Scratching my head at the Broncos adding a 19th RB to their team...McDaniels trying to convert some to D?
Also, somebody tell the Browns that this isn't Madden and nobody trades down 3 times in the first round

lol exactly what I said. But Moreno is a talent. Ayers with the 18th I'm happy with.
God, I would have loved Orakpo and Maualuga though.

Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Cleveland sure likes to trade this 1st rounder. 3rd time they've traded it.

I think Ayers will be a Pro Bowler, and better than Orakpo. Had they grabbed Everette Brown at 12 instead of Moreno (they are moving to a 3-4 right?), I'd have them as my top Round 1 winner. As a Philip Rivers fan, though, I'm glad they didn't

I'll be pretty happy if Oher goes to the Vikings. Didn't think he would last this long.

Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Maclin, don't know much about him. A surprise for the Eagles to get a WR 1st.
He seems similar to Jackson, which isn't a bad thing. We've got big receivers in Baskett and Avant.

that guy was the broncos leading rushers last year ... He's white ... that's generally a bad sign.

So, yes, adding yet another RB with a first round pick when they had one of the worst defenses in the league last year makes me scratch my head

They are going 3-4 and I would have loved Brown too.
If Raji had stuck around to 12 he would have been the greatest thing to fall into our lap in forever.
But he didn't...for some reason they grabbed Moreno. But hey, we got 8 more picks.
Beanie Wells just ended Edge's Cardinals career.

broncos trade next year's first rounder for seattle's 2nd round pick
-
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Broncos trade up to 37 I thought maybe they would grab Brown or Maualuga but instead they take a decent corner in Alphonso Smith.
Hopefully Smith pans out to play the other side of the field with Bailey.

Ahahahahahaha!! The Broncos are so stupid!

Mcdaniels, like Belichick and Parcells doesn't give a **** about the fans.
And I think that might be a good way to run a football team.
I hope Smith turns into that first round pick we would have had next year.

And I hope the Bears suck real bad cause I do believe we still have their 2010 first rounder.

Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Pats Drafted
Patrick Chung S/Oregon at 34
Ron Brace DT/BC at 40
Darius Butler CB/UConn at 41
We should have drafted Rey and Everette Brown:mad:

Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Curry at 4 and a first round pick next year seems like a good day
Could get a replacement for Hasselbeck next year.

Add Max Unger to your list

Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Haha, the Raiders 2nd round pick (Micheal Mithcell, CB from Ohio) isn't even on most people's draft boards. Seriously, how can you be a Raiders fan? Fighting back & forth with Denver for most questionable move
Chargers could clinch the AFC West by Halloween

Do the Raiders even know how to draft?

It's getting harder and harder all the time.
While I'm sure they (and by "they", I mean the walking corpse that is Al Davis) probably know more about these players that any of us ever will; you have to wonder how long it will take for the Raiders to crawl out of this hole they keep digging themselves into.
2024 Raiders: A return to respectability!

Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Panthers traded next year's first to get Brown in the 2nd as well (also got a 4th this year from the Niners too)
The Panther's thinking: Every year just trade next years' first rounder for a pick this year :p

Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
The Chiefs need to trade up and get a 2nd

Fighting with Denver?
Denver made one questionable move, imo. With two first round picks in 2010 McDaniels and company decided to make the move to grab a corner early in Alphonso Smith I don't see that as questionable as drafting what some would say was the fifth best wideout in the draft with the #7 overall pick and then drafting a kid no one had on their radar.
Sure, first round for second round doesn't sound as good but the draft is an entire crapshoot. The Broncos should land upper middle first round again (11-15 most likely) and anything the Seahawks draft there could bust.
The Moreno pick is questionable because it was not a need based pick but a "best available talent that McDaniels liked" pick. Sure, anyone would have loved Everette Brown or Cushing or Maualuga or someone but honestly, getting a playmaker in the backfield isn't HORRIBLE. Especially considering we didn't have a consisten playmaker last year.
Even barring injury the Broncos backfield wasn't that big of a playmaking backfield (didn't need to be with Cutler, Marshall, and Royal) but now without Cutler the backfield needs to be the base and with Moreno (if he pans out) it can add a huge weapon out of the backfield.
Orton isn't a big play quarterback even with weapons in Marshall and Royal and improving the backfield was neccessary, albeit NOT A PRIORITY in the first round.
The Broncos addressed many needs after the Moreno pick but I don't see it as even close to what the Raiders did.

Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Chiefs shouldve drafted Curry.
Looks like King Carl disease is starting
-
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Super happy about Seattle's day. Unger, future first & Curry. Even if all 3 of these picks somehow bust, you can't blame Seattle's thinking.
I would say though that the Raiders easily had the worst day. Both picks were HUGE reaches. Even if you buy in to the Raiders knowing more about these players than we do why couldn't they have just traded down? Those guys would've been on the board much later.

Maybe Al Davis thought that Crabtree would fall to the fourth or fifth round since he never ran the 40. :D

Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
As good of a day as the Seahawks had, I think the 49ers & Cardinals were just as good which isn't good to hear. 49ers picked up the best WR in the draft, although they still don't have a very good QB so I'm not to worried about them in this next year, but Arizona with a legitimate running game is pretty scary. I didn't stick around to watch much of the 2nd round, but I'm sure they got 2 other quality picks as well.

How did Detroit do in your opinion?
