A+ to Joe Torre for bringing in his closer in the 8th inning and letting him finish it out (assuming he does finish it out successfully).
wild pitch. runners on 2nd and 3rd. Two out.
Whew!

not striking out doesn't mean squat. Unless you want Yuni then I would be glad to trade him for pretty much any other starter in the league. :)
well I wouldnt say it doesnt meen squat... unless you are not striking out because you are hitting into DP's all the time. When you hit the ball you have more of a chance to get a productive out... IE a Sac Fly. There is ALWAYS an exception to the rule but generaly you have more of a chance to make a productive out putting the ball in play, as opposed to striking out.
Made up for by the fact that he as absurd range for a first basemen.
Of course not striking out is better than striking out. However, you cannot draw any overall conclusions about a player based on whether or not he strikes out a lot. There are many awesome players that strikeout a lot, and many awesome players that don't. There are many crappy players that strikeout a lot, and many crappy players that don't. A player's strikeout rate has very little meaning to his overall value as a hitter.Quote:

Hmmm,
I'm going to use my psychic abilities and claim I'll bet I can predict both the Fox Saturday game and ESPN Sunday game.
Does Cal Ripken look like an alien in this picture?

Just cause he's green?
Yeah, I know. If I were the networks, I'd probably do the same thing. I guess as neither a Yanks/Sox fan though, it gets old. I guess it's a jealousy sort of thing.
But yeah, I know why. Being two of the best three draws PLUS the intense rivalry I'd imagine makes two of the best three draws EVEN MORE of a draw when they play each other.
My only real complaint is with FOX, cause I can't watch the other games even though I've paid for MLB Extra Innings. I know WHY that is too, but I don't like it. At least with ESPN Sunday night's game, that's usually the only game going anyway. Not so with FOX's, there are usually plenty of other games, most of which I'd rather see than Yanks/Sox (Unless it was Yanks/Sox in the playoffs, THAT I'd be glued to :D).
If the Dodgers sweep the Rockies this weekend I'm gonna flip.
I'm going to the game tomorrow, they better win at least that one.
What's the pitching matchup? I don't care enough to check.
Bad news for the Royals
I'll pray that they don't give Farnsworth any SVO.Quote:
Joakim Soria - RP - Royals
Royals closer Joakim Soria will miss at least this weekend's series against the Tigers with a sore shoulder, though an MRI revealed no structural damage.
"There is no structural damage," manager Trey Hillman said. "He's on special medication, and he's doing some exercises." The Royals say they don't plan to put him on the disabled list, but he is expected to miss 3-5 days. Juan Cruz and Kyle Farnsworth will likely get save chances in Soria's absence, so grab Cruz for saves, Farnsworth for blown saves.

According to MLB Gameday...Scott Olsen's average FB today is 83.7 MPH...all I can say is..WOW.
If you're talking about Scott Olsen of the Nats (I can't recall another Scott Olsen, but who knows?), then on MASN's coverage the gun has him at 87-89. It's also got Santana at 94 a couple of times, but mostly 92-93. What's MLB Gameday saying about Santana??? Or is there another Soctt Olsen and we're talking about two different games???
It's the same Scott Olsen. :p
As soon as the next inning starts, I'll let you know what gameday says about Johan
Johan 88.9 according to gameday
gotta love XM radio listening to the Cincy announcers and when this game is over who shall I listen to :D
Rays vs A's
Mariners Vs Angels
Pirates Vs Padres
Or Giants Vs Dbacks if they are still on.
Im thinking Rays Vs A's
On a related note...
what is a pitches velocity? It loses velocity during the entire 57ish foot flight from pitcher's hand to catcher's glove, batter's bat, ground, screen, batter's body, ump's face mack, etc...
When is the reading made?
Zack Attack thru 3 with the streak still intact. 37
He can't keep this up....can he, er, He?
