No. You read exactly what I meant. In my opinion I dont think they will go that route. But I believe if they were to draft a quarterback he would work out for them, not necessarily this year. But then again QB is probably the hardest position to draft.
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
If nothing else they need another QB, maybe in the late rounds, to back him up. Because Sage didnt do that great when Schaub was injured.
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
I have no issue with them taking a flyer in the 4th or later, but them wasting a first or even a second on a qb just isn't in the realm of reality
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Jaker what's your reasoning with the Broncos wasting their first round pick on an RB when they had one of the worst defenses in the league?

Plus the Broncos cut half their defensive starters from this past year
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Heck, in the past they could just put etothep in at rb and he would get some good yardage. They have a could offense and with an offensive minded coach coming in, I think they dont really need to draft any offensive players at all. Unless they plan on drafting a RB and trading him.

Agreed! Unfortunately, this idea makes sense, so Detroit will never do it.
As for the other teams...no way in Hell Houston is drafting a QB in Round One. They'll go grab a better backup, but Schaub's played well, and they're a solid enough team that blowing it all up to start again makes no damn sense. It's going to be a DB to play opposite Dunta, or an OLB if someone's worth taking when they're up. Actually, another offensive lineman wouldn't be an insane choice, either.
Denver actually COULD use a back, but I think they'll wait and try and beef up the defense first.

Well they didn't do a very good job :p
They need lineman. The lineman they had were way way too small and they need some big lineman who will go in and force sacks.
I'm excited for Mike Nolan and the 3-4 though, I think he will do great things in Denver.
Honestly, the "amoeba" offense that McDaniels is bringing in probably won't need too much of a running attack. Cutler, Marshall, Royal and the TE crew of Graham and Scheffler should make a great attack on their own like they did this year with a 1-2 punch of a fast running back and Peyton Hillis who really impressed me last year.

5. Malcolm Jenkins CB, Ohio State (Browns)

Man, I hate Rey going to the 49ers (I don't want to root for them). With all the other quarterbacks not looking good at all (especially Sanchez) Stafford would be the safest pick as far as qb's go. But I just don't see him being able to pick that team up. I think Andre Smith signed his ticket out of the top 10/15 with his disappearing act.
It's going to be interesting, seeing how many of the guys coming out early (Greene, Sanchez, Harvin) didn't wow anyone at the combines.

Don't the Broncos have that young guy Torain at RB. I don't think they will draft a RB

Not sure how he's doing in his rehab from tearing his acl. Plus it was shanahan who was big on him
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
Running Backs
* 30 Cory Boyd (Age: 23)
* 22 Peyton Hillis RB/FB (Age: 23)
* 46 Spencer Larsen FB/ILB (Age: 24)
* 38 Andrew Pinnock FB (Age: 28)
* 42 Ryan Torain (Age: 22)
* 35 Selvin Young (Age: 25)
Re: Official: Who Should Be The #1 Pick In The NFL Draft THREAD.
reflections, from what I hear Sanchez gained a lot of rep from his performance at the combine throwing and running the 40 and could be neck and neck with Stafford all the way until draft day.
Pat White also ran a 4.55.
Love Shanahan or hate him he knew running backs, eto. He couldn't find a defensive player to save his life but running backs he was pretty decent (Davis is a big one. Clinton Portis, Mike Anderson). So Torain, pending his rehab should be alright.
Young will also be battling and I think Hillis has a legit shot...its becoming a 2 back league and I think a mix of speed and Hillis could be good for the Broncos.

I heard Sanchez was ugly & will be lucky to be selected before 17 now

Sanchez struggled most of the day and may have pushed himself out of the draft's first 10 selections. He was accurate throwing between the numbers, but Sanchez sprayed the outs and was very inaccurate with his deep outs. Most worrisome is Sanchez showed marginal arm strength and on a number of occasions receivers were slowing up in their deep patterns as his passes were underthrown.
