Brew City Miracle? Milwaukee Brewers 1994 and Beyond.

April 16th 1995: Brewers offense continues to have hard times.
The Brewers offense started off strong but since then have had a hard time finding runs. Today they only managed 2 of them, one a sac fly rbi from Vinny Castilla scoring Darryl Hamilton. The other was a solo shot from Jose Valentin. Darryl Hamilton was the only brewer with 2 hits. Paul Wagner was pedestrian as best he went 6 innings giving up 4ER. Jamie McAndrew gave up 2 runs in 3 innings. Chris Hoiles and Jeffrey Hammonds both hit HR’s for the Orioles, Brady Anderson got 2 hits and 2 RBI’s while Ben McDonald picked up the complete game win.

April 17th 1995: Brewers get some runs and guess what they win.
The Brewers offense got off of life support today and managed to score six runs, just enough to win. Cal Eldred was off giving up 4R and 3HR in the first 2 innings but then settled down not giving up til the 6th and finished the seventh cleanly. Jesse Orosco picked up his 4th save of the season cleanly. Kevin Seitzer went 3 for 4 on the day to lead the offense. Dave Nilsson had 2RBI’s on 2 hits as well. Vinny Castilla scored 2 runs on the day thanks to a walk and a hit. For the O’s Brady Anderson, Rafael Palmiero, and Jeffrey Hammonds all hit HR’s early while C Chris Hoiles got 2 hits on the day.

April 18th 1995: Bobby Jones falls apart in 6th Brewers lose.
Bobby Jones pitched great for 5 innings and then gave up 5 runs in the six without getting a single out. Al Reyes looked great in 3 scoreless innings of relief while Bob Scanlan gave up a run in the 9th. The Brewers tried to give themselves a chance but couldn’t fight all the way back. Brian Hunter had a strong game getting 2 hits 2 runs and a HR on the day. C Dave Nilsson got 2RBI’s on 2 hits. CF Darryl Hamilton stole 2 bases in the game. Brady Anderson killed the Brewers getting 3 hits 2R, 3RBI, and a HR on the day. Harold Baines hit a 2 run HR and Jeffrey Hammonds hit a HR for the third straight day.

April 19th 1995: Brewers defense gives up 3 errors in one game, can’t overcome Orioles, lose 3 of 4.
Angel Miranda was on his way to a great start for the Brewers when 2 errors allowed 3 runs to score and by the time the inning was over, the game for the most part was other. Angel went 5 innings giving up 6 runs while Jamie McAndrew gave up 2 unearned runs thanks to the third error. The offense was OK, Brian Hunter went 3 for 4 on the day, Darryl Hamilton hit a 2 run HR his 1st of the year. C Dave Nilsson had 2 hits again today. For Baltimore Sid Fernandez pitched 7 strong innings of 2 run ball. Rafael Palmeiro had 3 hits a HR and 6 RBI’s on the day to make sure the Brewers had no chance in this one. Brian McRae added 3 hits and a pair of runs as well.

April 20th 1995: 11 hits and only 1 run, this team stinks.
The Brewers were able to hit the ball all over the park unfortunately they were not able to string together 2 straight base runners the entire game, and as such only scored 1 stinking run Kevin Seitzer of a Brian Hunter RBI. The Brewers pitching staff tried and delivered Chris Haney gave up 1ER in 6 innings and Graeme Lloyd pitched 2 scoreless innings until Doug Henry gave up an ER and took the loss in the 9th. Kevin Seitzer, Brian Hunter, and BJ Surhoff all had 2 hits for the Brewers on the day. Robin Ventura, Frank Thomas, and Dan Pasqua each had 2 hits for the White Sox.

April 21st 1995: Brewers offense continues to stink it up.
The Brewers only managed 5 hits on the whole day. With that said it’s no wonder they lost. Jose Valentin was the only Brewer to have 2 hits on the day and provided the only HR for the Brewers. Vinny Castilla scored a run and got a hit as well as a walk while Jeff Cirillo walked twice. Paul Wagner pitched ok going 5 innings giving up 3ER. Bob Scanlan pitched 2 1/3 inning giving up and ER. White Sox pitcher Jose DeLeon pitched 8 innings giving up 2ER in the win. Roberto Hernandez picked up the save. Geromino Pena and Julio Franco each had 2 hits on the day.

April 22nd 1995: Brewers score 11 runs where has this been?
The Brewers scored early and often and made everyone scratch there head as to why they have not been consistent at all this year. Dave Nilsson went 3 for 5 with 2HR and 5RBI’s to lead the way. Jose Valentin also had a HR with 2 hits on the day. Darryl Hamilton scored 2 runs on 3 hits back in the lead off spot. BJ Surhoff and Brian Hunter both had 2 hits on the day. Cal Eldred picked up the win giving up 1ER in 6 innings. Jamie McAndrew pitched well giving up just 1ER in 2 2/3 innings. The White Sox hit the ball well Frank Thomas had 3 hits while Dan Pasqua Geronimo Pena and Ozzie Guillen all had 2 hits in the loss.

AF2K8: Thanks, I like Jaha's power but he struggles early in the season. So I'm letting him pinch hit and sub at 1st base till he starts swinging the bat better. For april he was .122 with a .421OPS in 41AB. PPPPUUUU lol.

April 23rd 1995: Brewers outhit Cleveland, lose close one.
The Brewers continued a bad habit, for the 4th time in April they outhit their opponents by a sizeable margin only to lose the game. Brewers only managed 5 runs on 12 hits while the Indians got 6 runs on only 7 hits. Jose Valentin and Brian Hunter both had 2 hits on the day. Troy O’Leary had a 2 run HR shots as well on the day. Bobby Jones gave up 5 runs in 6 innings including a big 3 run shot to Manny Ramires. Al Reyes pitched 2 scoreless innings drawing the game to a tie. Graeme Lloyd took the loss when he gave up an ER in the 9th. Brian Giles had 2 hits and 2RBI’s for the Indians on the day as well.

April 24th 1995: Brewers crank three out of County Stadium find themselves in the win column.
The Brewers finally found some pop in their bat as they fired 3 Home Runs in the game. BJ Surhoff hit a 2 run HR while Brian Hunter and Jeff Cirillo both crushed solo HR’s. Darryl Hamilton got 2 hits a run and a stolen base from the leadoff spot while Cirillo got his 2nd hit later on in the game. Angel Miranda pitched tough going 6 innings of 3ER ball while Doug Henry pitched 2 scoreless innings. Jesse Orosco got his 5th save of the year in a perfect 9th. For the Indians Manny Ramirez last years ROY got a 2 run HR while Carlos Baerga added 2 hits.

April 25th 1995: Tom Brunansky leads the way wins series against tough Indians.
Tom Brunansky started the season in the minors but was called up because the bats were struggling and he has delivered. Today he went 3 for 4 with a big 2 run HR. Dave Nilsson hit his 4th HR of the season a big 3 run shot. Jeff Cirillo also plucked out 2 hits as well. Jamie McAndrew made his first start for the Crew and was roughed up early but settled in for 4 runs in 5 innings. Ramon Garcia was the real hero getting the win in 3 scoreless innings while Jesse Orosco got the save once again. For the Indians Jim Thome hit a big run 3 HR early, Manny Ramirez got 2 runs on 2 hits, while Kenny Lofton added 2 hits. Jack Morris took the loss giving up 5ER in 6 2/3 innings.

April 26th 1995: Brewers make big comeback, win pulling away against A’s.
Paul Wagner put the Brewers in a big hole to start the game. When he left the game after 3 1/3 innings the Brewers were down 6 to 1. The pitching from there was lights out. Al Reyes, Bob Scanlan, and Jesse Orosco pitched 5 2/3 innings of 2 hit 1 run ball with Scanlan getting the win and Orosco picking up his 7th save in as many attempts. What brought the Brewers back to win though was the hitting. Jeff Cirillo went 3 for 5 with 3RBI’s, 2runs and a HR to lead the way. BJ Surhoff scored 3 runs with 3 hits and an RBI. Kevin Seitzer scored 2 RBI’s on 2 hits. Darryl Hamilton added 2 hits and Tom Brunansky added 2 RBI’s on the day as well. For the A’s the 3-4 combo of Jason Giambi and Mark McGwire crushed the Crew. Jason Giambi went 3 of 4 with 2HR 3RBI and 3runs scored. While McGwire added 3RBI’s on 2 hits and a walk.

April 27th 1995: Cal Eldred has worst outing of career, Brewers crushed.
Cal Eldred’s stat line read like a horror story. 7 hits 8 walks 10 runs (9earned) in 4 1/3 innings. By far his worst start ever he couldn’t find the plate all day. In good news youngster Ramon Garcia pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up only 1 unearned run. The Brewers offense was lead by Tom Brunansky and Vinny Castilla who both had 2 run Home runs, while CF Darryl Hamilton added 3 hits on the day. For the A’s Miguel Jiminez picked up the win while the entire A’s lineup got a hit. Giambi lead the way with 2 hits including a 3 run HR to blow the game open.

April 28th 1996: A’s unlikely Home Run carries them to victory.
The Brewers expected power in the bats of the A’s but not from OF Damon Mashore. Damon beat the Brewers today going 3 for 5 with a big solo HR that turned into the winning run of the game. Bobby Jones did OK today giving up 4 ER on 10 hits in 7 innings of work. Kevin Seitzer lead the Brewers offense scoring 2 runs on 2 hits. 1B Brian Hunter added 2 hits as well. Darryl Hamilton added a run, a RBI, and 2 stolen bases on a hit and 2 walks on the day. For the A’s Gary Sheffield added 3 hits while Ruben Sierra blasted a 2 run HR early in the game. Bob Welch picked up the win while Billy Taylor got the save.
Oakland 5 Milwaukee 4

April 29th 1996: Brewers rally in Bottom of the 9th split series with Oakland.
The Brewers went into the bottom of the 9th down 2-1. Fill in starters Pat Listach hit a big single to tie the game at 2 with 2 outs then with the bases loaded Mike Matheny hit the game winning sinlge. For the Crew 1B Brian Hunter had 3 hits on the day while BJ Surhoff and Kevin Seitzer each added 2 hits of their own. Angel Miranda did well in the starting spot going 6 innings of 1 run ball. Doug Henry gave Oakland the lead when he gave up a run in 2 innings of work. Bob Scanlan picked up the win with the scoreless 9th inning. For the A’s Jason Giambi continued to hurt the Brewers cranking out a HR on 2 hits while Mike Bordick added 2 hits on the day as well. The Brewers will enjoy a rare off day to end the tough start to may.

