Brady really messed up by not going with the team doctor on this one. It could cost him his job if Cassel does big things next year.
An infection has nothing to do with what doctor he went with.
Anyway, there are 2 ways to look at this.
1. Brady IS a mess and Cassel will have to be franchised.
2. Brady's recovery is going well and the Pats are looking to elevate the trade market for Cassel by putting out the appearance of needing him.

Well, first of all it's a one year thing when he gets tagged. And last year, the franchise amount for a QB would have been...$10.73 million. Since I don't see too many QBs out there likely to sign a deal ABOVE that level, it should be pretty similar this offseason.
