Re: Angels Offseason Moves
Signed Brian Fuentes
Lost Fransisco Rodriguez, and Mark Teixeira
Currently unsigned former Angels: Garrett Anderson
Re: Angels Offseason Moves
Oh yeah..forgot about Fuentes
But is this all?? Really, they can do better than that
Re: Angels Offseason Moves
And Garland signed with the D'Backs.

The Angels signed Abreu today
1 year, $5mil deal
Excellent for the Angels...except for losing the draft pick?

Re: Angels Offseason Moves
Although I agree Abreu will definitely help the Angels, it seems weird to me. They were going to move Chone Figgins in to the OF to make room for Brandon Wood, but now they've got Abreu, Hunter, Rivera, Guerrero, Mathews Jr., and Willits.
It looks like Brandon Wood will again have his development put on hold and their OF looks like it's going to be below average defensively.
A good signing though.
Re: Angels Offseason Moves
Yes! Great signing! I'm thinking..hmm...will they put Abreu in left and Guerrero in right? Or Guerrero DH and Abreu in right?

I don't know the actual defensive stats for any of the Angels outfielders, but if I were managing the team it would probably be something like Vlad DH'ing, Abreu in right, Torii in center, and Rivera and Matthews split time in left.
Re: Angels Offseason Moves
Hmmm, let me see if I've got this straight.
A career .400 OBP guy, a better fielder and better baserunner, and strikes out less, and for HALF THE COST of Dunn.
Yeah, I'm totally seeing what a great deal signing Dunn was now for the Nats. Totally seeing it.

Wow, his OBP is higher then your weight! Your making progress! :) But, seriously, Dunn is a better hitter, and they walk nearly the same amount...
Re: Angels Offseason Moves
They were never gonna go after K-Rod or Garland

They don't walk nearly the same amount. At their peaks, they did. People still seem to be stuck with the image of 27 year old Bobby Abreu. Abreu has averaged 79 walks the last 2 years. Dunn, 112. And that's before even mentioning that Abreu's about a .460ish slugger and Dunn a .530ish.
Dunn > Abreu, with some room to spare.