May 1st 1995: May doesn’t start pretty, get destroyed by Mariners.
The Brewers brought poor pitching and fielding and a lack of hitting into the game. The result was disastrous. Teddy Higuera gave up 6 runs in 6 innings though only 2 were earned thanks to a costly error followed up by a Grand Slam by C Dan Wilson. Graeme Lloyd got rocked for 5ER in 2/3 of an inning to turn a mildly poor game into something of a turd. Randy Johnson struck out 10 Brewers in 7 innings for the win. Vinny Castilla was responsible for both runs a 2 run HR, Vinny also had another hit later on. Jeff Cirillo was the only other Brewer to get a hit. Alex Rodriguez had 3 hits and 2 runs while Ken Griffey added 2 runs on 2 hits as well.
Seattle 11 Milwaukee 2

May 2nd 1995: Cal Eldred rebounds, Brewers overpower Seattle.
Cal Eldred took to the mound and boy what a difference a week makes. Cal Eldred pitched 7 innings striking out 5 and giving up just 2 runs, 1 earned. The big difference was the HR’s for the Brewers. Dave Nilsson, Vinny Castilla, and Troy O’Leary all hit 2 run Home Runs. Jose Valentin was the only Brewer with 2 hits on the day, he also added 2 runs. Ichiro Suzuki did great from the leadoff role for Seattle going 4 for 5 unfortunately for them no one else could bring him home. Tino Martinez hit a solo HR.

BREAKING NEWS: BREWERS SIGN C DAVE NILSSON TO LONG TERM DEAL
The Brewers signed 25 year old All Star catcher Dave Nilsson to a long term deal today. He signed a 5 year 9.95 million dollar deal (1.99mil/yr). This solidifies the catcher pitching for the rest of the decade and is seen as one of the best signings the Management have done in the 90’s.

May 3rd 1995: Teams combine for a wild one, 18 runs 30 hits.
Pitching was optional today as both teams hit all over the park, inside, and outside. The Brewers lineup had big games all over the place. 2B Jose Valentin went 3 for 5 with 3 runs scored including a HR and 2 SB. Brian Hunter added 2 hits, 2runs, and 2RBI’s on a Home Run. Tom Brunansky scored 3 runs on 3 hits and added 2 RBI’s. Darryl Hamilton added 2RBI’s on 2 hits while Vinny Castilla hit a 2 run HR. Bobby Jones got the win pitching 6 innings giving up 3ER. The Bullpen gave up 3ER in a poor showing. For Seattle 5 players had 2 hit days and Ichiro Suzuki had 3 hits. Suzuki went 8 for 12 in the series. Edgar Martinez hit a HR.

May 4th 1995: Brewers jump out early hang on for win.
The Brewers scored 5 runs in 2 innings and slowly let the Royals back into the game before ending it with a 6-5 win. Jeff Cirillo had 2 hits, 2 runs, 2RBI’s and a HR to lead the way. Darryl Hamilton also added 2 hits and 2 runs with a Stolen Base. Brian Hunter got 3 hits on the day while BJ Surhoff added 2 RBI’s on a hit. Angel Miranda got the win going 6 innings of 2 run ball. Jesse Orosco got the save despite giving up his 1st ER of the year. Mark Gubicza got roughed up for 5ER in 2 innings for the Royals, Bob Hamelin hit a 2 run HR.

May 5th 1995: Kansas City wins on arm of Dennis Rasmussen.
Royals pitcher Dennis Rasmussen was the difference maker in the game. Dennis went 7 1/3 innings giving up just 4 hits and 3 runs. On the opposite end Teddy Higuera was pedestrian at best giving up 5ER in 7 innings. Darryl Hamilton was the only Brewer with 2 hits, he also added a run and SB on the day. Kevin Seitzer got 2 Sac Fly RBI’s on the day. John Jaha got a walk, hit, and run on the day as well. For the Royals Bob Hamelin hit a HR again while Mark Carreon added 2 RBI’s.

BREAKING NEWS: 1B BRIAN HUNTER INJURED OUT FOR 2 WEEKS.
Brian Hunter injured his left ankle yesterday’s game against the Royals. It turned out to be less than originally thought. It was diagnosed as a slight sprain. In his absence John Jaha will get a chance to get out of his slump. If Jaha doesn’t rumor is that he will be on the trading block or possibly sent to the minors.

May 6th 1995: Brewers take full advantage of lowly Royals win easily.
Brewers had innings of 5 runs, 3 runs, and 3 runs and at one point were ahead by 11 runs. The game was never in doubt. Jamie McAndrew pitched great going 7 innings and only giving up 2ER in the win. Bob Scanlan made the game look a little closer giving up 4ER in an inning and a third. Jeff Cirillo had 4 hits a 2B and 2runs. 3B BJ Surhoff had 3 hits 3 RBI’s and 2 runs. Dave Nilsson also had 3 hits with 2RBI’s and 2 runs including a 2 run HR. Darryl Hamilton had 2 hits including a 2 run HR while Mark Loretta got 2 hits as a sub in the game. Royals Vince Coleman had 3RBI’s on the day while Wally Joyner and Joe Randa each had 2 hits on the day.

The Brewers outlasted the White Sox in a good game today to even their record on the season. Cal Eldred got his 5th win of the season despite having an average outing giving up 4ER in 6 innings. Ramon Garcia was solid in relief while Jesse Orosco got his 9th save of the season in a scoreless 9th. Darryl Hamilton lead the way with 3 hits a run, rbi, 2B and 2 stolen bases. Jeff Cirillo got 2 hits including a 2 run HR early. Dave Nilsson added 2 runs on 2 hits while Troy O’Leary got 3RBI’s on a triple. Jose Valentin hit a HR as well for the Crew. For the Sox Magglio Ordonez had 2 hits including a HR while Robin Ventura had 2 hits as well. Kirk McCaskill took the loss giving up 5ER in 4innings.

May 9th 1995: Jose DeLeon shutouts Brewers.
Jose DeLeon had the Brewers number only giving up 5 hits the entire game and never allowing more than 1 base runner in an inning. The only offense to speak of for the Brewers was Darryl Hamilton who had 2 hits and a SB from the lead off spot. Bobby Jones gave up 5ER in 6 2/3 innings while Scanlan pitched an inning and a third of scoreless relief. For the White Sox Ozzie Guillen added 3 hits and 2 runs on the day. Tim Raines added 2 hits and Mike Cameron had 2 RBI’s.

May 10th 1995: Brewers rule the day.
Angel Miranda picked up an easy win going 5 innings of 2run ball while Ramon Garcia pitched 4 scoreless innings and getting the 1st save for a Brewer other than Jesse Orosco in over a year. Jeff Cirillo lead the day with 3 hits and 3 runs. Dave Nilsson had 2 hits including a giant grand slam that broke the game open. Jose Valentin added a 2un run HR as well. For the White Sox Frank Thomas hit a 2 run HR while Julio Franco, Ozzie Guillen, and Magglio Ordonez each had 2 hits on the day. Alex Fernandez got the loss giving up 5ER in 3 1/3 inning.

May 11th 1995: Brewers continue hot may win against Central leading Indians at home.
Tom Brunansky came up big for the Crew today. The 35 year old hit a huge 2 run HR to put the Brewers ahead for good in what turned out to be a pitching duel. Indian Kenny Lofton was the only player in the game to have 2 hits. Chris Haney pitched 7 innings strong giving up just 3ER against the high powered offense while Al Reyes pitched a scoreless 8th and Jesse Orosco picked up his 10th save of the year. Dennis Martinez gave up 4 runs in the loss though only 2 of them were earned thanks inpart to a costly error by Omar Vizquel.

May 12th 1995: HR’s help power Brewers to another win.
The Brewers got the pop in the bat here in may. BJ Surhoff hit a big 3 run HR and Tom Brunansky added another 2 run HR his second in as many days. Jose Valentin added 2 runs on 2hits while Mike Matheny playing at 1st got 2 RBI’s on 2 hits. Cal Eldred pitched well giving up 3ER in 6 innings He got his 6th win of the year. Graeme Lloyd continued to struggle giving up another run in an inning. Jesse Orosco put his ERA to under 0.90 as he collected another save. All the Indians runs were scored off HR’s Brian Giles had 2 HR’s in the game while Andres Gallaraga cracked a HR later on.

May 13th 1995: Pitching feast on hitters. Brewers win in extra innings, sweep Indians!
April showers have brought may flowers, as the Brewers have quickly climbed near the top of the central. Thanks to a combination of hitting and like today great pitching. Bobby Jones started strong with 7 innings of 4 hit 1 run ball. Al Reyes pitched 2 scoreless innings and Bob Scanlan pitched a scoreless 10th which got him his 3rd win of the year already. Tom Brunansky got 3 hits on the day including the game winning RBI that scored Kevin Seitzer. Troy O’Leary added 3 hits as well for the Crew. Mike Matheny got a sac fly. Indians Jack Morris pitched 8 2/3 innings of 1 run ball to try and keep his Indians from getting swept. Andres Gallaraga and Kenny Lofton both got 2 hits.

May 14th 1995: Brewers jump out early, cruise to victory at the Metrodome.
Teddy Higuera continues to turn back the clock as he pitched 6 innings of 1ER ball, and the Bullpen held up to give the Brewers a rather easy win. The Brewers offense was lead by BJ Surhoff who had 2 hits including a 2 run HR. Dave Nilsson added 2 runs on 2 hits today. Tom Brunansky added a pair of RBI’s while Jose Valentin and Darryl Hamilton both stole some bases. For the Twins Pedro Munoz and C Damian Miller both had 3 hits while David Ortiz had 2.

May 15th 1995: Chris Haney gets rocked, Twins win.
Chris Haney had looked solid so far this year but today was just awful. Haney gave up 11 hits and 7ER on 3 1/3 innings. He was pelted all over the field. Ramon Garcia continued to pitch well going 3 2/3 innings of 1 run ball. The offense was ok today. Jeff Cirillo went 3 for 5 on the day. Tom Brunansky got 2 hits and 2 runs including his 5th HR of the season. C Dave Nilsson and Kevin Seitzer both had 2 hits. For the Twins, P Brad Radke pitched 8 strong innings giving up just 2ER. Pedro Munoz and Kevin Maas both went 3 for 5 and both had 2 run Home Runs.

BREAKING NEWS: IF PAT LISTACH INJURED
In a trend that started last season, the dinks and the dings have started to mount. Bill Wegman started the season on the DL, Brian Hunter went on the 15 day and now Pat Listach joins him. Pat pulled a rib muscle and will have to sit out to let it heal. Duane Singleton who had been sent down to the minors to work on his eye will be brought back up in his place.

May 16th 1996: Brewers come alive late make the Comeback against Twins.
The Brewers offense looked abysmal through 4 innings only having 1 hit. For the 5th inning on they scored at least 1 run each time up to comeback from a 5-2 deficit. BJ Surhoff helped jump start the comeback with 3 hits 2 runs and an RBI. SS Vinny Castilla was 2-4 on the day looking solid at the plate. Duane Singleton getting the start provided 2 SAC FLY RBI’s. Jamie McAndrew got roughed up for 5ER in 5 2/3 inning. Graeme Lloyd picked up the win going 2 1/3 scoreless innings. Jesse Orosco got his 12th save in 12 chances. For the Twins Kevin Maas and Scott Stahoviak both got solo HR’s while David Ortiz and Pat Mears both had 2 hits on the day.

