I have 09 and now about every other time I start the game I get a message saying 10 is available and I have two choices. Go to the BBM website and buy it or remind me later. Guess which one I choose :D Does anyone know how I can disable this? Thanks

Kill it and bury it in the fruit cellar?
It shouldn't do it every time unless you only use mogul 09 once a day
You could just do what I do and don't close the program....
'Tell it to stop checking the Web for updates."
Is there a way to do that?
O.K. I found that and unchecked the box. Still being spammed. So I went ahead and clicked on the tell me more after connecting to the net. Went to the website hoping now that I've been there the message would quit. That didn't work either. There has to be some way to turn this thing off !!!
Buy BBM2k10 :D
If I can't turn this off I won't buy anything from Sports Mogul again.
I don't see why its such a big deal to have to click a button once every time you open the game...
I agree it's a rather annoying method of drumming up sales of the new version, but I also agree that it isn't THAT big of a deal.
I agree with you 100%.
It's not like you're playing a demo for free.
You purchased the game. It's yours. And getting spammed everytime you open up a game that you purchased isn't right.
Having said that, there must be some way to stop it. (Other than buying BM2010. LOL I even said that once as a joke too, but it stopped being a joke after you tried everything everyone told you to try and you're still getting spammed).
PM me to let me know how this turns out. Because I'm interested to if in fact there is no way to stop it. This just is not right.
I known BM 2010, and it doesn't stop but it really only happens for me once a day.
Am I the only person that doesn't get this when opening BM 2009, or is it because I have BM 2010 as well?
It's because you already purchased BM 2010.
No, I'm not getting it either. I haven't used 09 since I bought 10, but I tried yesterday and several times today and I didn't get spammed.
But Flapper directly above you says he owns 2010 but he is still getting spammed.
This must mean that there is something turning it off, then right??
I don't get why you and I aren't getting it but Flapper is (and we all own 2010). It's all very confusing.
I have both and have gotten the message 3 times.
First, I don't consider the message spam.
Second, since I bought BM 2009 I had to replace the hard drive could that make a difference?

Agreed
The main difference is that you've purchased a prior version of Baseball Mogul, constituting a "relationship" between business and client, so it's not something completely out of the blue. That differs from unsolicited communications from somebody trying to sell you Viagra, for example (unless of course you've bought that too :p), or trying to get you to download porn. Hopefully it ends up being fixed so it doesn't display for those who already purchased BBM 2010, because that's redundant, but I can understand the prompt for those who haven't.
It should only show up something like every 5 times you play, and never more than once per day. I'll check the code to be sure, and I'll see if there's anything I can do about it.
Clay I even got it once during the game (When I did a save). I didn't mind it showing up once to let me know that a new version is now for sale. But to have to put up with this forever ? VERY bad business practice.

me too, but I'm not all that bothered by it.
It shouldn't even be this bad guys. I know that popups are annoying, so it's programmed to only check every FIFTH time you run the game. If there's a new version, it lets you know. You buy Baseball Mogul 2009 and run it four times without it checking for a new version. The 5th time you run it, you get a popup and you just click 'Remind Me Later'. Then you run the game four more times with no messages. Then the 10th time you start Baseball Mogul, it checks again.
If it's behaving the way Clay says its supposed to then it's _definately_ not "spam". I've only seen it once and I clicked right through it. I been visiting the boards a lot so I already know that bm2k10 is for sale. Its really easy to click-through. I'm more annoyed that the box scores take so long to open because IE sucks. I certainly don't mind a quick little popup inside the game that doesn't take me to a web page or stay open under my game.
And if it's showing up more often than that then as already pointed out it's not spam, its just a bug. Like the bb2k10 bug where Perfect Scouting didn't work right. I'd rather Clay work on the game than worry about whether the new version checker is working right when we just click right on through. It sure isn't spam and it certainly doesn't deserve a thread with 30 posts in it.
Clay it seems to do it about every third time I start up and every 5th time I do a save but those numbers are an average. There really isn't a pattern as far as I can tell.
"And if it's showing up more often than that then as already pointed out it's not spam, its just a bug."
Your half right JustPats it's both a bug and spam! Or if you prefer it's buggy spam! :D
"and it certainly doesn't deserve a thread with 30 posts in it."
If you really feel that way then quit posting in it.
Hey Clay can I pay you $10 for a patch to turn this off?
