History
This is an alternate ending to the alternate history that I started here.
In 2012 the MLB expanded to 32 teams. One was to be located in Las Vegas, Nevada; the other in Mexico City. Las Vegas would be added to the AL West. Mexico to the NL West. In addition the Colorado Rockies switched leagues to the AL West and the Texas Rangers were moved to the AL Central.
The Las Vegas franchise was purchased by brothers Lorenzo and Frank Fertita, Owners of Station Casinos in Las Vegas. The brothers used zoning loopholes to attach a conservatively estimated billion dollar stadium to their new Viva Complex.
The Viva Stadium is an architectural and entertainment wonder. All the fast-paced excitement of Vegas is captured within the stadium. The concourse level features restaurants, slot machines, indoor skydiving, fully operable pitching and batting machines, and the Freemont Street Corridor where fans can watch baseball’s historic moments played out in LED lights overhead.
The deal upset many baseball purists who argued that having baseball so closely associated with gambling was only asking for trouble. But, in the end, bright lights, and big money won out.
After the completion of the 2011 season Fil Ihok, GM of the Washington Nationals, left his position to become the first ever GM of Los Diablos Rojos del Mexico.
Los Diablos Rojos were originally one of 16 Liga Mexicana de Béisbol teams. They have won the league championship 17 times, including 2011.
Mexico City has a distinguished baseball history and the following players have played for Los Rojos Diablos: Joakim Soria, Esteban Loaiza, Felix Jose, and Ricardo Rincon (among others *we hope to add some big names to this list).
Nueva Foro Sol is the name for the new Diablos Rojos Stadium. Named after the original stadium, it is-in a word-immense. The stadium was funded in part by the government of Mexico, the MLB, and corporate and private investors. Capacity seating is close to 100,000. Ticket prices range from quarter of a million dollar corporate boxes to $25,000 season club tickets. However, the vast majority of the tickets-those in the ‘Sombrero’-the upper deck which encircles the entire stadium-can be purchased for 50 pesos; about $3.
Ciudad del México is located at an elevation of over 7000 feet above sea level. For this reason the stadium playing field is huge.
The stadium features several unique features. Foremost among them is the centerfield berm-dubbed ‘Cuerno Del Toro’-due to the physical resemblance created by the curvature of the centerfield wall.
Ground Rules
I will be using the same ground rules as I did for my Nationals Dynasty. They can be found here.
One change will be in the Rule V Draft. Instead of doing a league wide Rule V Draft, only Los Diablos will be able to make one Rule V Selection per year. Players 25 years of age and over in the minor leagues as of March 1st will be eligible to be drafted. I must follow the MLB Rules regarding Rule V Draftees.
For the other teams I will use Jellio’s Parity Draft as a guide to do a similar draft.
I got the idea for this dynasty from a guy named abben who started this very interesting dynasty on the Mexico City Firecrackers. He never finished. Hopefully I will fare better.
The finances are a big (and pain in the ass) part of this. I did what I could to accurately reflect the cities, communities and teams.
For starters, I gave each team a fan base of +10%. I thought this fair as both teams should have novelty in their new cities bringing in fans. After each of the first two seasons (as long as I remember :eek: ) I will decrease Fan Base by 5% so that the teams are +0% over the long haul.
For starters Los Diablos Rojos were given $30,300,000 in cash-roughly the league average-while the Luck were given slightly more-about $35,000,000.
Expansion Draft
Rosters for the two expansion teams will be filled through an expansion draft. Much thanks to everyone who helped out with the protection lists. Those people being: 200tang, eggson, Gosens, Old Fat Guy, Joe12Pack, haveacigar, Reade, and Porklett
Also a huge thanks to PotatoOfCouch who agreed to take on the roll of the Vegas GM and draft with/against me in the expansion draft.
The draft rules will be as follows:
The draft will consist of two rounds. The first round will consist of 30 picks per drafting team. The second round will consist of 6 picks per drafting team.
In the first round, each drafting team must make one selection from each team. In the second round, once a team’s player has been selected that team’s players will no longer be eligible for the draft.
The draft order (to be determined) will follow a ‘Snake’ format (1-2,2-1,1-2,2-1, etc…)

Upon further review, and a sobbing begging plea from Chicago's Management, the MLB has decided that the Chicago White Sox' players should NOT be eligible for the draft. The MLB sites Chicago's sparse talent at all minor league levels, declining attendance, and unimpressiveness at all levels of the organization as the reason for this late change.
For that reason the 1st round of the 2012 Expansion Draft shall be shortened to 29 rounds and the 2nd round shall be expanded to 6 rounds.

AWESOME... live drafts are the best. I remember when I moved a team to Mexico City... with an "average sized" stadium, the home run park effects would have been 254(!!!) but BBM maxes out at 200. That's crazy how huge your dimensions are, yet the stadium effects are still well above average! Should be fun to have some high-scoring games, circa Denver in the mid-1990's again.
