David Wright is younger and has more room to grow from his .924 OPS last season not to mention he has better defense.
The last 2 years David Wright has been worth 33 & 34 million dollars at the age of 24/25. Alex Rodriguez has been worth 27 & 39 million the last 2 years. Even if you think A-Rod is better than Wright, it is in no way 'laughable'.
