Re: Running a yahoo roto fantasy league
I just realized something, how did Xavier Nady go 100 spots before Nick Swisher?

because I jumpted a round to soon for nady :D. Plus I have a feeling swisher may get benched sooner than later if he is bombing again this year.

So, I typed in his first name, and the guy came up, and with 1 second left I hit DRAFT, but IT WASN'T THE GUY I WANTED. LOL. Another guy with the same first name, LOL (I ain't saying cause I still want him, he's still available last time I looked).
Only, I don't know how to get rid of him, so I can sign the other one as a free agent.
It let me move him from my starting lineup to the bench, but I couldn't figure out how to release him.

when you're looking at your team's roster, along the top you'll see Add Player (or it might just be Add, I can't remember). Pick that. Now, find the guy you want to add...once you select him, you will have to drop someone to open up a roster spot for him. Pick the guy you want to drop, and you'll exchange the two players. Also along the top there should be some sort of option to just Release a player.
Now, I don't know what your league's Waivers rules are and that might come in to play since it's post draft. If you have waivers, it would like a waiver rule in a real sports league...you all are ranked according to the reverse of your season records (obviously you don't HAVE any records yet, so it's probably either the same as what your draft order was, or reverse draft order). You put a claim on a guy, then wait whatever your waiver period is (usually 2 or 3 days)...after that time, whoever has the highest claim that put a bid in on the player gets them.
If you ARE on waiver rule right now, I'd just wait until it's over and swap them.

EDIT : AB beat me to it ><
Well, wanted Hideki Whateverhislastnameis, the relief pitcher in Boston, but when I typed in Hideki up popped Hideki Whateverhislastnameis, the DH/OF of the Yankees.
So, last night I did what you both suggested, (only I actually selected a different pitcher to add), and when I pressed the + sign to add a player, it did in fact ask me what player I wanted to drop.
So I picked Hideki Matsui (or whateverhislastnameis), and pressed submit changes or whatever.
I just went to my team a few minutes ago, and I still have Hideki on my team, and the new pitcher isn't on my team.

That's because currently all the undrafted players are on waivers. For players on waivers, you put a "claim" in on him. When the waiver date expires (March 7 for all the undrafted players), it looks at which teams placed a claim. Then, it looks at who has the higher waiver position, which you can see on the main standings screen. Of the claiming teams, whichever has the highest position gets the player then, and moves to the bottom of the waiver positions.
On March 7th, all the undrafted players that aren't claimed become free agents. When you want to add a free agent, the change happens immediately. Well, not immediately...it updates every morning. During the season, any players that are released from a team first get put on waivers for 2 days, and then become free agents.
Re: Running a yahoo roto fantasy league
I promise to not go get him since I have priority on waivers :D

What Houston said. :)
Also, look up at the top and see what day's roster you're looking it...if it's later in the today, it's flipped forward to the next day and the change won't show until the next day.

Yeah, I get it (I think).
Thanks an awful lot for your help. I know it's gotta be hard to believe that someone that posts frequently on the internet really doesn't understand much about this stuff, but it's the truth.
I've heard of fantasy leagues, for years. Just never been a part of one.
So, I might (probably will) be asking some more dumb questions. :o
Like, could you take a look at our league and tell me which free agents I should sign????:p

It's not a problem, really. EVERYONE has had their first time in a fantasy league and was utterly lost, too. :)
Re: Running a yahoo roto fantasy league
Nevermind, I think I've got help (in person) on the way.