May 18th 1996: Ace Eldred gets rocked again, lose badly.
Cal Eldred has had a rough start to the year. Cal Eldred gave up 6ER 10hits and 2BB in 5 1/3. Ramon Garcia didn’t fair any better giving up 3ER in 2 2/3 innings. The funny thing was that combined they struck out 11 A’s batters. Darryl Hamilton was the only Brewer of note as he scored 2 runs on a triple, walk, and stolen base. The Brewers were able to draw 6 walks on the day. For the A’s Gary Sheffield got 2 hits including a 3 run HR and scored 3 runs on the day. Mike Bordick added 3RBI’s on 2 hits while Ron Darling picked up the easy win.

May 19th 1996: Home Runs lead Brewers to victory in tight one.
Both pitching staffs were on today and the only difference was the long ball of the Brewers. Bobby Jones got the win going 6 innings giving up just 2ER. Doug Henry, Al Reyes, and Jesse Orosco all pitched scoreless innings with Orosco getting the save again. Tom Brunansky had the big 2 Run HR that put the Brewers ahead while Jose Valentin got 2 hits a double and a Solo HR. Darryl Hamilton had 2 hits and a walk from the leadoff spot. For the A’s Ricky Henderson got 2 hits including a rare leadoff HR in the 1st. Bobby Witt looked strong in the loss.

BREAKING NEWS: BREWERS CONTINUE TO FEEL INJURY BUG 2 BREWERS PUT ON DL.
The injury problems just wont go away. The day they get Brian Hunter back to the team they lose Jose Valentin. Jose hurt himself by Straining a muscle in his arm while at the plate yesterday. Now with him and Pat Listach on the 15 day DL they are forced to use Mark Loretta everyday. In his place Duane Singleton will continue to stay up on the roster. In addition pitcher Chris Haney pulled a leg muscle in his last start and will need a few weeks to recover.

May 20th 1996: 4 run 4th from the Crew help lead them to series win against Athletics.
The Brewers needed every run from the big 4 run 4th inning to win today against the tough Oakland team. Vinny Castilla and Troy O’Leary both had 2 hits on the day to lead the Crew but it was Tom Brunansky’s big 2RBI double in the 4th that started the big inning. Angel Miranda picked up the win his 5th of the season giving up 2ER in 6 innings. Al Reyes made the game close giving up a run in the 8th but solid Jesse Orosco once again was lights out in the 9th. Oakland hit the ball around as Damon Mashore, Jason Giambi, Terry Steinbach and Mike Bordick all had 2 hits on the day but they couldn’t string hits together.

May 21st 1995: Brewers win at County stadium with 7th inning comeback.
The Brewers kept it tight against the Yankees today despite Jimmy Key throwing a no hitter into the 6th inning. It wasn’t until the 7th that they got it rolling. The offense was lead by Mark Loretta getting 2 hits and 2 RBI’s. Jeff Cirillo got a hit and a RBI as well while Darryl Hamilton got a stolen base. Teddy Higuera gave up just 2ER in 6 innings. While Ramon Garcia went 2 hitless innings and Jesse Orosco closed the game out with his league leading 15th save. Jimmy Key pitched a CG game for the loss while Mike Stanley hit a HR and Don Mattingly got 2 hits as well.

May 22nd 1995: Brewers give up runs late, lose in extra innings to Yankees.
Jamie McAndrew looked like a stud today as he took a shutout till the 7th inning before finally giving up 1 run. Unfortunately young Al Reyes couldn’t get out of the 8th without giving up a run and finally Doug Henry lost the game in the 10th when he gave up a run. The Brewers offense was non existent except for Jeff Cirillo getting 3 hits on the day. For the Yankees Terry Mullholland pitched 9 innings of 2 run ball while Rod Beck picked up the save. Bernie Williams had 3 hits on the day including the game winning HR in the 10th.

BREAKING NEWS: JOHN JAHA TRADED TO OAKLAND!
The Brewers had seen enough. Jaha has potential, John Jaha has power, except Jaha can’t hit. Last year Jaha batted under .200 against righties, and so far this year he was bating under .200 against both. They traded Jaha to Oakland for a different first basemen. Troy Neel. Neel has some power and has shown to be a lot better contact hitter. Neel will see some more AB’s here than in Oakland baking up McGwire.

May 23rd 1995: Brunansky had huge day, help lead Crew past Yanks.
The Brewers are sure glad they called Brunansky back up to the pros. Brunansky had 3 extra base hits on the day. He had 2 doubles and a HR while driving in 2 runs and scoring 2 runs himself to help lead the team to victory. Dave Nilsson also had 3 hits on the day including 2 doubles which was just enough offense to win. Cal Eldred pitched fairly well giving up 3ER in 6 innings while striking out 5. The Bullpen was perfect in 3 innings including Doug Henry who got the win and Jesse Orosco who got the save and put his ERA under 0.5 on the year. Mike Stanley had a 2 RBI single for the Yankees the lone highlight for them.

May 24th 1995: Entire Brewers get a hit and 4 go out of the park in route of Yanks.
The Brewers looked liked the playoff team they were in 94 today. The pitching was solid and the hitting was out of this world, as they took a deuce all over the Yankee’s pitching staff today. Vinny Castilla had 2 hits and 5RBI’s including a huge Grand Slam to lead the Brewers. Brian Hunter and Dave Nilsson each had 2 hits including HR’s. And in a welcome to Milwaukee game Newest Brewer added a HR as well. RF Tom Brunansky added 3 hits (for the 2nd day in a row) 2 runs and an RBI on the day as well. Pitcher Bobby Jones looked great in the win going 8 innings giving up just 2ER and striking out 5. Former Brewer Greg Vaughn hit a solo HR for the Yanks while Mike Stanley added a pair of hits. The Brewers are happy to take 3 out of 4 against the Yanks.

May 25th 1995: Brewers lose heartbreaker in 12 innings thanks to rare Orosco blown save.
The Brewers jumped out early scoring 4 runs in the first inning. In 11 more inning they only managed 2 runs and a handful of hits as the bats went silent. Angel Miranda looked great until the 6th where he ran into trouble giving up 3 runs in total he gave up 4ER. The Brewers had a 1 run lead in the bottom of the 10th but Jesse Orosco picked the worst time to give up his first blown save. And a couple innings later Al Reyes lost the game thanks to a 1 out Sac Fly. Troy Neel got 2 hits on the day including a big 2 run HR. BJ Surhoff and Brian Hunter were the only other Brewers who had 2 hits on the day as well. Shawn Green lead the Jays with 3 hits and 4 RBI’s. Roberto Alomar and Mike Sharperson had 3 hits a piece as well for the Jays.

May 26th 1995: Erubiel Durazo kills the Brewers by himself.
DH Erubiel Durazo single handedly killed the Brewers today in the Skydome. Durazo got 3 hits 2 runs and 2 big Home Runs. For the Crew they had their ups and downs. Ramon Garcia made a spot start giving up 4ER in 4 innings before getting pulled. Mike Ignasiak gave up 2ER before getting an out but then finished strong going 4 scoreless innings after that. Tom Brunansky led the offense getting 2 hits including his 8th HR of the year. Kevin Seitzer and Mark Loretta both had 2 hits and an RBI on the day. For the Jays Carlos Delgado hit a HR while Paul Molitor, Roberto Alomar, and Mike Sharperson had 2 hits a piece. Chris Carpenter picked up the win, Billy Koch got the save.

May 27th 1995: As injuries mount Brewers end up getting swept by lowly Blue Jays.
Woody Williams pitched lights out for the Blue Jays today going 8 scoreless innings before giving up a couple of run in the 9th, by then it was too late. Paul Wagner forced to make another spot start due to injuries in the staff gave up 5ER in 4 1/3 innings. Mark Kiefer got his first action in the majors since 1993 and did ok giving up an ER in 2 2/3 innings. Tom Brunansky was the only Brewer with 2 hits on the day while Dave Nilsson got the only RBI. Shannon Stewart, John Olerud, and Dick Schofield all hit HR’s for the jays while Roberto Alomar and Carlos Delgado both got 2 hits.

May 28th 1995: Brewers get bats going, end losing streak against Royals.
Brian Hunter turned out to be a great pick up this season and showed it today getting 3 hits 3 runs 2RBI’s and a HR. CF Darryl Hamilton had 2 hits including an inside the park home run. Recent pick up Troy Neel got 2 hits and 2RBI’s on the day as well as the offense seemed to cook at times. Cal Eldred started off slow but ending up giving up just 2ER in 6 innings while picking up his 7th win of the year. Graeme Lloyd pitched 2 innings giving up just an unearned run. For the Royals Kevin Appier took the loss while RF Mark Carreon and SS Greg Gagne each had 2 hits on the day.

May 29th 1995: Crew score 10 RUNS IN 1 INNING!!!! All kinds of records broken.
The Brewers offense did something no team in baseball history had done before. Every single Brewer in the 1-9 line up got at least 2 hits on the day. The Brewers also set a Franchise record for 10 runs in 1 inning and tied a record in scoring 17 runs. Dave Nilsson and Brian Hunter both had 4 hits, 3 runs, and a HR on the day. Brian added 5RBI’s while Nilsson added 3. Troy O’Leary had 3 hits including a HR and 2 RBI’s. Everyone’s stat line looked great in this one. Bobby Jones got the EASY win giving up 3ER in 7 2/3 innings while Mark Keifer cruised along to end the game. For the Royals Wally Joyner had 3 hits while Tom Goodwin and Johnny Damon both had HR’s. Royal pitcher Dave Swartzbaugh set records of his own giving up 10 hits and 9 runs in 1 inning of work.

May 30th 1995: Brewers fall in a close good game against KC.
The Brewers and Royals went at each other all day between good pitching, clutch hitting, and great defensive plays. In the end it was Mark Gubizca’s solid 8 innings of pitching and Tom Gordon’s arm in the 9th that won it for the Royals. Tom Brunansky continues turn back the clock night getting 2 hits, 2 runs, and a HR. Mark Loretta got 2 hits as well. Angel Miranda took the loss despite only giving up 2ER in 6 innings. Bob Scanlan and Doug Henry both gave up a run in relief. For the Royals Mike Sweeney got 2 hits including a HR while Wally Joyner added a HR as well.

BREAKING NEWS: ACE CAL ELDRED INJURED OUT FOR A MONTH.
In heartbreaking news the injuries just continue to pile up. It now seems that another key Brewer will be on the shelf for a while. Cal Eldred injured a ligament in his knee and will be out for up to a month. This hurts the already thin starting staff as three of their planned starters are on the DL in Chris Haney, Bill Wegman, and now Cal Eldred. It will be interesting who goes now in his place Paul Wagner has looked horrendous as a Brewer while Ramon looked bad in his first start last week.

