I'm all in agreement. Not only as a Boise State fan, but as a fan of college football, and as a guy who wants to see the excitement of things like the NFL playoffs be able to carry over to the college game.
I hate this argument (which was put forth by the BCS head guy today), that a playoff would endanger the bowl games, and blah blah blah the tradition of bowl games and blah blah blah blah.
Really, the one argument that completely destroys that bowl game argument is this:
Is the sport not bigger than the individual games?
Seriously, the bowl games only have the tradition and pomp that they have because of the history of the game. IT IS NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. The "endangered bowl game" argument is the weakest argument for anything, anywhere. Down with the bowl games... let's make the sport even better, and bring it into the 21st century. It's similar to media companies following old timey practices and being all up in arms when "money is being stolen out from under their noses" while they, at the same time, hesitate, and often refuse, to bring the economics of entertainment into modern times.

Actually this is exactly what government should be doing. Since college football is a business the rules should be exactly the same for everyobody. No team or group of teams should be able to get in to the lucrative bowls much easier than any other. As for the BCS bowls, they are breaking anti-trust at this point. If the top schools still want to collect large bucks from scholarship programs, they must include non BCS schools. They have refused this recently, so this is gonna be fun to watch.
First off, steroids is a SPORTS issue not a government one. But rape and pillaging? That's law, dude. That has nothing to do with sport. The government should get involved with LAW but not with sports issues like steroids, the BCS having a playoff, or otherwise.Quote:
