Well, I'd love to try. Never done Fantasy leagues of any type before.
However, in the rules section, on the Live Draft Details page, there's a link to "test your browser" to see if mine is capable, and everytime I click it the message comes up "Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Webpage."
So, it sounds like my browser won't work.

Re: Running a yahoo roto fantasy league
Do you have the most recent version of IE?
Also, try upgrading flash.
EDIT: I just tried it here at work and am also getting an error page. I will check it at home as well...It's possible that the issue is on their end...
ragecage: I sent you the PM.

LOL, I don't even know what "plug-ins" are, I just remember seeing the message "you have no plug-ins" when I installed the IE 7.
I'll try on my laptop, and see what happens. If that's a no-go too, guess you'll have to find someone else. I might not be computer savvy enough for this stuff.

Re: Running a yahoo roto fantasy league
If that Test Browser link isn't working for anybody, it's a Yahoo problem, not yours. If everybody could try it out, that'd be great.
-
Re: Running a yahoo roto fantasy league
If there's room I'll join

Re: Running a yahoo roto fantasy league
When you go to the 'Live Draft Details' page on the link HoustonGM posted, no, the "test your browser" link doesn't work, but when you actually join the league and go to DRAFT CENTRAL, you can test the system there and it does work, for me anyways.
I suggest joining the league and testing it under DRAFT CENTRAL and then if it doesn't work....try to go from there. I would imagine it's very likely to work for you...and even if it doesn't work, you can edit the rankings of your players so that the computer auto-drafts for you in your preset order..it's fairly simple (though maybe time-consuming).
Join the league and test the system after that..it will work.

Re: Running a yahoo roto fantasy league

I'm not sure who Oakgrove BC is and I'm assuming Toronto Blue Jays is gosensgo, but I'd like confirmation. I just want to know who has joined and who of the people I sent PMs to hasn't so I can confirm that they're still interested. Thanks.

I haven't done the Yahoo email thingy yet, and so I haven't registered or joined or whatever the right term is, and I'm walking out the door in literally 10 minutes, so might not be able to until the weekend.
Does it have to be today?

Re: Running a yahoo roto fantasy league
I'm in as the Mighty Hedgehogs. Workin' on an appropriate logo. :)
We're really drafting from the entire league? Frankly, we're the perfect size to do an AL-only draft - two extra teams worth of draft pool to account for injuries, scrubs, and the like.
-
Re: Running a yahoo roto fantasy league
Oh, by the by, if anyone wants my phone number (to discuss trades, inform each other of deadlines, come up with inventive ways to say "bite me", etc.), let me know. I'll send it along in PM.
-
Re: Running a yahoo roto fantasy league
I guess I just assumed it would be a mixed league draft...but I'd be fine with doing an NL or AL only league...but I'll leave that to HoustonGM, it's his league..and it really doesn't matter to me either way. Whatever works for others works for me.
-
Re: Running a yahoo roto fantasy league
I am the Toronto Blue Jays.
-
Re: Running a yahoo roto fantasy league
I'd absolutely prefer a mixed-league draft, and would lose a lot of interest if it were a one league only affair.

Okay, no biggie. I just threw it out there as a suggestion. My preference is pretty mild, so I figured we'll do it the commish's way.

Re: Running a yahoo roto fantasy league
I'll be here for the draft.
But I would like to add to TNP's post above, although as a fantasy virgin my opinion should count for nothing, but it seems to me to make sense to have it more toward the middle or even end of March too only because it let's all drafters incorporate spring training injuries into our drafting strategies.
But March 4th is cool with me too, I won't know what the hell I'm doing whenever the draft is held. :o

For starters, start working on your list of players you want to draft. Then, if somebody drafts one that was on your list, delete/remove him and move on to the next guy.

LOL.
OK, got it.
Could you PM me a list in the proper order?:p
I could come up with my own if I were just judging who's the best ball players (well, I could come up with a list I would agree with), but I have no clue on who's the best fantasy players to draft. And I guess, if I'm reading the rules on these things right, that such a list would be different in different leagues because of each leagues specific statistics it uses to get points. Plus it would be different depending on whether it's a H2H or Roto league, or at least it seems to me it might be different.
So, yeah, I won't know what the hell I'm doing either way. :o
Psst: Bingle: I wasn't joking about the list though. Maybe just PM it to me and not anybody else OK??? Sort of our little secret, OK?? :D
-
Re: Running a yahoo roto fantasy league
lol. Generaly OFG I make a list of players myself based on position. I then look and see who is rated highest by yahoo (their ranking dont usualy seem TOO bad) What you wna to look at is the stats that we are using. Then compare them to players. For example... a guy like DUNN is going to help with HR, OBP, RBI, and probably Runs. If you draft a player like him you have to remember that you may need do draft guy with a little higher than normal BA. Maybe not higher than normal but .300+ In a ROTO league its a little easier to balance out because you have more of a mesh of players. 1 cold week from 2 or 3 players at once won't kill you like it might in a head 2 head league.
There in my opinion are 2 schools of thought in ROTO just like H2H. You can try and be very even keal and be in the top 5 or so in ever catagory (which in my opinion works best), OR you can really ramp up on 3 or 4 catagories try and blow everyone out of the water and then do OK on the others. Foe example try and decimate in HR, RBI, Runs with lots of power hitters and know you are going to slide badly in SB.
I am goving good info right guys?

You can go to the league home page and they have a thing where you can do a "mock draft" which is just a practice draft. If you are interested, I'm sure that would help some.