May 31st 1995: Brewers end month on a real sour note.
May was a good month for the Crew but injuries seemed to have caught up with them in the last week or so. Today Teddy Higuera had his worst outing in his career. Teddy gave up 9ER and 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings of work. The only positive was the bullpen pitched to just 1 hit in 2 2/3 inning. Troy Neel provided the only runs when he hit a 2 run HR in the first. Mike Matheny and Jeff Cirillo both had 2 hits on the day. The 1 thru 4 hitters all had 2 hits on the day for the Angels while Damion Easley, Chad Curtis, and Tim Salmon all hit HR’s.

June 1st 1995: Brewers pitching looks horrid in big loss to Angels.
Jamie McAndrew had a rough day only going 5 innings and giving up 5ER. That was bad enough but then Graeme Lloyd proceeded to give up 4 more runs in 1 inning at which point the game was over. Jeff Cirillo had a good day getting 3 hits and 2 runs as well as hitting a HR. Vinny Castilla also added a 2 run HR on the day while Darryl Hamilton got his 20th SB of the year. Royce Clayton was great in the leadoff spot for the Angels going 3 for 3 with 2 walks 2 stolen bases and 3 runs. Damion Easley from the 2 spot added 2HR’s and 5RBI’s on the day. Mark Langston picked up his 8th win of the season for California.

June 2nd 1995: Brewers just have enough in them to win.
Ramon Garcia got his 2nd start of the season and looked like a potential man in the rotation. Garcia went six strong innings giving up just 1ER while Striking out 6. Al Reyes let the Angels back into the game giving up 2ER in 2 innings but Orosco got the save in a scoreless 9th. Dave Nilsson got 3 hits on the day including a triple and an RBI with a run scored. Darryl Hamilton had 2 hits from the leadoff spot while Tom Brunansky blasted his 10th HR of the year. Chad Curtis, Darrin Fletcher both had 2 hits on the day while Garrett Anderson added 2 RBI’s.

The Brewers were awful from the plate, they were awful from the mound. They were probably doing bad at taking showers after the game. The Brewers offense consisted of 2 hits from BJ Surhoff and hit, stolen base, and RBI from Darryl Hamilton. The Brewers pitching staff looked a lot better today. Angel Miranda got the win today going 6 innings giving up 2ER and striking out 6 as well. The Bullpen didn’t give up a run and Jesse Orosco got his 18th save of the season. DH Brian Hunter had 2 hits including a huge go ahead HR. Dave Nilsson also added a 2 run monster shot his 10th of the year. BJ Surhoff got 2 hits on the day as well. For the twins what is normally the case Brad Radke pitched well but not well enough in the loss. Twins 2B Chip Hale had 3 hits while Scott Stahoviak added 2 hits on the day.

The Brewers bats were alive all over the line up. Dave Nilsson got 3 hits including a HR for the second day in a row and 3 RBI’s to lead the way. Darryl Hamilton, Kevin Seitzer, and Jeff Cirillo all got 2 hits for the Crew. BJ Surhoff hit a big 3 run Home Run while Tom Brunansky added a 2 run shot his 11th of the Season. Teddy Higuera got the win despite giving up 6ER in 6 innings. Jesse Orosco got the save as usual. For the Twins David Ortiz and Damian Miller both had 2 hits and a HR each, Miller’s was a 3 run shot. Just as they get Jose Valentin back they loose their All Star Catcher. In what has been a theme for the Brewers in the last 2 seasons is injuries. Dave will be out 2 weeks with a Broken finger. It will be interesting to see just how long the Brewers can hold on with all these injuries. Maybe they should invest some more in medical expenses!!!!!

June 6th 1995: Welcome back Jose Valentin, gets 2HR’s helps sweeps Twins.
The Brewers were glad to get Jose Valentin back even more so with the injury to Dave Nilsson. Jose got 2 big solo HR’s the proved to be the difference in todays game. Brian Hunter also added his 7th HR of the season today. SS Vinny Castilla got 2 hits and 2 RBI’s as well. Ramon Garcia had some trouble giving up 4R in 4 1/3 innings today in his 3rd start in the rotation. Doug Henry and Graeme Lloyd pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings while Jesse Orosco got his 20th save of the season. For the Twins Eric Anthony and Kevin Maas each had HR’s while David Ortiz had 2 hits on the day. Kevin Tapani took the loss.

The Indians can bat and bat they did. Bobby Jones gave up 6ER in 5 innings. Mark Keifer gave up 4ER in 1 2/3 innings. Al Reyes gave up 2 runs in 2/3 innings. It was bad all around as the offense wasn’t much better. Troy Neel was the only Brewer with 2 hits on the day. Vinny Castilla got a hit and walked twice, while Pat Listach, and Mark Loretta got pinch hits. For Cleveland Jim Thome had a 4 hits day with a HR and 3 RBI’s. The Brewers have had a hard time this series getting a hit. It wasn’t until 1 out in the 7th before the Brewers even got a hit. By then the game was over. Angel Miranda looked great for 5 innings but couldn’t get an out in the sixth giving up 3 runs in a row. CF Darryl Hamilton drew 3 walks and got a sac fly RBI on the day. Once again most the hits came from pinch hitters as Kevin Seitzer and Mike Matheny both got pinch hits. For the Indians Albert Belle and Andres Gallaraga each got 2 hits while Sandy Alomar got a 2 run HR. Rafael Bettencourt got the save.

June 10th 1995: Brewers make late inning comeback avoid sweep.
In a must win, the Brewers did just that. With just enough hitting and solid pitching late The Brewers fought their way back to victory. For the Brewers Darryl Hamilton, Jeff Cirillo, Jose Valentin, and BJ Surhoff all had 2 hits on the day. Valentin also had a HR, but no hit was bigger than Kevin Seitzers pinch hit game winning RBI in the top of the 9th. Chris Haney returned to the mound today and looked great getting 7K’s in 7 innings while only giving up 3ER. Al Reyes picked up the win while Doug Henry got his 1st save of his career thanks to Orosco having injured his finger and being out for a few days. For the Indians Andres Gallaraga had 3 hits and a 2 run HR for the series he went 8 for 12 with 3HR’s and 9RBI’s.

June 11th 1995: Walk off Home Run from Troy O’Leary, Brewers win in 10.
The Brewers relied on the bat of one man today while trying to keep up with the Tigers. Jeff Cirillo went 4 for 4 from the plate with a walk, a double, a run and an RBI. But it was the pinch hit of Troy O’Leary that won the game. With the game tied and 1 out in the bottom of the 10th Jeff Cirillo singled and then youngster Troy O’Leary came to the plate and delivered a monster 444Ft HR to win it, It was Troy’s 5th HR of the year. Jamie McAndrew pitched six strong innings of 3 run ball in the ND. Graeme Lloyd pitched a solid 7th but Ramon Garcia got the win with 3 scoreless innings in relief. For the Tigers Felix Jose, Mickey Tettleton, and Scott Livingston all had 2 hits on the day, while David Wells pitched a strong 6 2/3 innings of 3 run ball in a ND as well.

June 12th 1995: Brewers make big comeback win again in extra innings.
The Brewers were down by 2 in the 9th but cameback with 2 outs to tie it up, then with some lights out pitching finally got a chance to win and were helped by a walk off double from Pat Listach to score Jose Valentin to get the win. Jose had a great day from the plate collecting 3 hits including a big 3 run HR to start a comeback. Darryl Hamilton had 3 hits, 3 runs, and a 2 run HR in the 9th to tie it up and send it to extra innings. Troy Neel and Jeff Cirillo both had 2 hits on the day. Bobby Jones pitched 6 innings giving up 4ER in the no decision, Paul Wagner continued to struggle giving up 3ER in 1 2/3 innings. Al Reyes pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings while Bob Scanlan picked up his 4th win of the year by pitching 2 hitless innings late. For the Tigers Bobby Higginson had 2 hits including a HR while Mickey Tettleton had 2 hits as well.

BREAKING NEWS: ANGEL MIRANDA OUT FOR YEAR!!!!
It turns out that after the last outing Angel Miranda injured his leg seriously with a Torn knee ligament. Angel Miranda will be out for nearly a year with this injury. Because of this the Brewers are definitely looking for Bill Wegman and Cal Eldred’s return in a few weeks, and they might need to trade for depth in the pitching staff.

SIDE NOTE: COME ON! THESE INJURIES ARE GETTING REDICULOUS.
Dave Nilsson, Jose Valentin, Cal Eldred, Bill Wegman, Angel Miranda, Chris Haney all have been or are out for a considerable amount of time. If these guys were healthy we would definitely be near the league lead.

June 13th 1995: Teddy Higuera pitches game of life, 1 hit, 1 walk CG Shutout of Tigers.
The Brewers finished off the sweep of the struggling Tigers today with Teddy Higuera looking like the greatest player of all time. Teddy pitched a CG shutout that only led to 2 base runners the hole game while striking out 6. The Offense didn’t score a lot of runs but got their hits and enough runs to win. 3B Jeff Cirillo and RF Tom Brunansky each got 3 hits on the day. Jose Valentin added 2 hits and 2RBI’s while Troy Neel added 2 hits as well. For the Tigers Travis Fryman got the only hit.

The Brewers went into the 9th against the White Sox down 6 to 2 before getting into gear. Unfortunately it wasn’t quite enough as they fell 6-5. Vinny Castilla lead the comeback getting 2 hits on the day including a big HR his team leading 13th HR of the year as well as 2R and 2RBI’s. 5 other Brewers got a hit but failed to do any damage. Darryl Hamilton struck out 3 times on the day. Chris Haney had a rough outing giving up 5ER in 6 innings while Paul Wagner gave up 1ER in 2 innings of relief. For the Sox Mike Cameron and Julio Franco both got 2 hits including a HR a piece. Pitcher Scott Sanderson picked up his 9th win of the year.

The Brewers looked like a minor league team today. The White Sox pitchers pitched a combined 5 hit shut out while the hitting was even better. The 1 thru 5 hitters of the Sox all had 2 hits on the day while the 6 thru 9 hitters each got a hit as well. For the Brewers only the 1-2 hitters did anything Jeff Cirillo and Darryl Hamilton each had 2 hits on the day while Kevin Seitzer got the only other Brewer hit. Jamie McAndrew got shelled giving up 6 ER in 4 2/3 innings. The Bullpen did well giving up 1 ER in 3 1/3 innings.

The Brewers bats were silent again today as McDowell pitched a CG shutout of the Brewers. McDowell tied his career high with 12K’s. He only gave up 5 hits and 2 walks. Troy O’Leary did the best for the Crew getting a hit and a walk on the day. Ramon Garcia got 4ER in 3 2/3 innings making the start for the now injured Angel Miranda. Paul Wagner pitched well giving up just 1ER in 3 1/3 innings of Relief. Robin Ventura lead the sox with 3 hits and 3RBI’s on the day. Tim Raines and Magglio Ordonez each had 2 hits on the day.

