There are many other great seasons, these were my top 10. You can vote for other, but please specify
Re: Who had the greatest single season of all time?
Pedro Martinez and Greg Maddux, but if I had to pick I would say Pedro.
Re: Who had the greatest single season of all time?
For sheer, eye popping, voluminous, insane numbers I'd have to go with a player who isn't included in the poll. Ed Walsh's 1908 season was stupendiculous:
66 G, 49 GS, 40 W, 15 L, 42 CG, 11 SHO, 15 GF, 6 SV, 464.0 IP, and a 1.42 ERA
Yeah, the league ERA was 2.32, but that season is ri-frickin-diculous. Don't forget about the 4.8 K/BB ratio, or the 1.09 BB/9 IP. Cuh-razy!

Re: Who had the greatest single season of all time?
I picked Bob Gibson, pretty much the best pitching season ever imo. Though I do know the majority of baseball didnt hit well that year.
Re: Who had the greatest single season of all time?
I'll go with Babe Ruth, 1920, but how the heck do you not have Walter Johnson, 1913 on that list?
Re: Who had the greatest single season of all time?
Gibson. An ERA that low over 300 innings is absurd. Second for me would be Pedro.
Re: Who had the greatest single season of all time?
I am surprised that Pedro has three votes. He was actually my last pick to put on there. I just don't think that was really all that amazing in comparision to so many other great seasons over the years. I picked Williams' personally. And am surprised so many have picked Martinez
Re: Who had the greatest single season of all time?
I dunno I just think Maddux's 95' is just as impressive as pedro's 99'
Re: Who had the greatest single season of all time?
It's kind of hard to do this when mixing pitchers and hitters. It's between Ruth and Bonds for me.
Re: Who had the greatest single season of all time?
I'm gonna vote to be different, and choose that insane season Hornsby had.
Re: Who had the greatest single season of all time?
Are you guys kidding me? Bob Gibson's season of 1908 was beyond belief! Bob Gibson in a deadball era?? He threw three no-hitters and killed four batters.
I'm still wondering how he convinced those guys he was Cuban.
Re: Who had the greatest single season of all time?
No love for Vida Blue??
At the age of 21:
24 wins 8 losses 24CG 8 Shutouts 312 innings 301K's 88 walks 1.82ERA 185ERA+ 0.952 WHIP
Re: Who had the greatest single season of all time?
31-6, 336 innings, 1.96 ERA, no love for Denny McLain's 1968 season?
Re: Who had the greatest single season of all time?
Bob Gibson > Denny McLain. As for pitching seasons, I have to give it to Pedro in 1999 or 2000.
