Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
There are a few good candidates out there, but I like Stafford from Georgia. Who do you think should be the #1 pick in this years NFL draft?
-
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
There's no real standout in this class, which doesn't favor the Lions.
I think Oher is the best overall player and surest thing available, and he's probably who I'd pick.
-
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
If I was the Lions I would trade down. Maybe let the Raiders pass me as they try to grab Crabtree?
-
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Look for some big movement by the Eagles with their two #1s. I either expect them to engineer a trade for Boldin, or to move up to grab a top receiver or power back.
I don't know enough about these kids yet. I don't follow college football closely and learn about those in the draft covering the pre-draft analysis given prior to. From what i've heard thus far, it appears Stafford may be the elite WR pick. Not sure if that means he's #1 overall though.

This is the thing, though...if there's no top notch prospect, no other team WANTS to move up to #1 and spend the money needed to sign the top pick. Detroit's in the same position Miami was in last year, so just take the best guy on the board.

I'm not sure Oher is even the best player at his position :p

Stafford's a QB :p, the (potentially) elite WR in this draft class is Michael Crabtree.
As for the #1 pick, I think it'll probably be one of the top two QB's in this class, meaning Mark Sanchez or Matt Stafford. Stafford appears to be ahead of Sanchez now, but who knows what could happen between now and April. And as for my team, the Falcons, everything I've heard is about them getting a big defensive tackle, Raji or something like that from Boston College, but I'd like to see them get a corner like Vontae Davis.

Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Honestly, I like what Kiper has for the Broncos at a big DT but I wouldn't mind seeing someone like Ray Maulaluga come to Denver to play linebacker.

Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Crabtree is an elite prospect, probably the #1 prospect this year, but unfortunately for the Lions he's a WR. And we all know about the Lions and their history with WR's in the first round...

Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
We better draft Andre Smith

i think he may go to the Pats. Most people have the patriots drafting a RB within the 1st 2 rounds

I could see it. Maroney's been a debacle.

Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
I like Smith too, Crabtree is good but they can't draft a WR.
-
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Smith won't be the top pick...not after his combine performance

Leaving because he was having bad interviews. lol. Not much of a performance. Watch how his stock falls now. I read he is ranked as the #5 o-linemen now.

Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
It's obvious that the Lions should draft Barry Sanders :p

He'd still be one of their best players :p

Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
He did retire fairly early, im sure he has some left in the tank and im sure he wants to come back to chase the records. I mean who wouldnt want a 40 year old running back...they last longer than kickers

Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
And the Cowboys should bring back Emmitt. At least it would make for an interesting Thanksgiving day.
-
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Don't throw away top picks on skill positions. Draft lineman and QBs with top picks...find WRs and RBs off the scrap heap. Any skill players will do if you have a good O and D line.
-
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
The Lions need to get a stable pick like Eugene Monroe T or Jason Smith T. This team is so bad, drafting a QB isnt going to help them at all. They need to start with the foundation of the team which is Offensive or Defensive line.

1. Matthew Stafford QB, Georgia (Lions)
2. Jason Smith OT, Baylor (Rams)
3. Aaron Curry OLB, Wake Forest (Chiefs)
4. Michael Crabtree WR, Texas Tech (Seahawks)
5. Malcolm Jenkins CB, Ohio State (Browns)
6. B.J. Raji DT, Boston College (Bengels)
7. Vontae Davis CB, Illinois (Raiders)
8. Jeremy Maclin WR, Missouri (Jaguars)
9. Andre Smith OT, Alabama (Packers)
10. Rey Maualuga ILB, USC (49ers)

Some of the experts have Stafford and Sanchez neck and neck, so Im curious. Where do you have Sanchez going?

I'd say probably the Jets, Texans, or Bucs
-
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Also the first Running Back i think will be Knowshon Mereno at 12th to call me crazy but the Denver Broncos and i have the 3 other QB's in the 1st, Mark Sanchez, Josh Freeman, and Nate Davis
-
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
also 3 or 4 RB's will go in the 1st
Knowson Moreno/Broncos
LeSean McCoy/Patriots
Chris Wells/Chargers
-
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Heh. If they have another year like last year the broncos need to take a RB in every single round. Im not completely sold on the Jets taking Sanchez. Brett Ratliff did alright for them in the preseason I think if they get some other players on defense or a big time WR they should do allright. I think Josh Freeman to the Texans might actually work out. He has a cannon of an arm and if he can put it up there to Andre Johnson...that could be dangerous. Where do you have Nate Davis going? The Bucs?
-
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
If the Chargers take Wells then LT is done there for sure. If that is the case where do you think LT would wind up?

I'd Say the 3 teams other than the lions taking QB's are the Texans prob. Davis, Bucs prob. Sanchez if avail. and Jets Sanchez if Avail or Freeman

idk i think he will end up like Duece and Taylor in being cut. But i'd say if the Jags dont get a RB they get him. But he's likely to get cut if the Chargers get RB in 1st round
Depth will be
Sproles
Wells
Hester

I agree about him being cut. I mean I dont think any team will trade for him if they know the Chargers will want to cut him anyways. Imagine if one of the division rivals signed him.
