Tyler Hansbourgh

I dunno how many of you follow college basketball. But Hansbourgh went to a high school about thirty miles from where I went to high school and currently live. Poplar Bluff, in accordance to Cape Girardeau. Anyway, we were in the same conference and division. He is two years younger then me, but we still played against each other ALOT. And he was big, but he wasn't really into his body really until about Sophmore year, even though he was a rare starter as a freshmen.

Anyway, the point of all of this. Next year, do you think he could go number one in the draft? who could use him the most in the NBA?

i think it will be a while b/f there is a college senior who is the first overall pick. i think nba teams are looking for someone more versatile.

I agree with you, I feel he can be a solid role player, and has the ability and drive to learn how to play the game at the NBA level. But I don't know if his style will translate. He's tough, but in the NBA at his size, it might be tough. I am hoping for the best for him. sort of a local hero around here....he, Cheryl Crow and Rush Limbaugh.

i think saying 14 ppg and 6 rpg for ten seasons isn't too wild of a predicition for him. Even if on a contender.

I'd say that is the worst prediction ever. He is amazing for college. I'm hammered but I speak the truth. Hansborough will be a "Kirk Heinrich" type of pick. Be a great "role" player and most likely never a be a great player.

I dont tune into college basketball until march. Its so much more compelling to watch than the regular season.

Tyler Hansbrough is one of the greatest college basketball players in history, but sadly, I feel that he is what he is... and that is a great college basketball player. I think he'll be a solid player in the NBA, but not a star... I really hope I am wrong, since he is my favorite player (yes, I am a huge UNC fan).

Only similarity is that they are both white and both have (or had in Laettner's case) very successful college bball careers.

Yeah...Laettner was a totally different type of player.

Why does he always gotta be compared to white guys who failed in the NBA? Seriously... I actually think Elton Brand-lite.

I'm sorry to say it because I really like him, but I don't think Psycho-T is gonna be much of a player in the NBA. I think he can be a solid role-player or maybe a starter on a decent team, but I don't think he'll be an All-Star.

As much as I like Tyler I don't see him being an all-star either. He works hard, and a hard worker is always needed in the NBA so he could always be a good role player..

But I don't think he has the talent or toughness to be a superstar.

He is going to WILL himself to become the greatest basketball player of all-time, making us forget about players such as Jordan, Chamberlain, Magiic & Bird.

WILL, HARD WORKING, WILL, WILLPOWER

Exactly, and he's a little small to be playing the post at the NBA level.

Fair enough, but I still think he's slightly too small to be a big impact player at the next level. But only time will tell, and I hope he proves me wrong.

Three players that have overcome their size.

How many haven't? More then three I can tell you that...:rolleyes:

I would also argue that Kenyon Martin is nowhere close to either of those guys in skill (or in power in the post). He's a run and gun player who doesn't always produce much in a different system.

I am SURE that I can name many many many more players that have overcome being an inch or so undersized. The prototypical PF is around 6-10 or so, maybe 6-11, and around 250 or 260 pounds... Sure, Psycho T is a little bit undersized, but to say that he will not be an impact player is absurd considering I guarantee that no one here can predict the future.

Including you ;). No one here is saying they can predict the future, they're just giving their honest opinions of what they think Hansbrough will do at the next level, which happens to be opposite yours. There's certainly a chance he could be an impact player, but there's also a chance that he'll just be a solid roleplayer, and there's also a chance he'll be a total bust, but the odds probably favor him being a solid starter/roleplayer.

I never said there was no way...I just didn't see it. He's a hard worker but his talent level and toughness are lacking. Many of the plays he creates are simply him working hard against a lesser opponent...not on talent. That may not work as well in the NBA.

No one has said there is no way T can't be a star. Most of us just don't see it. And you do. One of us will be right...one of us will be wrong...usually that's how sports debates go.

It depends on who else comes out, especially for big men. If it's an average to above-average class of big men, I think he's a mid-late first round pick, if the class is lacking a bit for big men I think he could be a lottery pick. His situation reminds me a lot of Kevin Love's last year.

pretty good draft site that has had him projected as a 20-25 pick for a few years (currently have him slotted at 24 to detroit)...i wouldn't be suprised at all thoguh if the charlotte tarholes took him with their lottery pick however (jordan loves picking unc players in the draft)

omg, that's the funniest thing i've heard in at least a week. balls to face.

I think he will go late 1st - early 2nd. Once the season is over and the work him out and see that he has so little "freakish" athletic ability which is what the G.Ms drool over, he will drop. He is a great college player. One of the greatest, but that is probably it. Id say he will be more of a Mark Madsen type. He gets over in college becuase of his name and school. He gets away with alot of overly physical activity. He seems to almost bully his way to the basket. The refs let him get away with murder. In the league the bigger, stronger, quicker post players will eat him alive. I see a ton of technical fouls and turnovers coming his way until he learns that he will not be a 1st option. He may eventually turn into a Tyrone Hill type Id say. Better 2nd half of a career if he matures and excepts the role.

Hansbrough supposedly on verge of willing a cure for cancer...
