BARMES!!!!!
(I love you Barmes)
Lincecum struck out 12 dbacks tonight, thats 25 dbacks in back to back starts.
Don't you have to pitch a pitch if you warm up to start the inning?
Love that part about what injury they've made up :DQuote:
Chien-Ming Wang - SP - Yankees
The Yankees will place Chien-Ming Wang on the DL prior to Saturday's game.
No word yet on what injury they've made up, but MLB really doesn't care much about that kind of thing. David Robertson will be recalled to add some bullpen depth for the weekend, and Phil Hughes will probably be brought up to start in Wang's place next week.
Come on Ianetta
Big L to the bullpen
Youk is awesome
As soon as he hit it I thought it was gone then as it was comming down I tought he missed by about a foot until it went over... what a shot :D taht is a SERIOUS HR. 379 plus over a 30 foot wall. I dont understand how people say its a small park... its got in INSANELY high wall in LF how is it small
I never thought of big papi as a consistent excellent hitter....he is a solid hitter who has a had a few good years, I would take Howard over him. But I wouldn't also say he is done
Whether or not Big Papi realizes he has to make adjustments to his swing will decide whether or not he's done.
From 2003-2007 he was one of the top and most consistent players in the MLB, all his OPSes over .960 over that stretch. He topped 100 walks in 2005-2007(Led League twice, and once in OBP. His OBP was over .400 2004-2007), 30+ HRs 2003-2007(Led in 2006), and topped a .600 SLG% 2004-2007, and batted over .300 3 times from 2004-2007. He was not even that bad last year, had a .877 OPS, .507 SLG.
Ryan Howard has one season with an OPS over 1.000 (Ortiz had 3), Does not walk as much, Had a virtually identical season to Ortiz last year (OPS of .881 vs .877, and had a 30 point lower OBP) He also hits far less doubles, for lower average, and strikes out more. David Ortiz's top 3 OPS+ are virtully equal to or above Howard's best season, and Howards other seasons are all around 20+ points lesser. Ortiz obviously was better in his peak, and even now is not really any worse. And he was FAR more consistent from 2004-2007 then Howard has been in his career....
They're actually pretty similar players. I think that it will end up that Howard will have a bit higher peak value, but Ortiz will have a higher career value. But if we're talking about picking one of them to be on your team right now, or for the next 2-3 seasons, you should pick Howard, because he's 4 years younger, and Ortiz might not last another 2-3 seasons unless he really turns things around.
I'm posting this here, even though it may belong in the Sports Mogul Roto thread, because it appears I've got a very real, very measurable effect on baseball players. Thus this has a very real effect on MLB.
You see, when I put a baseball player on my team, HE IMMEDIATELY SUCKS! What a gift! ! ! ! If only the roto team had a roster big enough, I could put all the other players in the National League on my team and the Nats might have a chance! ! ! ! It's foolproof!
Seriously, I've made three moves to my offense so far. Three. And not only have all three failed, they've failed in epic proportions and the timing of the epic fail can't help but lead one to the conclusion that I have an effect on MLB. Below are the very real before and after numbers of all three of my moves. The numbers those players put up before I grabbed them, and the numbers after. I would laugh if I weren't so busy crying.
So, what do you think, in the interest of all the rest of the teams in MLB, should I refrain from making any more moves???? That's what I'm thinking. Or, alternatively, I'm thinking that if I make good players suck, maybe I can make sucky players good, and move as many Nats on my team as possible.
Well..Bonaficio was always going to fail. He was hot against Washington National pitchers....He'll always have value for his speed, but nobody was honestly projecting him to suddenly breakout.
Delgado will probably come out of his funk soon, but he was never projected to have much of a batting average anyways.
Randy Winn..he'll probably have another year just like every other year of his, just give him time.
baker gets tossed... maybe now the reds might win lol
could you pick up some of the key Dodgers players please? thanks ;)
same with the marlins lol
Anyone on the Red Sox, Yankees or D-Rays. Even the Orioles if you have room!
I love playing the Natinals. Best defense in baseball by far. :D
Go Derek Lowe :D
Exactly.
Be patient with the last two..Don't overreact to small sample sizes for players that have a track record.
But, Bonifacio, a player without a top prospect pedigree, and with horrible plate discpline, and who's hot start was against a team with terrible pitching...all those signs point to him not being true, and his hot start being just due to small sample size.
