Reports last week said that Garland turned down a 2 year, $14 million proposal from them. Ha.
Weird that they didn't just keep Johnson though, he was coming up on 300 wins and would not have signed for more. I know he won't pitch as many innings as Garland but he's the better pitcher and even if he's moving to the NL he's moving to a hitters friendly park.

Yeah, Garland's gonna implode any day now, but this isn't a bad deal on a one-year term.
This is a little off topic, buT I am still confused on why Baltimore reacquired Traschel in 08...
Pretty solid deal, IMO. Garland might struggle a bit since the Diamondbacks don't have the greatest infield defense, and he's notorious for being a ground-ball pitcher, but if he's anywhere near where he usually is he'll give them a formidable 1-3, with Webb and Haren in the one and two slots.
