no clue why it wasn't reviewed. I think it's a giant mistake by the officiating crew

I guess I wouldn't say Ben Roethlisberger is now "cemented as an elite quarterback," but it depends on how you define "elite." By strict standards, only Brady and Peyton could be considered Group A elite. Group B would be rather crowded, and I'm not sure how Ben could be left out of that group.
Winning 2 Super Bowls as a QB certainly says you're doing more things right than you are wrong. Especially with his performance in yesterday's game, and I'll say it again, I think he deserved the MVP. He is a big game QB, and he's a winning QB. This is a guy with a lot of years ahead of him in the NFL, and at his current pace I could definitely see him in the HOF when all is said and done.
Just watched the official super bowl highlights from NFL.com
Good game. Some great catches. Ben Patrick. Santonio Holmes-of course. The catch and run by Fitzgerald was impressive, as was his other TD catch.
What stood out, though, was...Roethlisberger. He just looks like he is 'playing' football. Other guys are out there working their asses off and Ben is just out there running around making things happen. The 3rd down pass to Miller on the 1st TD drive. 3 or 4 times on the final drive.
There can be debate in baseball about 'knowing how to win' but Big Ben makes it pretty obvious in football that he's a guy who knows how to win and sustains (or improves) his level of play in the highest of pressure situations.

by the way, is anyone surprised that president obama correctly guessed the game's outcome, but matt millen didn't?
I'll second you on that. Roethlisberger got some major props from me for voicing how concerned he and the Steelers were for Willis MacGahee after that horrific helmet-to-helmet tackle at the end of the AFC game. And I'll go on record as saying that Clark shouldn't have been fined for the hit.
Ben had a great a game and it would have been hard to argue if had been MVP, Holmes also had an amazing game though, there is talk about how the the 1st pass "went through his hands" but if he had made that catch it would have been one of the best catches in Super Bowl history. Plus one of his great catches, the 20 yarder that was nullified by the saftey-holding, was an amazing play.
Even so, anyone who watched that game can easily tell the MVP of that game was unquestionably Kurt Warner. Against the best Defensive team this year, that knew they couldn't run the ball, Warner carved them up, like no other QB in a superbowl --- Except maybe Warner himself.
On that note, for the second straight year the Superbowl featured an inexplicable 180. Last year, New England (with one of the best offenses ever) were shut down and unable to move the ball. And this year Pitt's top rated D couldn't do anything about the Cards running up and down the field for the last 3 quarters.
That is more or less exactly what I meant. Anyone who doesn't think Kurt Warner deserves the hall of fame should be checked for a pulse.
Really, I don't think it was as much him shredding the D as it was our defense missing tackles, and also Fitzgerald finally getting balls his way in the second half. Once Fitz started catching balls the game started going to hell for Pittsburgh.
I'll tell you something else, Troy Polamalu played probably one of his worst games I have ever seen him play, and I've watched every Steeler game the past 15 years. I don't know what was up with him.
odds that cards win next season's super bowl - 30:1
number of teams w/ the same odds who didnt' make the playoffs this year - 2
number of teams w/ better odds who didn't make the playoffs this year - 5
I agree...Polamalu was AWFUL. He seemed to be trying to turn every tackle in to a massive hit instead pf just concentrating on bringing the guy down, and kept missing plays as a result.
If Arizona had won I would have had a hard time picking between Warner and Fitzgerald for MVP.
Kurt probably deserves HoF induction, but there is such a backlog of deserving players right now he's going to be waiting awhile to get in.
oh i don't think he's a first time hall of famer, but i do believe he gets in. and Fitz would def. have been the MVP had they won.