The Brewers looked like it might go a Franchise tying 3 straight games without getting a run but finally in the seventh after a lead off double by Jose Valentin and a sac bunt by Pat Listach, Darryl Hamilton hit a sac fly to the outfield scoring the only run of the game. Bobby Jones played a CG shutout giving up just 4 hits and a walk. Jose Valentin had 3 hits on the day including a 2B and a 3B. Kevin Seitzer got 2 hits on the day as well. Tony Mounce pitched great but took the loss giving up the lone run of the game in 7 innings.

The Brewers bats which had been awful for the past week broke out in a big way today as The Brewers won against the lowly Royals. Tom Brunansky had 2 hits on the day including a triple to lead the way. 1B Troy Neel had 2 hits as well on the day. Jose Valentin had 2 runs on the day including a solo Home Run while Brian Hunter added a 2 run HR as well. Darryl Hamilton drew 2 walks and got a run as well on the day. Teddy Higuera got the win despite giving up 4ER in 6 innings. Doug Henry went 2 scoreless innings in relief while Jesse Orosco got his 21st save. For Kansas City Joe Randa got 3 hits while Mike Sweeney, Shane Halter, and Tom Goodwin each added 2 hits as well. Jeff D’Amico got shelled for all 7ER in 5 2/3 innings in the loss.

The Brewers were down 6 to 4 going into the bottom of the 8th when Milwaukee made yet another comeback on the season getting 3 runs and getting the eventual win. The Brewers bats had pop all day. Troy Neel delivered 3 hits today in another stellar pefromance. Jose Valentin got 2 hits including a big solo shot his team leading 14th HR of the year. C BJ Surhoff added 2 hits with 2 big RBI’s on the day. The Biggest hits though came from Jeff Cirillo and Troy O’Leary’s HR’s each hitting their 6th HR of the season. Chris Haney went 6 innings giving up 5ER in the No Decision. Call Up Mike Ignasiak got the win pitching 2 innings giving up 1ER while Jesse Orosco got the save. For the Royals Joe Randa, Mike Sweeney, Luis Sojo, and Shane Halter all got 2 hits on the day.

June 22nd 1995: Jack McDowell does something NO ONE not even Cy Young himself has done before.
Jack McDowell got his own piece of history today. Jack McDowell is the first pitcher ever to throw 2 straight 2shutouts against the same team not once but twice in his career. About 1 year ago from today Jack McDowell had done something only a pitcher or two have done before and that is pitch 2 straight shutouts in 2 straight starts against the same team, well against the very same team he has done it again. Getting his 2nd shutout in less than a week. Jack McDowell has truly been a Brewer killer. Jeff Cirillo was the only Brewer to get 2 hits on the day. Bill Wegman would have been the story of the game as he started for the first time in over 14months. Wegman struggled early and finished with 5ER in 5 innings with a K. Paul Wagner looked good giving up 1ER in 4 innings. For the Sox Tim Raines, Frank Thomas, Robin Ventura, Geronimo Pena, and Ozzie Guillen all had 2 hits on the day.

The Brewers were down 5-2 going into the bottom of the 8th when Milwaukee caught fire and scored 4 runs to take the lead before Orosco came in and got his 24th Save on the season. Cal Eldred made his return after an injury and did fairly well giving up 3ER in 6 innings in the No Decision. Bob Scanlan got his 5th win out of the Bullpen despite giving up 2ER in just 2 innings. Mark Loretta went 3 for 4 with 2RBI’s and a 2B. C Dave Nilsson who also was returning from got 2 hits, 2 runs, and 2RBI’s on the day. Jose Valentin and Troy O’Leary both had 2 hits on the day as well. For the Sox Magglio Ordonez and Dan Pasqua both hit HR’s while Rich Wilkins got a pair of hits.

BREAKING NEWS: BILL WEGMAN GETS INJURED AS OFTEN AS WILT CHAMBERLIN GETS LAID!!!!
Well maybe Bill’s career just needs to be shutdown. A few years ago Bill Wegman was a potential ace to the staff over the last 2 years he has been put on the DL for an extended period of time 3 times now as he Broke his leg in a freak accident stumbling down the stairs. Wegman might be out the rest of the year. The Brewers signed Wegman at the start of the last year to a 3 year deal and since signing that deal he pitched in 3 spring training games and 1 regular season game. Way to go Bill you bum.

BREAKING NEWS: BREWERS GIVE EXTENSION DEALS TO MULTIPLE PLAYERS!
The Brewers resigned some key talent to extension deals today. Former AL ROY IF Pat Listach signed a 3 year 630,000 dollar deal to stay in Milwaukee (210k/yr). RP Bob Scanlan signed a 4 year 1.68 million dollar deal (420k/yr) Bob is expected to get a chance to close if Jesse Orosco asks for a sizeable raise next year. And the biggest resigning of all was that of IF power hitter Vinny Castilla who signed a 4 year 6.4 million dollar deal (1.6mil/yr). These signings might help pave the way for a team to contend for the playoffs for the next few years.

June 26th 1995: Brewers bats lead the way against AL West leading Mariners.
The Brewers bats got back to its potential today in a 9-5 win that was more lopsided than the final score. Darryl Hamilton got 4 hits and 2 runs from the lead off spot. Old man Tom Brunansky got 3 hits including a 3 run HR to run his season total up to 13. 3B Jeff Cirillo added 2 hits and 2 RBI’s on the day as well. Chris Haney picked up his 4th win of the year going 7 innings and giving up 3ER. Ramon Garcia gave up 2 runs in the 9th to make the game a little closer. For Seattle Ken Griffey added 2 home runs while Ichiro Suzuki had 3 hits on the game as well.

June 27th 1995: Brian Hunter goes wild help leads comeback against Seattle.
The Brewers were down 5 to 1 in the top of the 7th when the coach sent in Brian Hunter to pinch hit at DH. He took the first pitch and sent it 400 feet into the stands for a 3 run HR then down in the 9th with 1 out and 2 on board he cranked out a 415 foot bomb to center field for his 2nd 3 run HR to help the Brewers take the lead. 2 AB, 2HR, and 6RBI’s not a bad outing as he now has 10 bombs on the year. C Dave Nilsson added 3 hits while Mark Loretta and Troy Neel each added 2 hits as well. Darryl Hamilton scored 2 runs from the leadoff with a 2walks and a hit. Teddy Higuera had a rough outing again giving up 5ER in 5 2/3 innings. Paul Wagner got his first win of the season while Orosco got his 25th save of the season. For the Mariners Ichiro Suzuki had 3 hits again on the day while Raul Ibanez and Rich Amaral each had 2 hits as well.

Randy Johnson brought his A game and prevented the Brewer sweep today. Randy Johnson tied his career high striking out 14 Brewer batters in just 7 1/3 innings and giving up a lone run. Jeff Cirillo was the only Brewer on the day to get 2 hits while Jose Valentin and Darryl Hamilton each got a hit and a stolen base with Darryl Hamilton scoring the lone run off Jose Valentin’s hit. Bobby Jones pitched well until the 7th he ended up going 6 innings giving up 3ER, and taking the loss. Al Reyes gave up 2 runs in 2 innings. For Seattle Ichiro Suzuki got 2 hits 2 runs and even hit a rare 2 run HR from the lead off spot.

For the third straight start in a row Jack McDowell went up against the Brewers, this time the Brewers got to him and got to him early as McDowell only lasted 4 innings giving up 5ER. Jeff Cirillo was a perfect 4-4 from the plate with a run 2RBI’s a 2B and a 3B. Vinny Castilla added 3 hits and a pair of RBI’s. While RF Tom Brunansky added 2 runs on 2 hits as well. Cal Eldred looked great today giving up just 1ER and going six innings strong. The Bullpen was perfect for 3 innings of relief. For the Sox Jose Hernandez was the only one to get 2 hits and got the lone RBI which scored Frank Thomas.

The Brewers put together a second strong month in a row and are now neck and neck with the Sox in the race for the Wild Card. Mark Loretta had a huge day from the 8 spot 2 hits scoring 3 runs and hitting his 1st HR of the year. C Dave Nilsson added his 12th HR of the year a big 3 run HR. Jeff Cirillo continues to tear it up getting 2 hits on the day as well. Chris Haney picked up the win giving up 3ER in 6 innings while Paul Wagner pitched the last 2 innings giving up 1 run. For the Sox the starting pitching had troubles again as Alex Fernandez gave up 6ER in 4 1/3 innings. Tim Raines had 4 hits and 3 RBI’s from the lead off spot. Frank Thomas had a HR and 3 hits on the day while Robin Ventura had a HR as well on a 2 hit day.

July 1st, 1995: Brewers win in dramatic fashion to finish off sweep of White Sox.
The Brewers fought hard all day scoring runs when they needed to and turning on the pitching late. It paid off with 2 outs in the 10th inning when Matt Mieske hit a line drive single to score Kevin Seitzer. The win pulled the Brewers into the early wild card lead. Jeff Cirillo was the big bat of the day getting 2 hits including a 2 run HR his 7th of the year. Dave Nilsson also added 2 hits including a HR. Jamie McAndrew pitched 5 innings giving up 4ER in the ND. Al Reyes came back in and got 5 strikeouts in just 2ER. Doug Henry got the win giving up just 2 singles in 3 innings of work. For the Sox Tim Raines, Dan Pasqua, and Rich Wilkins each got 2 hits. Roberto Hernandez took the loss on the day.

July 2nd 1995: Brewers pitching combines for shutout.
The Brewers pitching staff was lights out tonight and with that the Brewers matched their season high win streak of 4 games. Teddy Higuera pitched 7 innings of shutout work striking out 5. Bob Scanlan pitched a solid 8th and Orosco came in and again was perfect in the 9th for yet another save. SS Vinny Castilla and C Dave Nilsson both had 2 hits and a run on the day. Mark Loretta continues to spray the field with 2 hits while Troy Neel hit a 2 RBI double. For the Twins David Ortiz had 1 hit and 2BB while Kevin Tapani pitched a CG in the loss giving up just 2ER.

July 3rd 1995: Bobby Jones pitches CG shutout, Matt Mieske goes off.
The Brewers only scored in one inning but they scored big. Brewers bats scored 5 runs in the 2nd and with Bobby Jones on top of his game it was over. Bobby Jones pitched a CG shutout and struck out 9 on the day for his 9th win of the year. Matt Mieske in a spot start in the outfield went 4 for 4 with a run showing the potential that the Brewers felt he has had all along. Vinny Castilla added 3 hits including a 2B and his team leading 15th HR of the year. DH Jeff Cirillo added 2 hits a walk and run as well in the win. David Ortiz was the only Twin with 2 hits. The Twins bullpen pitched 5 scoreless innings. In the 2 games so far this season the Twins have only managed 9 hits. The Brewers pitching have gone 23 straight scoreless innings, and could set a franchise record next game.

