Re: Who will be canned first?
Man I try to give managers the benefit of the doubt when it comes to situations, but dude you are given every reason to put Soria in the 8th. Plenty of rest and a day off to boot. There is no excuse that can save you in my eyes. Percentages my butt, cuz you failed with your decisions.
If fired, he would fit perfectly in Washington if they didnt already have a loon there.
I want to point out, this is why I love Maddon so much for the Rays, he just puts in who he thinks will get the job done and most of the time hes right.
Re: Who will be canned first?
who else could be fired then?

The funny thing is, I'm 100% confident that the percentages say you'll win a tie game, bottom of the 9th, more often if you use one of the top 5 relievers in the game than if you use a homer-prone reliever who has had only 3 good seasons in an 11 season career.

Agreed. Maddon is one of my favorite managers, and he manages the bullpen well because he managers to the strengths of his players instead of inning-specific roles.
I like Manny Acta too, based on what he's said about strategy (reading BP, not liking the SB unless you can do it at a high percentage, not sac. bunting too much, etc.), but can't say I like how he's handling the people on the team.

I think if the Yankees are struggling at the All Star break, you could find Joe Girardi on the hotseat.
Re: Who will be canned first?
I would say that Joe Girardi is close. After the record setting (NYY) loss to Cleveland, their are going to be heads on the chopping block. 1st to go is the pitching coach, but Joe is next.
Re: Who will be canned first?
You can only do so much with the team handed to you, but you gotta expect that with New York, just because you shell out truckloads of money to players that cant play defense for the most part you still have to win gosh darned it.

Much better Ned Flanders.

first manager fired will be....man this is tough. there aren't any obvious candidates. i don't think hillman or acta will get canned. Maybe Dusty Baker?
Re: Who will be canned first?
Unless the Cubs are dreadful, definitely not.
Re: Who will be canned first?

Maybe he meant that Cincy would expect to take the division if the Cubs are terrible and if they didnt then he would get canned?
Re: Who will be canned first?
No, that was just a complete brainfart. :p
