Analytical report for school...ideas?
So, for my business communications class, our final report is a team analytical report that I'm working on with two other students. We've tentatively chosen our topic as something having to do with sports teams building new stadiums, and whether it's a good idea for profit and all that. Our professor said that we have to include like a list of recommendations such as "If you want to best maximize profit, build a stadium in a market of so-and-so size".
So, does anybody have any ideas regarding this topic? Any sites, reports, studies, etc. to point me towards? Just anything at all?

use the mets as an example of a bad idea with that piece of crap they built... they even ADMIT in a new stadium they didnt sell out on OPENING DAY!!! plus how the hell do you build a stadium in 2009 with seats that dont show the whole field. even in SHEA you could see the whole field...
then look and show how FLA proposes to increase profits by spending all this $$$ on a new stadium to increase fans at the games
Re: Analytical report for school...ideas?
Well, I was planning on looking at some of the recent new stadiums and comparing attendance/profit before and after the new stadium was built, so the brand new stadiums wouldn't work for that.
Re: Analytical report for school...ideas?
ah IC.
well there certainly were a ton of new staduims in teh last 10 years. I think there were 10-12. pretty good idea tho I like it.

Use Camden as an example, or PNC. Both are great stadiums, and both always have small crowds.
Re: Analytical report for school...ideas?
Cost-benefit analysis of stadium options (a new waterfront stadium contra development of Eden Park) in Auckland, New Zealand. I hope this can give you some ideas.

Re: Analytical report for school...ideas?
The DC Statehood Green Party might have some info on the Nationals Stadium; they were strongly opposed to it at the time, since it came along right as DC General Hospital was closed.
Re: Analytical report for school...ideas?
Just for some 'fill' you might take a look at the Pats failed effort to build one in South Boston. Anything they could do wrong they did. It was a failure to listen to communites concerns even though most felt it would be a positive for the area. As I said, it would just be for some color.
Re: Analytical report for school...ideas?
Pac Bell Park in San Fran might be a good example to use, as they used private funding to finance it and they have increased attendance and revenues since they opened it compared to old candlestick.
The Business of Sports
This might give you some good info, check out Chapter 5, Stadiums and Arenas.

If it's a business communications class, is analyzing the team's communications in building their new stadium your main objective? Could you post the assignment paper so we can get a better idea about your report?
Re: Analytical report for school...ideas?
"Business Communications" refers to learning how to write business documents and the sort, so, in this case, an analytical report.
The assignment is very general:
6. Report topics Due: Select any business related topic. Your report must include a graphic depiction (see pp. 284-289), internet research, primary and secondary research, an executive summary, proper citations and must not exceed 10 double-spaced word processing pages. See pp. 291-300 for report illustration. This is a team project. Your project group consists of 3 members. Each team member must post the same assignment for each assignment. Failure to post a team assignment will result in an “F” grade for that team member.

Um please elaborate on WTF you are talking about... have you ever been to Citi Field? have you even seen a picture of it? It's one of the nicest ballparks in baseball, if not the nicest. And that isn't even bias talking. The only other one I've seen that is arguable is PNC... and I haven't seen SD but I heard it's very nice, so you could argue that too.

In Citi Field, all the seats are pointed towards the playing field. There are no obstructed seats.
