Start of Spring Training
You like the way your team is looking at the start of st?
I do. We didn't go out and get anything awesome this year, but we are going to be a year older with the exact same team as last year with more versatility...if any of the million things that could go right, do go right...watch out NL Central, Cards could be really good....
Granted that is for any team out there...hell the pirates could win it if all the things that need to happen, do happen, and the rest of the NL gets pancreatic cancer, mono, and breaks all their bones this year.

Re: Start of Spring Training
Cards spring training opening day lineup:
No paticular order since LaRussa won't announce it:
C Jason LaRue (Yadier can sit all he wants in the spring for all I care)
1B Alberto
2B Skip "Shoeman" Shumaker (Previously an outfielder who apparently is handling the transition well)
3B Joe "Joey Bombs" Mather (Also previously an outfielder, but has played all four infield positions as recently as 05. and is only a fill in til Glaus is back, Freese will likely start)
SS K. Greeene
LF C. Rasmus (baseball America's number 3 Prospect in the nation, pending Skip can handle second, he should be somewhere in the outfield)
CF R. Ankiel
RF R. Ludwick
SP Hawksworth (If he can stay healthy, he could be in the majors at some point this season, we'll see)

Re: Start of Spring Training
I am not happy with my team offensivly. I was not thru most of the off season happy with how the pitching turned out... but I have warmed up to it. I like our staff tho its not the Braves of the mod 90's but still... I'd go to war with them.... The offense... not to happy about it. would LOVE to see them add manny but come one who wouldn't want manny lol (besides metsguy who is NUTS) I wanted to see them go out and get a hight ba/obp guy like Abreu or a decent power guy thru trade or signing but... you never know... if they increse payroll next year, I can see them trading to get say Prince fielder or someone like that. Maybe the Guy from the Padre's. Overall I am willing to take a shot at this year with this team but I dont have overly high hopes. I feel better than the fans of teams that dont have a chance like the Royals, Padre's, Nats, Balt, etc

Re: Start of Spring Training
I think McPhearson could have a good year, if he can adjust to MLB pitching and still hit with power.

FSN Rocky Mountain puts on ATP Tennis over Rockies Spring Training.

Re: Start of Spring Training
I think the Twins will be just fine. Wouldn't mind seeing them get Juan Cruz in a sign & trade situation.

Re: Start of Spring Training
Cook pitches two shutout innings and Clint Barmes knocks in the first RBI of Rockies spring training...

w00t gameday

That takes you to the Mariners gameday, but you can navigate around to the others if you want. I had trouble finding it so I assume others did too

That happens a lot in Spring, it is called SS, or split squad. It is self explanitory

Re: Start of Spring Training
Watching Red Sox-Twins on mlb.tv now. During commercial breaks they are using feeds from MLB Network - getting commercials, score updates, etc. from them. So nice not to have to see the endless promos for mlb.tv in-between innings like they had in the past; those got old after the second inning of the first game of the year.

Re: Start of Spring Training
Did anybody see Garcia pitching for the Mets? I know it's just the 2nd/3rd game for some clubs, but man he just looked terrible

It's good to have a guy named "Gaby" in the majors. :)
