I hate the Mariners, how they couldn't get this done. I won't be buying a ticket this year because they won't be worth watching.

lol you really won't buy a ticket because of this, after all the hard work they've done this off season?
I really hope that this Griffey thing doesn't cancel out this winter in your mind. This team has made a lot of progress considering the money they had to work with and the players they had available to trade.
They have made some progress, but I also thought they made some last year with Beddard coming to the Mariners. I thought that we would compete in 2008.
About the whole thing about the Mariners not getting along, if you just focus on doing your part on the field, getting along is just intangible attribute.
Im happy... yet sad it didnt happen 8 yeras ago
new update on that link :)
The Bedard trade was a bad trade and not just because of who we gave up. Bavasi thought we would compete because of the year before without realizing how lucky we got. Also I don't mean progress in just better players, we also have a new talented front office.
And you're right, the whole drama the club had last year I think was overblown and I think it also had to do with how bad the Mariners were doing. If I were Carlos Silva I would be pretty frustrated. He went out everyday and pitched which would probably be hard enough after the first month and the worst part was how bad his season ended up despite a 4.63 FIP.
I think you read Larry Stone's writing , but if you don't or haven't read this article it's a very good piece on the clubhouse drama last year which is pretty opposite of what Putz had to say.

Griffey just needs to shake a magic 8 ball for his answer.

I think he's gotten "Outlook uncertain" for the last 100 shakes.
To me, the Riggleman qoute, "I think one of the main thing is, his numbers are so good, but the team is not getting to the level we want it" is a big key. If a team doesn't do well, especially if they thought that they would do better, the best players tend to get the blame.
Yeah, Ichiro is definitely a guy who creates gets on base and knows how to run the base paths. He's not going to suddenly become a home run hitter or something and people criticize him because of it which is really weird. Ichiro is Ichiro and that's that.
I really never understood how someone who cared about their stats could be something bad for your team. I could understand if when they were asked to do a hit & run or hit a sac fly or something and they refused that would be something, but I don't think if Ichiro cared about getting 200 hits that would hinder your team at all.
I wish andrew jones would have tried to get 200 hits.
same with francouer, Johnson also :( God I would trade jsut about anyone on my team to get Ichiro... I was so Excited last year to hear me might test the market... man... him patroling VF or even him in RF and Frenchy in CF... God what a dream.
