Re: Best Offensive Season Ever?
Babe Ruth's 1920, 1921 and 1923, I think, beat out his 1927.

I would tend to agree, but his 27 season is perhaps the most popular in peoples minds.
Re: Best Offensive Season Ever?
fanboy vote alert...while larry walker had a good season, it doesn't hold a candle to others on the list

Re: Best Offensive Season Ever?
Do a pitchers one as well :)
Re: Best Offensive Season Ever?
I did Ruth in 27 that average with that power, incredible, Williams 41 was a close second for me
Re: Best Offensive Season Ever?
I gotta say, you're missing some. :p Honus Wagner 1908, Ross Barnes 1876 (since you put Hugh Duffy up there, I assume you're including all of MLB history), Mickey Mantle 1957, Jeff Bagwell and Frank Thomas in 1994...

I know, I asked in the other thread for people to give me some ideas, but no one wanted to help. :o

Frank Robinson's 1962 weren't too shabby either.
Re: Best Offensive Season Ever?
GOing to add my voice to saying that the Babe is getting short-changed by not having his best season included (1921). RBIs, Extra base hits, hits, BA, OBA, SLG... all were among his best, and he played all but 2 games.
For me Ruth 1921 and Bonds 2001 are a tie. Though Hack in 1930 deserves an honorable mention. 191 RBIs and 146 runs scored in a 154 game season are nothing to sneeze at. Even with all the offense these days, no ones even come close to matching that pace...
Re: Best Offensive Season Ever?
Agreed on Ruth/Bonds being a tie.
On Wilson, the 1930 NL was a higher run environment than anything we've seen recently...highest ever, I think. 5.68 R/G. Compare that to 2001 NL, 4.70.

1920 was certainly his best IMO.
