OLD SCHOOL BASEBALL ! ! ! ! LOVE IT ! ! !

A (gasp!) COMPLETE GAME !! :eek:

LOL, even the announcers, after the 7th inning, said "Well if that's it for the young man, he's had a great start." Yep, that's what today's baseball is reduced to. 7 innings, 3 hits, 1 run, about 80 pitches, and the announcers, like many others watching the games today, thought that would be it.

NOPE.

Complete game. COMPLETE GAME ! ! ! A NATS :eek: pitcher threw a complete game win for the first time in nearly THREE YEARS.

Sad commentary on the game today, but a great performance, worth watching from beginning to end. Seemed like old times. Guess Manny Acta didn't get the memo about 100 pitches being THE MAGIC NUMBER ABOVE WHICH NO HUMAN ARM CAN PITCH, cause he left him in for a whopping 110 :eek: pitches.

And now, if the kid gets hurt at ANY TIME IN HIS CAREER, someone will point back at this and say "YEP, SEE, HE BROKE THAT MAGIC NUMBER AND LOOK, HE'S HURT." And everyone will buy into that ********, and it'll be another 3 or 5, or 7 years before another pitcher does it.

I think you're overreacting just a tad ;). Nobody's going to point to a 110 pitch outing. Now, if it was 140, maybe.

LOL, yep, but I think generally, managers in games are WAY overreacting on the pitch count issue now as it is too, so I'm allowed to overreact in the other direction. :D

And another benefit of the "old school" type of game. Note the time of game.

No Braves because of a stupid tornado warning about 75 MILES FROM WHERE I LIVE!!!

It's not enough to show a goddamn warning at the bottom. No, we have to interupt the game bacause in one small corner of Alabama, there MIGHT be a tornado.

WE NEED ROUND THE CLOCK COVERAGE FOR WHAT COULD BE A TORNADO FOR 0.00001 % OF OUR VIEWING AREA!!!!!

Don't talk to me about saving lives, preventing damage, keeping me informed, yada yada yada... THIS IS BASEBALL WE'RE MISSING. Not NASCAR, not NHL, not WNBA, but BRAVES BASEBALL.
