Re: Is kurt Warner a HOF?
Footballs HOF seems different to me. If you were a key player on a team that has made the postseason many times, usually you get in (i.e Steve Young, Troy Aikman). If not then they look at the numbers (Dan Fouts, Dan Marino). You dont go to the Super Bowl with 2 different teams and hold the top 3 passing yardage numbers and not make the HOF.
Re: Is kurt Warner a HOF?
I think Kurt is a hall of famer and this year with the Cardinals solidified his claim.
Re: Is kurt Warner a HOF?
I would like him to make the HOF, but he did not play enough for most of his career...

Well football is a little different than baseball. Put up a great 7 years and usually you get in.

exactly, the physical toll on their bodies is exponentially greater in the NFL

Agreed. Football has so many short careers (Payton, Sanders, Davis, etc.) that usually if you come in and put up a great seven or so years you usually get in. (Hopefully Davis gets in...)
But the fact is, with Warner's amazing story of coming into the NFL his thrilling super bowl championship. The fact that on the biggest stage he plays his best football and his running of the "Greatest Show on Turf" gives me enough. Obviously he shouldn't be considered one of the top 10 QB's of all time but he's good enough for the HoF IMO.

And he is coming back this year and if he can make it to the SB again that would be huge.
Re: Is kurt Warner a HOF?
In my opinion, it's definitely a yes.
Re: Is kurt Warner a HOF?
I went with no, simply because there are so many guys in this era who are locks. He's in the mix right now with a guy like McNabb, a couple of good seasons from being a lock.

Re: Is kurt Warner a HOF?
Absolutely. No question.
The quality of seasons, his accolades, his story, it's all HOF-worthy. His comeback, leading the Cardinals to the Super Bowl this past season, totally cemented him in my mind.
And let's not forget 2 things:
1) This guy's career is NOT over, and by the looks of 2008, is it really hard to imagine that he couldn't pad his numbers and possibly even his success/accolades before he's through?
2) We're talking about the PRO FOOTBALL Hall of Fame. According to Wikipedia:
Quote:
Warner was named to the AFL's All-Arena first team in both 1996 and 1997 as he led the Barnstormers to Arena Bowl appearances in both seasons. He was also named twelfth on a list of the twenty best Arena Football players of all time.
Warner is a slam dunk for the Hall of Fame. The "Greatest Show on Turf" revolutionized the game in a lot of ways, and was one of the greatest offenses in the history of the game, the guy has had some of the greatest seasons by a QB EVER, and you could even argue he's a top 20 all time QB in terms of quality of play, and not career numbers. And I think even "top 20" is being a bit conservative.
Re: Is kurt Warner a HOF?
Great point about the AFL.

.
which Payton? because Walter played 12 years, a long time in the NFL, which Sanders? Barry played 10 years and Dion played 16, none of those are short careers by NFL standards
