David Price starting out in the Minors.
This shocks me a just a tad considering how good he was in the minors and the playoffs last year if this happens.

Two words:
Arbitration clock.
Re: David Price starting out in the Minors.
Yeah that's gotta be the only reason. He was great last year.
Re: David Price starting out in the Minors.
Isn't this the same reason Wieters and Snider will probably begin the year in the minors?

Matt Wieters doesn't need the minors. The minors need Matt Wieters!
Re: David Price starting out in the Minors.
I've heard that David Price doesn't have his normal stuff right now and that he has some tinkering to do with his breaking stuff before the Rays feel he's ready to be a consistent ML starter.
Re: David Price starting out in the Minors.
Remember also that Longoria started last year in the minors as well...

So far this spring, Price was 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA, 10 K's in 8.1 IP, but also 6 BB.
I still say it has more to do with his service time than his "breaking stuff".

Exactly. I say Price is up by May and if he plays out to expectations they'll probably do what they did with Longoria last year. Sign him long term

What clock, he's signed a six year contract.
Nevermind...I read his contract closer.

??????? so is he still under arbitration period or does him not starting in the majors have no effect on his contract status?

Just what I read somewhere..that he was struggling to get a feel for all of his offspeed stuff. Obviously finances are a factor, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him stay in AAA for longer than expected.
