So, is FM 2007 worth $4?
Found a boxed Football Mogul 2007 today at Big Lots for $4 and was wondering if it was worth the purchase. I've heard some negative things about it, but since I am a casual football fan versus a fanatic baseball fan, I thought I might could enjoy the simulation style of it.
So, yea or nea?
(BTW, I liked the name "Sports Tycoon". Any reason we have "Sports Mogul" for BBM?)

$4? Sure, why not?
Anyway, where are you getting "Sports Tycoon" from? As far as I know Clay specifically fought against using the Tycoon "brand". That makes me wonder if what you're seeing is (real) pirated software...

For $4, I would go for it. I'm a casual football fan myself and started with 2008. I liked it enough that I bought 2009 and am looking forward to the next version.

Well, I checked for the "Enlight" logo and found it, so I just assumed that is was a way to sell FM to those who liked the Roller Coaster Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon, ect. Big Lots is usually pretty good about not selling illegit stuff.
I'm not sure if I'm getting out that way today, but I'll try to get a pic of it and post it.
EDIT: Here, I found a pic of the exact box online.

Re: So, is FM 2007 worth $4?
I found it at Big Lots for $4. It was worth the $4. I think that's where I found an older BM for $4 also.

Re: So, is FM 2007 worth $4?
THere is a few bugs and I had the life expectancy of players, but it's well worth $4.

Those who voted no, could you give any reasons as to why?

Really can't go wrong for $4...

Re: So, is FM 2007 worth $4?
Just bought the game at Big Lots myself. I actually looked at the game box for like the past three months before I broke down and bought the game. I figured that playing as a manager rather than a coach would not be all that much fun. Dang if I ain't having more fun trading players than actually playing the games (sometimes). Looking forward to the 2010 version this fall. I hope it will be released in some of the retail markets.
So, my CD loads a version 5.100. Is there a later version of the 2007 game, or was 5.100 the latest release?
I'm still looking mind you. Just thought someone might be able to answer the question and point me to a download link.
[EDIT] - Nevermind. I located an Unofficial Patch version 5.180. That should satisfy me until August :D

hope you didn't waste your $4 free

Re: So, is FM 2007 worth $4?
I'm pretty sure that's a pirated version. ;)

Re: So, is FM 2007 worth $4?
Wouldn't surprise me. Another post on the forum pointed it out to me.
I don't really begrudge 4 bucks, though. I've spent 10 times more on games I've played much less than FM.

$4 for a 2007 version? Could go either way, but $4 for a piece of junk?
2007? Live in the future?

Football Morgul 2007 is available for free.
Dang it! Done went and spent my 4 bucks.:p
[edit] Please don't get me wrong. I still say it was worth 4 bucks, and I'm definitely going to get the 2010 version when it gets released, unless I find out there will be no 2010 version, in which case I'll be getting FM 2009.
Love the game!
If this is being left up on Football Mogul's own site, can we not conclude this link is approved by the Administrator? I have never tried Football Mogul, mostly due to poor reviews, but I am going to download 2007 from this link and give it a shot. If I like it, then I would certainly consider buying the 2010 version. If this is a pirated link, then I will immediately delete the game from my hard drive - I am very anti-piracy (it ended the Eastside Hockey Manager series).

I don't see any patches for Football Mogul here - can I ask where you found 5.180? Thanks!

Re: So, is FM 2007 worth $4?
I downloaded 2007 to introduce me to the mysteries of FM, and am enjoying it, immensely - and all that I'm doing right now is holding "scrimmages"! (to check out which plays work for my "sign-up" (hint; hint) team, and which, don't).
The only drawbacks, so far, are that, in play-by-play mode, the game, at the end of the 1st quarter, at times, suddenly sims the rest of the game, taking it out of my hands.
Neither can I get the running game going...is it me?...my personnel? ...a bug?
I will have to work on my demo 2010 to make sure that it doesn't have the same problems, ere I buy the full version

Re: So, is FM 2007 worth $4?
Got a copy at Big Lots for $6. Can't say it was worth it, and nothing I saw in it would make me purchase another version of it. Problems I had;
1. For some reason the AI had a tendency to replace all my skill position srarters with their subs late in the third or early in the fourth quarter. And would not let me put the starters back in. In several cases, I was in tight games and basically was handicapped. On a couple of occasions, it also did this for the other team.
2. Had a number of games where the AI started subs for the other team. Again, nothing on the roster for the other teams showing injuries to the starting players shown on their roster. Just didn't play them.
3. Running in the game is so ineffective for the most part I've pretty much stopped doing this except when trying to run off time on the clock.
Actually, most of the problems are on the pbp mode. And for me, I'm looking at the whole package, not just doing the GM side of things. Hate to say it, but I never thought I'd see a game which made the old "Season Ticket Football" game look good by comparison.
For $4 it might be worth it. At $6, I feel a bit ripped off.

Re: So, is FM 2007 worth $4?
Try the demo for 2010, as the A.I. is much improved. I did end up buying it the next time I went to Big Lots, and I really couldn't complain for $4 bucks.
The demo, though, is leaps and bounds above 2007. I probably won't buy it just because of my monetary issues and because I am just a casual football fan, but it really is a big improvement.

I was in your boat and bought football mogul for 4 bucks. It is.... interesting. Missing a lot of what I love about baseball mogul, but not bad for the price. Liked what I saw of the features being added for 2010 though