July 4th 1995: Brewers win wild one on Independence day second series sweep in a row.
The Brewers and Twins went back and forth swapping the lead 7 times during the game as pitching was totally optional today in a 10-9 victory for the Brewers. Dave Nilsson went insane today going 5 for 5 with a HR, 3 doubles, and 6 RBI’s in likely the best performance from a Brewer batter so far in the 90’s. Jeff Cirillo got on base 5 times with 3 hits and 2 talks and tied a franchise record scoring 4 runs in the game. Darryl Hamilton added 3 hits including a triple while Mark Loretta added 2 hits. Brian Hunter and Troy Neel both added HR’s during the game. Cal Eldred gave up 5 runs 4earned in 5 innings in the ND while the bullpen struggled until Jesse Orosco came in and got his 27th save on the season. For the Twins Pedro Munoz got 3 hits including a HR and 5RBI’s on the day. C Derek Parks added 3 hits and 2 runs. Willie McGee and Brian Raabe both had 2 hits.

July 5th 1995: Brewers bats still hot even in Yankee stadium.
The Brewers headed into Yankee stadium for their final series before the all star break against the AL’s best team. Today they made them look like chumps. Dave Nilsson had another unbelievable game today getting 3 hits including 2HR’s and 6RBI’s again today. It’s the first time in franchise history that a Brewer has had back to back 6RBI days. Dave now has the team lead in HR’s at 16. Brian Hunter had 3 hits as well including a HR and 3RBI’s on the day. Jeff Cirillo added 2 hits while Pat Listach got 2 stolen bases on the day as well. Chris Haney got the win pitching well against a stacked lineup going 6 innings and giving up just 2ER. The Bullpen was a bit shakey but it didn’t matter. For the Yankees Derek Jeter was hot in the leadoff getting 4 hits and 2 runs. Bernie Williams and Lenny Harris each had 2 hits as well.

July 6th 1995: Milwaukee falls apart late as they squander a great opportunity.
The Brewers had a chance to win their 7th game in a row but a tiring arm of Jamie McAndrew and Doug Henry blowing up cost the Brewers that chance. Going into the bottom of the 7th inning the Brewers were up 3-0 when Jamie McAndrew gave up 3 runs to let the game tie up. Doug Henry proceeded to come in and give up 4ER in 1/3 inning of work for the loss. Tom Brunansky got 3 hits including a 2B with an RBI on the day. Both Jeff Cirillo and Dave Nilsson had 2 hits a walk and a run on the day in the loss. Jim Abbott pitched strong going 7 innings giving up 3ER in the ND. Paul O’Neill was the Brewer killer today getting 3 hits and 3 RBI’s. Danny Tartabull and Greg Vaughn each had 2 runs on the day as well.

July 7th 1995: Brewers bullpen doesn’t look good again in loss.
Teddy Higuera pitched as well as almost anyone would against the Yanks giving up 3ER in 6 innings in taking the loss. Higuera didn’t get any help from the bullpen as Graeme Lloyd continued to have a terrible year giving up 2 Home Runs in 2/3 inning of work. Ramon Garcia gave up an ER as well. For the Brewers Brian Hunter and Kevin Seitzer both had 2 hits on the day. Derek Jeter had a hot day getting 3 hits 2 runs and a HR on the day. Wade Boggs, Danny Tartabull, Paul O’Neill, and Lenny Harris all had 2 hits for the Yankees. Andy Pettite picked up his 13th win of the season going 7 2/3 innings strong.

BREAKING NEWS: BREWERS RESIGN TROY NEEL TO 3 YEAR DEAL.
The Brewers reached an agreement today with 1B to a 3 year deal worth 1.02 million (340k/yr). The Brewers have continued to resign as many players as they can to cheap deals with hopes that they all can all continue to play above and beyond expectations. That’s the 5th Brewer resigned this season.

July 8th 1995: Crew’s solid pitching helps split Series in the Bronx.
The Brewers had some great pitching and just enough hitting to help overcome the top of the AL in the Yankees. Bobby Jones picked up his 10th win for the Crew going 6 innings striking out 7 and giving up just 2ER. Bob Scanlan and Doug Henry pitched scoreless relief innings. Jesse Orosco gave up an ER in the 9th but held on for the save. Darryl Hamilton had 3 hits and a run from the lead off spot. Brian Hunter added 2 hits and a run while Dave Nilsson got 2 hits again as well. Tom Brunansky got a hit 2 walks 2 runs and a big HR his 14th of the year. For the Yankees Jorge Posada got 2 hits while Greg Vaughn hit a HR in the 9th off of Orosco.

July 13th 1995: Brewers shut out Royals win in a big way.
Cal Eldred pitched 8 shut out innings striking out 5 and giving up just 4 hits. He wanted to finish but was over 125 pitches so Al Reyes finished the combined shutout with a perfect 9th. Darryl Hamilton lead the way with 3 hits, 2 runs, a 2B, RBI, and a SB. Mark Loretta was a perfect 4 for 4 from the plate with 2 doubles 4 runs and an RBI. Jeff Cirillo added 2 hits including a 2B and 2RBI’s. Troy Neel and Troy O’Leary each had 2 RBI’s on the day as well. For the Royals only Tom Goodwin got on base more than once drawing 2 walks and a hit as well as a SB from the lead off spot.

July 14th 1995: Brewers pitching continues to dominate lowly KC.
Chris Haney came out on a mission pitching 7 strong innings and giving up 1ER on the day to get his 7th victory of the year. Doug Henry pitched a perfect 8th in the setup and Jesse Orosco got another save as he continues to look better than he ever has at age 38. C Dave Nilsson had a big game getting 3 hits a 2B and 2 RBI’s to lead the offense which struggled for most of the day. Darryl Hamilton was right behind him with 2 hits 2 runs a BB and RBI and 2 SB. For the Royals Hector Ortiz got 3 hits and Mike Carreon added 2 hits as well. The Bullpen pitched 4 scoreless innings for the Royals after a rough start from Mark Gubizcka.

July 15th 1995: Brewers finish off sweep of Royals on more solid pitching.
The Brewers pitching continued to be hot off the All Star break finishing a sweep in Kansas City. Jamie McAndrew got his 2nd win of the season going 7 innings strong giving up just 1ER on the day. Bob Scanlan allowed the Royals back in it with a run given up in the 9th but Jesse Orosco got the save again today his league leading 30th save of the season. Troy Neel and Troy O’Leary did the damage both getting HR’s on the day and scoring 3 of the runs thanks to that. Mark Loretta was the only Brewer with 2 hits on the day. Mark is batting almost .350 against right handed hitters. Wally Joyner lead the Royals with a 2B and a HR on the day. Mike Sweeney added 2 singles as well.

July 17th 1995: Bats struggle against Twins lose close one.
Kevin Tapani was lights out today against the Brewers giving up just 1 run in 8 innings of work, while Mike Jackson was perfect in the 9th for the save. The Brewers pitching stayed strong Bobby Jones struggled giving up 11 hits in 6 innings but somehow managed to only give up 3 runs. Ramon Garcia pitched 2 perfect innings in relief. Only 3 Brewers got hits on the day and they all had 2 hits a piece, Darryl Hamilton, Mark Loretta, and Dave Nilsson. For the Twins David Ortiz got his 23rd HR of the year while Alex Cole, Willie McGee and 3B Brian Raabe each had 2 hits on the day.

July 18th 1995: Eric Milton takes no hitter into the 8th inning gets 1 hit shutout.
The Brewers bats have slowed down since the All Star break and today they were just terrible as only Jose Valentin got a hit off of Twin Pitcher Eric Milton who pitched the CG shutout. Teddy Higuera went 6 2/3 innings and only gave up 2 HR’s unfortunately both were 3 Run shots one from David Ortiz and another from Doug Glanville only his 2nd of the year, 3 runs were unearned thanks to a costly 2 out error by Vinny Castilla. Graeme Lloyd was perfect in relief. Pedro Munoz was the only player in the game with 2 hits on the day.

July 19th 1995: Milwaukee gets swept by lowly Twins thanks to great pitching from Twins.
The Brewers finished their worst offense series of the year and are happy to leave the metrodome. Not a single Brewer had 2 hits in the game. Darryl Hamilton got a hit, a run, and a stolen base to I guess lead the Brewers. Jeff Cirillo got a hit and an RBI. Troy O’Leary got a run and Tom Brunansky got an RBI as well. Chris Haney gave up 4ER in 6 innings of work while Ramon Garcia gave up 1ER in 2 innings. Brad Radtke got the win striking out 10 in 8 innings. Mike Jackson finished off the game again. David Ortiz hit a HR for the 3rd straight day. Alex Cole added 3 hits while Pat Mears Scott Stahoviak, and Pedro Munoz all had 2 hits.

Jamie McAndrew came to the mound and pitched like a stallion going six innings and giving up 2 runs (1 earned) to pick up his 2nd straight win. Doug Henry and Bob Scanlan looked solid in relief while Jesse Orosco got his 31st save more amazing he has still only 1 BS on the year. C Dave Nilsson was the only Brewer with 2 hits including his 17th two bagger of the year. Troy Neel got a 2RBI 3B while Darryl Hamilton got a hit, walk, SB, and run from the leadoff spot. For the pathetic royals Wally Joyner had 2 hits while Joe Randa hit a 2 run HR. Royals bullpen held Brewers scoreless for 4 innings.

July 21st 1995: Brewers roll to victory on strong pitching and solid hitting.
Ramon Garcia has pitched all over this year, 9th inning, mop up, situational relief, and starting. Garcia continues to make a case to be an everyday man in the rotation this year or next. Garcia pitched 5 strong innings giving up just 1 run. Al Reyes and Paul Wagner each pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief. Jeff Cirillo lead the Brewers once again getting 3 hits, 3 runs, and a 2 run HR his 8th of the year. Troy Neel added 2 hits including a 2 run HR as well. Mark Loretta, Darryl Hamilton and Jose Valentin each chipped in with 2 hits on the day also. For the Royals Tom Goodwin continues to do his best against the Crew getting 2 hits, the lone run, and a stolen base. 2B David Howard added 2 hits as well.

BREAKING NEWS: TROY O’LEARY DISLOCATES SHOULDER OUT FOR A MONTH
Troy O’Leary has had his ups and downs this year as a starting outfielder this year. In yesterdays game during the late innings Troy O’Leary made a diving catch but landed wrong. It turned out that he dislocated his shoulder and will spend a month on the DL. With that Matt Mieske will get called back up and will probably get a few more starts under his belt.

July 22nd 1995: Brewers bats make a big comeback, save Eldred’s poor performance.
Cal Eldred was rocked for 6 runs in the first 3 innings before getting six straight outs to make it through 5 innings. Despite those six runs he picked up his 10th win on the season thanks to the Crew’s bats and solid relief. The Bullpen pitched three solid innings before Jesse Orosco gave up a rare ER in the 9th but did just enough to get the save and the win. Troy Neel led the way with 2 hits 2 runs 2RBI’s and a HR for the Crew. Tom Brunansky added his 15th HR of the season and 3RBI’s on the day as well. Mark Loretta, Troy Neel, Jose Valentin all had triples in the game. Dave Nilsson and Brian Hunter each had 2 hits in the win. Joe Randa had 3 hits a HR and 3RBI’s to lead the Royals. SS Jeff Branson also added 3 hits. Tom Goodwin, Mark Carreon, and C Jeff Grotewald each got 2 hits as well.

