Who is that one pitcher?

Babe Ruth
Note: This doesn't include guys who pitched only a couple of innings (i.e. Ted Williams), the list includes all guys with at least 450 IP who are HOFers
Hint: This guy pitched before 1900
I'm looking for a modern era starter, but am not finding one :D
I'm going to go with Tom Seaver. IIRC he came up as a starter and finished as a starter. He's one of the youngest pitchers in the HOF (surprisingly) so he's the least likely to have been used in relief when he was starting.
I looked it up now that I see that and Tom Seaver's Baseball HOF page says I'm right. Baseball-Reference says I'm wrong though.

Seaver's save.
I was posting before I saw your post. I trust B-R more than the HOF website though. I let them know of their error.
So does anyone have another guess? Remember, this pitcher played his entire career before 1900.
Reported.
And the answer is Candy Cummings. Someone else ask a question now.
Ah, 19th century baseball. Look at his 1872 line. 497 IP. Did they still throw underhand back then? (And if he did get a save, would it have been recorded?)

Isn't Candy one of a handful of guys who get credited with throwing the first curve ball?
He was also the first baseball player to have a porn star name. Shannon Stewart is the most recent.
Previously a ball that was hit and bounced over the fence was considered a home run. In what year was the ground rule double created.
Who are the only two American League outfielders to win the Gold Glove in this decade to not win a Silver Slugger in their career.
OTHER ONE WAS CLOSER....http://www4.stat.ncsu.edu/~reiland/baseball.html
Name the baseball player I'm thinking of.
Who was the last major league player who won a batting title without hitting a single homerun?
Rod Carew in '72?
