Re: Royals sign Greinke to extention through 2012.
New article about Joba Chamberlain on fangraphs......still not a word about Greinke. Amazing that we sign a utility player..instant analysis to rip us. Trade a fragile reliever away...let the criticizing begin..almost instantly. Lock up a potential ace until 2012, an undeniably fantastic move....not a peep. Guess that's just another exaggeration of mine that strangely seems to true....
Re: Royals sign Greinke to extention through 2012.
How much can really be said about an extension on a guy like Greinke? The Bloomquist analysis may have been more relevant because it's addressing a baseball oddity (and a player whose fan appeal exceeds his abilities), and Joba is relevant because he had only pitched in 37 professional games (just over half in the majors) prior to last season, and a lot of eyes are on him. The issue of how many innings he's going to toss next year is HUGE. Like it or not, the Yankee rotation is the biggest non-Manny story of the offseason so far.
I don't think there's necessarily any anti-KC bias or blind eye effect going on here. Fangraphs isn't exactly like ESPN... and plenty of extensions have been signed this offseason without too much fanfare or in-depth analysis.
Beyond fangraphs, it doesn't look like it's getting much coverage though.
Re: Royals sign Greinke to extention through 2012.
FanGraphs has had an article on basically every extension this offseason, from Jayson Werth to Nick Markakis. It'd be a surprise to not see a Greinke one, although I'd hardly care that it didn't go up "immediately."

If you're going to criticize literally every single move the Royals make (and yes..literally every move we have made has been ripped all over the place), when we do something right..I expect more than just Rob Neyer delivering one backhanded compliment.
All I know is, all the other moves we've made..there has been immediate feedback from multiple sources about how stupid they were. Many forums, many blogs, ESPN, tv...everywhere. We lock up Greinke...Neyer gives us one backhanded compliment and there hasn't been one word from any of those other sources..and they have had all day to do so.
No, I don't think everyone gets together and discusses a big conspiracy against the Royals..but it's pretty obvious that it's just fashionable to bash the Royals for everything and just ignore them when we do something well. Yeah, I talk about it a lot..but nothing I say is inaccurate.

Rany, a diehard Royals fan, allowed this move to completely change the tone of his opinion of Dayton Moore.

FanGraphs on the Coco Crisp trade. Conclusion, "I give the edge to Kansas City in this one."

Each move is evaluated on its own merits. Whether you think it's fair or not, the Royals moves this offseason have NOT been good, up until this point. The only move that can really be described as a "win" for Kansas City is the Crisp trade. Have the moves been DETRIMENTAL? No, probably not...but not good, and when a move is made that isn't good, it's criticized, and rightfully so in my opinion. The good moves are praised.
The FanGraphs article on the Nick Markakis extension was put up a few days after the reports of the agreement came out. I think you're being a bit premature in your reaction to the "lack" of articles on the Greinke extension.
Re: Royals sign Greinke to extention through 2012.
I guess you might be right. After all, Ramon Troncoso had an article written about him not long ago, and he didn't even sign anything. All he did was start some games in the Dominican winter league.
But I wouldn't worry too much about it. Everything will play itself out on the field, and I'm sure they'll get around to the article eventually.

Obviously I exaggerate when I say that "no" words have been said and other terms of that nature. The point remains the same.
Re: Royals sign Greinke to extention through 2012.
I haven't had a chance to read this thread yet, but you gotta be kidding. What are the Royals thinking? What a terrible signing, Greinke?? Zach Greinke long term?? Are you kidding me?? Why dont' they go get Victor Zambrano as well while they're at it.
Poor management is what puts these teams in the position they are. Heck, might as well let Bloomquist pitch.
Re: Royals sign Greinke to extention through 2012.
Sarcasm concerning Greinke I hope?

It was up quicker than their Nick Markakis signing. I think you're overreacting when it comes to the "immediacy" of the articles...

Honestly...you have some kind of a complex. From my observation, everyone pretty much just ignores everything the Royals do. Maybe it's because they have been such a non-factor for so long.
I watch a lot of sports shows, talk to a lot of sports fans, read sports sections in the newspaper, etc., and the subject of the Royals rarely even comes up. Except for here, of course.
Really, you might want to do something about that persecution complex.