July 24th 1995: Brewers continue to have trouble against Twins, lose heartbreaker.
Eric Milton pitched 8 innings of 1 run ball while Striking out 8. They then sent in Mike Jackson who gave up 2 runs in the 9th to tie it up before Graeme Lloyd lost the game in the bottom of the 9th. The Brewers pitching tried Bobby Jones pitched 6 innings of 3ER ball but struck out 6 as well. Al Reyes pitched 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief as well and continues to have the most electric stuff in the bullpen. For the Crew Tom Brunansky and Vinny Castilla each had 2 hits and a run while Dave Nilsson got a hit 2 walks and an RBI. For the Twins 1B Dave Ortiz had 2 hits and 2 runs while Pat Mears had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s.

July 25th 1995: Brewers fall apart in the bottom of the 9th inning AGAIN!
The Brewers just don’t seem to have the right stuff against the Twins this year. It is now the 5th game in a row they lost against the Twins and are now in danger of quickly falling out of the wild card race. Chris Haney pitched ok giving up 3ER on 6 innings of work. Bob Scanlan and Doug Henry itched pitched a perfect inning in relief as the Brewers once again managed to tie it up in the top of the 9th only for Doug Henry to give up a WALK OFF HR to Pat Mears in the bottom of the 9th to blow it again. Brad Radke no hit the Brewers until the 6th when he gave up back to back HR shots from Tom Brunansky and Jose Valentin. Darryl Hamilton was the only Brewer to get 2 hits on the day. For the second day in a row Mike Jackson blew the save but picked up the win for the twins. Alex Cole hit a rare HR as well while Pedro Munoz got 2 hits in the Twins win.

July 26th 1995: Brewers bats finally get going, avoid sweep.
The Milwaukee Brewers jumped on the backs of the batters and rode them to victory today in a wild 9-5 win. IF Vinny Castilla had a huge day with TWO 2 RUN HR’s to take the team lead with 17HR’s on the year. Troy Neel added 3 hits including a HR 3RBI’s and 2 runs on the day as well. Mark Loretta got 4 hits on the day and scored 2 runs while Jeff Cirillo added 3 hits and 2 runs also. Teddy Higuera got the win pitching six strong innings of 3 run ball. Paul Wagner looked a bit rough giving up a few runs and letting Twins get back into the game before Ramon Garcia closed the door. For the Twins Scott Stahoviak had a HR while Pedro Munoz, Marty Cordova, and Chip Hale all had 2 hits.

July 27th 1995: Brewers bullpen implodes almost cost them a victory.
The Brewers jumped out to a 7-0 lead when Jamie McAndrew had a little trouble and let 2 batters in a row get on base. With that Al Reyes proceed to walk the bases full and then give up a grandslam. Jamie McAndrew did get the win pitching 6 2/3 innings of 2ER ball. Jesse Orosco gave up a run and loaded the bases before getting a long fly out to win the game 8-6. For the Brewers Tom Brunansky and BJ Surhoff both hit HR’s for the Crew. Troy Neel had a big day getting 4RBI’s on 2 hits. Dave Nilsson added 3 hits on the day while Darryl Hamilton added 2 hits 2 runs an RBI and SB on the game in the victory. For the White Sox Frank Thomas hit the Grand Slam his 24th of the year. Robin Ventura and Julio Franco each had 2 hits on the day.

BREAKING NEWS: BREWERS PULL OFF TWO BIG TRADES BEFORE DEADLINE
In an attempt to bolster the lineup for the playoff push the Brewers pulled the trigger on 2 big trades. First the Brewers traded one of their top pitching prospects Jose Mercedes to the San Diego Padres for the huger power bat of OF Phil Plantier. Phil Plantier is currently enjoying a monster season of 31HR and a batting average above .300. The 26 year old outfield will play everyday and add the huge monster power they have been missing. Then in another big move to free the money for Plantier they traded the struggling BJ Surhoff for two Prospects of their own. The Brewers received top 2B prospect Marlon Anderson and OF Jason Michaels from the Phillies and 500,000 in cash. Hopefully these will be the trades to put the Brewers over the top in the race to the playoffs.

July 28th 1995: Brewers pitching gets roughed up, Jack McDowell continues to pitch great against Crew.
Jack McDowell has always been a good pitcher but against the Brewers he is a hall of famer. Today was no exception. McDowell pitched 8 innings of 6 hit 6K 2 run ball in getting another win against the Crew. 3 of the six hits came from lead off man Darryl Hamilton who also got an RBI and a SB. Dave Nilsson had 2 hits including his 17th HR of the season. Phil Plantier went 0-3 with a K in his debut. Cal Eldred was pedestrian giving up 4ER in 5 innings. Ramon Garcia gave up 4runs (3earned) in 2 1/3 inning and by then it was over. Tim Raines, Frank Thomas, Mickey Tettleton all had HR’s on the day for the Sox while Mike Cameron and Rich Wilkins each got 2 hits in the win.

Vinny Castilla tweaked a hamstring yesterday in the blow out loss. While nothing serious he will be out for at least a week. Vinny was among the team leaders in HR’s and RBI’s and hopefully others will fill the void in his absence.

July 29th 1995: Dave Nilsson’s GRAND SLAM leads Brewers to victory.
Alex Fernandez had the Brewers number until the 8th inning when he lost control of his pitches and loaded the bases. 2X ALL STAR Dave Nilsson the best catcher in baseball delivered nailing a Grand Slam that broke a 2-2 game wide opened and helped The Brewers establish a solid lead in the wild card race heading into the dog days on August. Phil Plantier added his 1st HR as a Brewer today as well. Bobby Jones pitched well giving up just 2ER in 6 innings while Al Reyes picked up the win in relief. For the Sox Tim Raines was the only one with 2 hits including a HR. Mickey Tettleton added a hit and run as well.

July 30th 1995: Brewers lose yet another heartbreaker against the Twins.
The Twins continue to have the Brewers number this season. It seems like no matter what they try it just doesn’t work. Chris Haney pitched solid giving up 3ER in 6 1/3 inning of work. The Bullpen pitched well giving up just an ER in 2 2/3 innings. But the offense just wasn’t there. Brad Radke pitched well giving up 3ER in 8 innings of work for the Twins in the victory. Troy Neel had 3 hits on the day but the Brewers couldn’t bring him home. Phil Plantier hit a HR for the second day in a row while Tom Brunansky hit a 2 run HR his 18th of the year. For Minnesota Damian Miller and Pat Mears each had 2 hits while Doug Glanville blasted a HR.

July 31st 1995: Brewers squander bases loaded 1 out in the 9th lose AGAIN to the friggn Twins.
The Brewers can not buy a win against Twins In their last 10 meetings they are 2-8. The run production has been nearly none existent against this team. Phil Plantier was the only Brewer who bothered showing up at the plate getting 2 hits including a HR for the third day in the row. Plantier now has 35HR’s on the year. Jeff Cirillo managed to get a hit a run and a walk on the day as well. Ramon Garcia pitched meh in the taking the loss giving up 3ER in 4 2/3 innings. The Big story was Paul Wagner not giving up a hit and only 2 walks in 4 1/3 innings. Scott Erickson got the win going 7 1/3 innings strong. David Ortiz got on the bases four times due to 2 hits and 2 walks.

August 1st 1995: Brewers pitching finally leads them to victory over Twins.
Finally the Brewers a team obviously better on paper than the Twins were able to beat the Twins after six straight losses to them. Jamie McAndrew brought his A game going 7 2/3 innings of 1ER ball striking out 5 in the win while Jesse Orosco was perfect once again in the save mode. C Dave Nilsson led the way with 3 hits and a run scored for the Crew. Jose Valentin 2 hits including a 2B and a run while Troy Neel drew 2 walks on the day. Pedro Munoz reached base 3 times for the Twins with 2 hits and a walk. Kevin Tapani pitched strong in the loss going 7 1/3 innings giving up 3ER. David Ortiz got the only run off off Willie McGee’s RBI.

August 2nd 1995: Milwaukee blasts 5HR’s but real story is unlikely pitching.
The Brewers won easily blasting HR after HR but the real story is the combined 1 run 3 hit game that the strangest combination of Brewers pitchers did today. Mike Ignasiak, Graeme Lloyd, Mark Kiefer, and Al Reyes all worked together to record 8K’s against only 2 walks, 3 hits, and 1 run. Troy Neel had a huge game in the win getting 3 hits, 3 runs, 3 RBI’s and 2 HR’s. Dave Nilsson and Kevin Seitzer each had 3 hits and a HR as well while Jose Valentin added the teams 5th HR of the game. Tony Clark scored the only run for the Tigers hitting a solo HR. Bobby Higginson drew 2 walks during the game.

August 3rd 1995: Brewers pitching can’t hold up it’s end of the Donkey.
The Brewers scored the run but a terrible first inning from Cal Eldred and a big 2 run shot given up by Bob Scanlan ended their hopes. Cal Eldred gave up 5ER in 5 innings after the rough first. Bob Scanlan cruised thru the six but in the 7th gave up a 2run blast from Cecil Fielder to take the loss. Doug Henry closed the game out well for the Brewers but they couldn’t make the comeback. Tom Brunansky had 2 extra base hits today a double and a HR to lead the way. Jose Valentin added 2 hits 2 walks and 3 runs scored as he continues to get hot again. Mark Loretta also had 2 walks and 2 hits scoring a run and getting 2RBI’s on the day. For the Tigers Lou Whitaker added 3 hits of his own in addition to Fielders big day. Eric Davis and Bobby Higginson both had 2 runs in the game for Detroit.

August 4th 1995: Big 8th inning leads Crew to victory against Tigers.
The Brewers Bobby Jones looked great today in his team leading 11th win of the year. Jones struck out 10 while only giving up 2ER. Al Reyes pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief to keep the lead in tact. Troy Neel lead the offense getting 3 hits on the day including his 11th 2B and 11th HR of the season. Mark Loretta also had 3 hits including a 3B and 2 runs scored. Brian Hunter and Dave Nilsson each had 2 hits on the day. For the Tigers Tim Belcher pitched well giving up 2ER in 7 innings but the bullpen gave up 4ER in 2 innings of work. Eric Davis was the only Tiger who did anything getting 2 hits including his18th HR of the year. Deivi Cruz also hit a HR for the Tigers.

August 5th 1995: Brewers jump out huge early roll in Tiger Stadium.
Tigers pitching gave the Brewers this game issuing 8 walks and hit 2 batters as well in part causing an 11-4 win for the Crew. Jose Valentin had a huge day for the Brewers getting 3 hits including a Grand Slam to help the offense roll. Brian Hunter hit a 3 run shot as well it was his 13th HR of the season. Mark Loretta and Phil Plantier each scored 2 runs on the day. Chris Haney rolled to an easy win going 6 innings giving up 1 run. Paul Wagner picked up a 3 inning save giving up just 1ER. For the Tigers Cecil Fielder hit a HR and scored 3 runs on the game while Deivi Cruz got 3RBI’s on 3 hits. P Jeff Weaver got rolled giving up 7ER in 2 2/3 innings of work for the Tigers.

