What do you mean? Which picks the teams will be receiving how let the class a or b free agents walk, or which pick each player will cost a team?
WEll I am just wanting to know if there is a list prepared at all yet for next year's draft. And if a signing like Sheets for example will still cost anyone a pick. That sort of stuff
yes, all players that are a type a or b free agent will still cost/gain teams picks.
The Yanks are giving up their 1st round pick to the Angels, 2nd round pick to the Brewers, and 3rd round pick to the Blue Jays, but still have a first round pick for not signing Cole last year. All Type A's that were signed by the teams that didn't have a protected pick (top 15) are giving up their first round picks, those that have protected are giving up their 2nd round, and type B free agents nets teams a supplemental round pick. The draft won't be set until the offseason is over is my guess.
I found this, updated December 31.
no kidding
Nationals won't be looking too badly either
Anybody who gets Stratsburg will have a good draft.
I guess one good thing came out of the Tigers terrible year, they got a good pick. Not much impact position prospects in their system (if any) and not many good pitching specs (other than Porcello) but do have a few with potential such as Crosby.
Stratsburg would most likely want to sign with San Diego I would assume. He has good stuff though. But would he sign if drafted by D.C?
Awesome, my Mariners get 4 picks in their if I didn't fail to miss any. Here's hoping we get a guy to rise through the minors quick with our second pick.
EDIT : I meant our second OVERALL pick :P
Let's just hope that Fields doesn't sign :)
M's could have a bright future, don't they have a decent farm system as well? not to mention felix, if he can turn into an ace.
They don't have a ton of great players in the farm system since they've been super aggressive with players recently, but hopefully that will change under Z. The best prospect is probably Truinfel but there have been questions about his age since he's from the Dominican and he has gotten in to trouble with team rules which would put them farther down the list if we found out he was older than he was. I think I heard that the Rangers have the best farm system in the West this year.
The Rangers have the best farm system in the majors, bar none.
To: Texas Rangers
From: Atlanta Braves
Subject: #1 ranked farm system
You're welcome.
By who?
Keith Law ranks Atlanta fourth, behind Texas, Tampa Bay, and Oakland. I'd put them above Oakland, but not ahead of Texas or Tampa Bay.
I think he was saying that Texas has a great farm system due to trades. Like the Tiexera deal.
Anyway. If I was running a mogul dynasty and wanted compensation picks for free agent signings, anyolne have any suggestions?
There's really no way to rank in any remotely accurate way who has the "best farm system" in any terms other than which farm system has the best assortment of prospects.
You'd have to do a lot of work, tracking which FA's give compensation, and then come draft team, force trade draft picks.Quote:

Yeah, exactly.
I think that is the one weakness with JS. I think that he was more concerned with keeping our division title streak going and less with what if would mean for the future.
He traded away Dye, Schmidt, Wainwright, (guys who have proven themselves) and guys like Salty, Andrus, Harrison and Feliz (who I think will range from being good to great) for one or two year rentals (actually, in the case of Dye, for a utility IF and a 4th OF).
Now, it would be different if they actually re-signed a few of those guys, but because of a stupid in house policy of not giving no trade agreements, we have to settle for selling our farm for any big free agents out there, and unless we change this policy, we will always have to. The Braves used to be a team that people felt honored to play for, sort of like (but not on the same level) as the Yankees and Red Sox. Unfortunately, I think some in our front office still expect free agents to feel like its a privilege to play for Atlanta, and that seems to cause them to lowball several players, and then have to out right overpay for others.
I just think that we would have been better off accepting the fact that we would be down for a few years and let our farm work for us.
Ah, okay, I get it now. Your original post was saying that the Rangers have the Braves to thank for that #1 farm system, :p. In that case, yes, mostly. :)
They still have Type A/B/C free agents? I'm pretty sure they got rid of those in 2006 or so.
Braves still have a bright future and I can't wait until they are back on top. I grew up watching them (TBS) because they were/are my bro's favorite team so I like to see them succeed.
Please don't post that nonsense outside of the threads it belongs in. Thanks.
