Lineup Flexibility

Just a really, really minor request here.

I'd love it if the pitcher's spot wasn't locked into ninth in the order in the batting order when you're setting your regular non-DH lineups. There are many people (myself included) who believe that it's better to bat the pitcher eighth and have a "real hitter" bat ninth, because it gives the meat of the order more opportunities to drive in runners. I know you can move the pitcher up to eighth in the pre-game lineup screen, it'd just be nice if you could set it so you wouldn't have to do that every game.

That's a good point, if you're playing PbP you can change it prior to each game, but if you're simming, you can't.

Though that IS the manager's call not the GM's...

I wouldn't even know where to begin to look for that, though I suspect you're right.

A pitcher got at least one plate appearance in the #8 slot 253 times in 2008. However, I a portion of those are from double switches. The overwhelming majority of cases in which a pitcher received 2+ plate appearances in a game in the 8th slot come from St. Louis and Milwaukee.

Awesome!

So there are 16 National League teams. 2 of them routinely bat the pitcher 9th. that's 12.5% of the time (if they alway did it). I'd say that's pretty significant.