August 7th 1995: Brewers pitching looks bad in loss to O’s.
The pitching just couldn’t string together outs and gave up untimely hits which combined meant bad news. Jamie McAndrew gave up 4ER in 5 innings in a ND. Doug Henry took the loss giving up 3ER in 1 2/3 innings while Bob Scanlan gave up another run before it was over. Tom Brunansky had 2 hits and 2RBI’s on the loss. C Dave Nilsson had 2 hits including a rare 3B and an RBI. Jose Valentin and Troy Neel each had a hit and a run scored. For the O’s Brian McRae, Jack Voigt, and Rafael Palmiero all had HR’s. Cal Ripken had 2 hits on the day also. Mark Eichorn got the win.

August 8th 1995: Brewers get some big hits, get some revenge against O’s.
Cal Eldred started off rough giving up 3 runs in the 2nd but settled in and ended up getting 5 strikeouts in 6 innings while only allowing the 3ER’s. The Bullpen was perfect in 3 innings of relief. Phil Plantier hit a 3 run HR while Vinny Castilla hit a 2 run HR to blow the game wide open. Darryl Hamilton got 3 hits and 2 runs on the day while Mark Loretta got 2 hits and 2 RBI’s and Tom Brunansky got 2 hits as well. For the O’s Chris Sabo was the only batter with 2 hits. Mike Mussina took the loss giving up 4ER in 5 innings.

August 9th 1995: Pitching duel falls in favor of Brewers, win series.
The Brewers and Orioles engaged in one hell of a pitching duel that needed extra innings to decide it. Bobby Jones pitched 6 innings of 1ER ball in his ND. The Bullpen of the Brewers proved the difference going 4 shutout innings including Jesse Orosco’s 35th save of the year. The crazy thing of the day was that Brewers got 10 walks on the day yet not 1 of them scored during the game. The Brewers only managed 5 hits on the day 2 of which came from Dave Nilsson. Vinny Castilla hit the sac fly RBI that proved to be the game winner. Robby Thompson had a hit walk and run in the loss. Jim Poole took the loss.

August 10th 1995: Troy Neel powers Crew past Rangers in close one.
Troy Neel came over earlier this season and while he has hit well he didn’t show off his big time power until recently. Today Troy Neel blasted a 3RUN 462FT HR to center field as well as a Sac Fly that turned out to be the difference in the game. C Dave Nilsson had 3 hits and 2 runs on the day while Phil Plantier was the only other Brewer with more than 1 hit on the day. Chris Haney quietly picked up his 9th win of the season giving up 3 runs (2 earned) in 6 2/3 innings. Jesse Orosco picked up his 36th save. For the Rangers Ivan Rodriguez got 3 hits while unknown Mike Pagliauro got 2 hits including a 2 run shot. Bob Milacki took the loss.

August 11th 1995: Kevin Brown takes shutout into 9th, Rangers win easily.
Kevin Brown had the Brewers number today giving up just 1 run in the top of the 9th before being pulled. He gave up just 6 hits in those 8 1/3 innings. Troy Neel continues to get his power ramped up, he hit his 13th HR of the year a 2 run shot in the 9th and the only Brewer to get 2 hits on the day. Matt Mieske had a pinch hit 2B. Teddy Higuera had a rough outing giving up 5ER in 5 innings while Paul Wagner did even worse giving up 4ER in 3 2/3 innings. For the Rangers Jose Canseco and Juan Gonzalez each hit HR’s while Chris James and Ivan Rodriguez each had 3 hits on the day.

August 12th 1995: Brewers 3 HR’s help lead them to series win against Rangers.
The Brewers offense showed just enough life to win against the Rangers and move to 22 games above .500. Jose Valentin and Kevin Seitzer each hit 2 run HR’s in the victory while Troy Neel hit a HR for the 3rd straight game. Jeff Cirillo and Dave Nilsson each had 2 hits in the 1-2 hole today. Jamie McAndrew pitched well getting his 6th win of the year giving up 2ER in 6 innings. The Bullpen pitched well except for Doug Henry who gave up 2 HR’s in the 8th before being yanked. Jesse Orosco got the save. Kenny Rogers got ‘roasted’ for 5ER in 5 innings in the loss. Ivan Rodriguez had 3 hits for the 3rd straight game and went 9 for 11 on the series. Jose Canseco and Rusty Greer each hit HR’s for Texas.

August 13th 1995: Brewers bullpen fails late, bats don’t help at all.
The Milwaukee Brewers stayed step by step with the AL Central leading Indians but in the end a late run and a lack of hitting prevented the win. Cal Eldred tried his best and left the game at a 2-2 tie after 7 innings. Unfortunately Bob Scanlan continued to struggle and gave up the game winning run in the 9th as his ERA now has hit 4.00 on the year. Dave Nilsson was the only Brewer who had 2 hits, he also added a run. Troy Neel added a hit and an RBI on the day as well. For Cleveland Bartolo Colon pitched 8 strong innings for the win while Rafael Bettencourt got the save his 32nd on the year. Manny Ramirez, Albert Belle, and Andres Gallarraga all hit solo HR’s for the Indians.

August 14th 1995: Brewers pitching is horrid in route by Indians.
The Brewers pitching staff looked like an A ball team against the explosive Indian offense today. Bobby Jones gave up 6ER in 6 innings. Al Reyes got rocked for 3ER in 1 inning while Graeme Lloyd gave up 3runs (1earned) in 2 innings. The Brewers offense got lively but just couldn’t keep up. Kevin Seitzer led the way with 4 hits a run and an RBI. Darryl Hamilton and Dave Nilsson each added a pair of hits while Brian Hunter and Mark Loretta added a hit and 2RBI’s a piece. Albert Belle lead the Indians with 2 hits a HR and 3 RBI’s on the day. Brian Giles, Omar Vizquel, and Jesse Levis all had 2 hits in the win while Carlos Baerga and Tony Pena added HR’s.

The Brewers finished getting swept by the Indians today as they got routed for the 2nd day in a row. Chris Haney got worked for 7ER in 4 1/3 innings. Ramon Garcia gave up 2ER in 3 2/3 innings. The Brewers offense was pretty anemic as well. Vinny Castilla was the only Brewer with 2 hits including a solo HR. Dave Nilsson got a 2B 2 walks and an RBI on the day as well. For the Indians Jack Morris picked up the easy win. Andres Gallaraga got 3 hits including a HR, Carlos Baerga had 2 hits including a HR, Albert Belle had 3 hits and Brian Giles has 2 hits.

August 17th 1995: Brewers get a much needed win against Royals.
After being swept by the Indians the Brewers were licking their chops to get AL’s punching bad the Royals. Jamie McAndrew looked awesome in 6 2/3 innings of 1 run ball while the rest of the bullpen was perfect. Phil Plantier had a nice game 3 hits a walk and an RBI. Dave Nilsson got 2RBI’s on 2 hits while Darryl Hamilton and Tom Brunansky each got 2 hits. For the Royals Kevin Appier got rocked in the loss but the Royals got their hits 3 each from Tom Goodwin and David Howard. Plus 2 more from Johnny Damon.

August 18th 1995: Brewers power gets them an easy victory against the Royals.
The Brewers clobbered their way to victory getting 3 big HR’s. Vinny Castilla got 2 hits including his 20th HR of the year. Jose Valentin added his 19th HR and 18th 2B of the season. Troy Neel blasted his 15th HR of the season as well in the victory while Darryl Hamilton added a hit, run, rbi, and SB to his season totals. Cal Eldred picked up his team leading 12th win of the season giving up 3ER in 7 innings of work while Ramon Garcia closed the game out. For the Royals Kevin Koslofski and Luis Sojo each added 2 hits on the day. While Jeff Branson and Sojo each added a HR in the loss.

August 19th 1995: Everybody gets a hit Brewers finish Sweep of Royals.
The Brewers bats were on with everyone in the lineup getting a hit. Vinny Castilla was the big bat on the day getting 2HR’s 3runs and 4RBI’s on the day. Darryl Hamilton and Tom Brunansky each added two hits in the victory while the rest pitched in with at least a hit. Bobby Jones kept pace with Cal Eldred getting his 12th win of the season on 7 innings of 1 run ball. Graeme Lloyd and Bob Scanlan continued to struggle in relief and let the Royals get back into it before Jesse Orosco came in to get the save. For the Royals Joe Randa had a 3 run HR while Tom Goodwin and David Howard each got 2 hits in the game.

August 21st 1995: Offense anemic once again against Indians.
For once the Brewers pitching staff kept the Indians in check unfortunately for the Crew Jack Morris shut down all but 2 hitters. Only 2 Brewers got his on the day. Darryl Hamilton got 2 hits including a run, HR, and 2RBI, while Kevin Seitzer also got 2 hits on the day. Chris Haney pitched six innings of 3ER ball despite getting into trouble in multiple innings. Al Reyes gave up 1 run early but finished it off going 2 strong innings. For the Indians Andres Galaragga got 3 hits while Jim Thome and Carlos Baerga each added 2 hits of their own.

August 22nd 1995: Troy Neel blasts 3HR’s helps topple Indians.
Troy Neel had the game of his young Career day as he was moved into the 3RD spot. Troy blasted 3 HR’s during the game and added 5RBI’s. Dave Nilsson added the 4th HR of the game part of a 2 hit day for him. While Phil Plantier added 2 RBI’s. Jamie McAndrew did solid but tired and only pitched 5 innings of 2ER ball. Ramon Garcia was solid in Relief giving up just 1ER in 3 innings. Graeme Lloyd looked awful and it caused Jesse Orosco to get save number 39 on the year. Kenny Lofton and Carlos Baerga each had 3 hits on the day while Tony Pena blased a HR for the Indians in the loss. Bartolo Colon took the loss.

August 23rd 1995: Cal Eldred gets shelled, over before it starts.
Cal Eldred has had a rough year, most of the times the run production has been there but today it didn’t matter. Cal Eldred couldn’t get a single out in the 3rd and ended up giving up 8ER in just 2 innings of work. The Good news was Paul Wagner looked solid giving up just 2ER in 5 innings while striking out 6, and Bob Scanlan pitched a perfect inning in relief. Troy Neel continued to be hot getting 3 hits 2 runs and hitting his 19th HR of the year. Troy O’Leary also pitched in with a pinch hit HR. Tom Brunansky added 2 RBI’s on 2 Hits, Dave Nilsson had 3 hits as well. Andres Gallaraga destroyed the Brewers with 3 runs on 3 hits including a HR and 4RBI’s. Carlos Baerga, Jim Thome and Omar Vizquel all had 2 hits on the day as well.
