I was. It wasn't until after I did the move (immediately after) that I realize "WTF AM I DOING?"
Just thought I'd tell you why your first baseman is 0 for his last two games.
Yep, as soon as I put him on my team, Ofers.
At this point I think if Ted Williams were active and available, he'd stink so bad he'd get sent to the minors if I put him on my team.
Zito goes 7 deep for the second start in a row allowing only 2 runs. The hate Dodgers go down 5-4 and all is well for the orange and black.
I hate Pinero...but i can't say much, dude is 4-0 and only allowing ground balls
You can say that he's extremely lucky to be 4-0 ;) He's not going to survive much longer while striking out barely 2 batters per 9 innings and walking an equivalent amount. His HR/FB rate also isn't going to stay at that very miniscule 4.3% (he's been at 10.9% or higher every year since 2004).
He'll still need to up that strikeout rate. Even the most extreme groundballers can't survive with a K-rate around 2. Since 1990, there have only been 5 seasons where a pitcher pitched enough to qualify for the ERA title and had a K rate below 3.
Mark Knudson, 1990
Nate Cornejo, 2003
Kirk Rueter, 2004
Bill Gullickson, 1992
Ricky Bones, 1993
They each had ERA+'s between 88 and 94 (100 = park-adjusted league average).
he was DEFINATLY pitching to contact last night... 65 pitchers after 6 innings :(
The Mets have had triples in 9 consecutive games... by 9 different players!
I feel like OFG at this moment. From 7-2 to 7-7... Penny just gave up a long ball... Lugo has an error (Of Course)....
Oh my god Motte is in facing Schafer this cant be pretty:eek:
ARGH! Get Penny out of there!
The guy at the plate looks like Scott Rolen
Son, you've got a long way to go before you'll feel the agony and suffering that is inflicted upon OFG almost daily by his Nationals. Baby steps OFG, baby steps. Firing nincompoop GM, huge step...It'll get better. As for you RSR: your team's won 10 in a row, simmer down, it's a long season. Don't add to your list of infirmities by freaking out over every little dip your team takes: it's just not worth it. ;)
DOUBLE PICKOFF!!!!
Omfg
This is funny. When I left, the Yankees were tied with the Tigers 0-0. When I came back, only one inning passed, yet we were leading 10-1.
Also Hughes was very accurate tonight. Amazing game for him tonight.
Damnit Nathan.
yea... go reys... up your trade value :D
Rox bullpen failed
[EDIT]: Is failing
Big Z with his 17th career home run. 3-4 on the night. Triple short of the cycle. Cubs leading 11-1 in 7th. Isn't pitching to bad either.
Hitting fail *Check*
Starting Pitching Fail *Check*
Base-Running Fail *Check*
Relief Pitching Fail *Check*
Manager Fail *Check*
It's good to know that they are good at something
another grat game... jeffy... its on tomorrow :D
wainwright vers vazquez... should be about 15-12 lol
Speaking of pitchers who can hit, I was wondering if Rick Ankiel will ever try to pitch again. We all assume that his control was in his head. Being a center fielder who can hit has got to be good for your confidence. So maybe now he can throw strikes again too...
I love the way Lookout Landing describes stuff
I seriously laughed so loud I think I woke someone up, haha.Quote:
Ahead 4-0, Felix switched from normal Felix mode to ****-you-I'm-Felix-Hernandez mode,
Bay has walked as many times (22) s he did with the Sox last year, in less then HALF the games :D. BUT, The Sox lost.... :( AND the Rox lost...
I wish he would of. But no way LaRussa let's him. They likely look at this situation and say let's let him be consistent as an outfielder before trying that expierement again....And Rick probably sees that as a different life. I do wish though, use him to pitch every once in awhile but he is still a center fielder, he can come on in relief
But LaRussa's also famous for some non-standard strategies. Like batting the pitcher 8th. Or having his starting pitchers just go three innings.
For example, Ankiel's a lefty, so he could come in from the outfield to face one lefty without having to pull the starting pitcher.
Or how cool would it be if Ankiel was the starting pitcher and also the #5 batter...
I'm getting very sick of David Wright's suckiness
On the Ankiel pitching thing - I was in Miami for them brining in Cody Ross, their right fielder, to pitch. Now he only threw fastballs, but he worked his way up from 79mph to the low 90's as he got loose. He also had a 1-2-3 inning.
Why more position players - Swisher, Ankiel, tony Pena Jr, even Ichiro - aren't used as swing man/mop-up pitchers more often has always bothered me. As a fan, I love when a guy has the guts to do that - and when he succeeds, I love him all the more. I am, for instance, now a Cody Ross fan for life.
but I thought he was a s good as a-rod lol
it would be EXCLENT for a guy like Ankiel come come on in a righty lefty matchup so you don't have to burn a pitcher... Think what it would be like to have 2 lefty relievers and have an extra bench spot for a late inning defensive move... Now THAT would be good roster management
